The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has closed entry and exit gates at 11 central Delhi stations until further notice amid heightened security arrangements. The affected stations include Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Tirth, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, and New Delhi. DMRC clarified that interchange facilities remain operational at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, New Delhi, and Central Secretariat. The precautionary measures follow planned demonstrations called by the Cockroach Janata Party and opposition groups demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Authorities deployed heavy police and paramilitary forces across central Delhi, sealing routes leading to Jantar Mantar under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. While organisers announced that demonstrations would commence from Mumbai, law enforcement agencies in Delhi reinforced security cordons to prevent unauthorised gatherings.

00:00We have breaking news for you right at the top of this segment.
00:03This is a certain notification, an announcement of sorts that's coming from the Delhi Metrorail Corporation
00:10where they have brought in certain service updates and it's been posted on PlatformX
00:15about how the entry and exit at certain following metro stations that we will also bring to your notice
00:21will remain closed till further notice.
00:24However, the interchange facility will still be remaining available at three of those metro stations
00:32that we'll just take you through the list of.
00:34The three of those being Rajiv Chalk, Mundi House, New Delhi and also Central Secretary.
00:40Four of those stations that will in fact be available for interchange facilities
00:44but the entry and exit shall not be usable.
00:48For now, these are service updates that are being announced and brought to public notice
00:53by the Delhi Metrorail Corporation.
00:56So which of these stations will not be available?
00:58Number one, Janpat.
01:00Number two, Patel Chalk.
01:01Three Central Secretary.
01:03Rajiv Chalk.
01:04Seva Teert.
01:05Mundi House.
01:07Lok Kalyan Marg.
01:08INA.
01:10Chauri Bazaar.
01:11Ramakrishna.
01:12Ashram Marg.
01:13And New Delhi.
01:14Most of these pass through the central part of Delhi and this is on a certain line as well
01:21if we are to track some of these.
01:23But yes, it's in the vicinity of each other mostly.
01:27Most of these stations whose entry and exit shall remain shut.
01:32For certain services that are, it's a service update, it's a maintenance work perhaps that's underway.
01:37Okay, exact reasons have not yet been spelled out by the Delhi Metrorail Corporation,
01:44but they've called it a service update right now.
01:47Four of these stations out of the list of 11 that we just took you through
01:51shall be available for interchange facilities
01:53because these four stations have several of the lines that interconnecting metro lines
02:00that pass through these stations.
02:02Number one, of course, being Rajiv Chalk.
02:04Then we also have Central Secretariat, Mundi House and New Delhi Station.
02:11These are the four stations that we will be taking a look at for it to in fact be shut.
02:17However, what we are given to understand, preliminary details that are also coming in
02:23while this is a service update that's been given,
02:25this is also a security protocol that we see that's playing out
02:29because remember, Jantar Mantar was the exact location where earlier the CJP protests had taken place.
02:38Now, while this time the CJP members have announced that protests will happen in Mumbai,
02:42it will begin from Mumbai,
02:44yet security authorities do expect that there might be some kind of commotion
02:51or for that matter some kind of protest that may also play out in Jantar Mantar.
02:57So, which is why all of the stations, 11 of these metro stations across this very region
03:03in the vicinity of the Jantar Mantar region have been shut.
03:08We have Piyush Mishra joining us on the broadcast with more details on this.
03:12Piyush, these are 11 metro stations which in fact had earlier been shut during the CJP protests
03:19that were taking place.
03:21While this time the protests are to begin from Mumbai,
03:25yet police are leaving no stone unturned
03:28and the authorities are leaving no stone unturned
03:30to ensure that the situation doesn't go out of their hand in the national capital as well.
03:39Well, that's right, Shrihan.
03:41That's why all the precautions have been taken.
03:43Delhi police is very much ready.
03:48Parliamentary forces have also been called in
03:50to ensure that no low-and-order situation takes place.
03:54Remember that there was a meeting of India Glock at the Constitution.
03:57They decided to hold across the country.
04:00Week-long protests have been planned.
04:02And today, not only the India Alliance, but also CJP has called for the protest
04:07and they are demanding resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
04:12All what we are now given to understand is that
04:15around 11 metro stations to be shut,
04:18these are the metro stations which connect the central Delhi,
04:21which includes the metro stations like Rajiv Chalk,
04:24Mandi House, Central Secretariat.
04:26We also have the local landmark metro station
04:29and various others which connect
04:31centrally with the rest of Delhi.
04:35The decision has been taken by the authorities
04:37to ensure that protesters in large number
04:40do not gather there at Jantramantar or near Delhi.
04:44And yes, earlier itself,
04:48the authorities have made it very, very clear
04:50that no permission has been given to the protesters
04:54to protest near Jantramantar
04:56or near the security, highly secure areas.
05:02Now we'll have to see how the protesters
05:03are going to look into this request by the authorities.
05:06But as we are speaking,
05:08they've ensured that proper security is in place.
05:11And that's why a large number of police personnel
05:14and parametric forces have been deployed
05:17in various parts of Central Delhi.
05:18Right, Piyush. Thank you for bringing us
05:20all of those details.
05:21We also have Himanshu Mishra joining us
05:23on the broadcast with more details on the same.
05:25Himanshu, a very good morning to you.

09:31SIR battle, which is in the heart of this entire protest that is to begin a little while from now
09:39through the day. Now, we see CJP is back on the streets from today onwards, or at least that's
09:45what they've announced, stepping up its protest against the Election Commission and the CEC
09:49Gyanesh Kumar. CJP has announced this agitation to begin from Mumbai this time. The CJP has three
09:55demands, clearly. One, of course, is CEC Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, freezing the 2025 electoral
10:03list and the greater transparency in the appointment of the CEC. These are the three demands that they
10:10have put forward. One of them, they've in fact put an ultimatum to that 48 hours is the time that
10:15they
10:15give for the CEC's resignation, else they'll be back on the streets. Clearly, that deadline, of course,
10:20was not met. And now we see the CJP protest 2.0 waiting to take place. CJP founder Abhijit Dipke
10:29says the protests will continue across India until the CEC resigns and insists that they will go ahead
10:34even without any permission. But Mumbai police has denied permission for the protest, citing rules
10:40governing public gatherings and traffic concerns. And as the CJP escalates its stir, the India bloc is
10:47also launching its safe democracy week today with district level demonstrations against the election
10:51commission. NDA, meanwhile, is hitting back, questioning the CJP's intentions and accusing it
10:58of defending what it calls fake voters. Take a look at some of the reactions that have come in so
11:04far
11:04into the story.
11:07If he doesn't sack Ganesh Kumar, because after all, he is the one who appointed him. He was appointed
11:12by the prime minister and the home minister. Am I right? So they have the rights to sack him and
11:18they should better sack him because he didn't sack Ganesh Kumar. The anger against Ganesh Kumar
11:23who turned towards the prime minister and the home minister. And I don't understand why the immunity
11:28has been given to him. Why? Why is that necessary? Is he above the constitution of India? Is he
11:35above ordinary citizens? Is he some God figure?
12:06The
12:35So this is the story, viewers, that we
12:37will be following up very closely as the day progresses.
12:42Of course, two fronts that we are keeping our watch out for.
12:45What happens in Mumbai, where the CJP members themselves will be leading the very protest.
12:51As Saurabh Das was also saying that he's flown down to Mumbai, Abhijit Dipke of course is
12:56there already and that is where the protest shall begin, even though there is no police
13:01permission.
13:01The other part of the protest that is to be taking place in the national capital at Jantar
13:06Mantar, how that pans out is something we will also be taking a look at because security
13:10has already been beefed up in the central Delhi because of the protest announcements.
13:15Now, how many people turn up?
13:17How many people would be participating in?
13:18What are the political figures that we'll be seeing out on the streets joining hands with
13:23these protesters?
13:24Because there's one key difference this time when we speak about the protests.
13:28That's simply the fact that when the entire protest around the education reforms had taken
13:34place, demanding the resignation of the education minister, the first almost 20 days, there
13:40was no political affiliations of the CJP.
13:43They still do not, they still maintain that they don't have political affiliations, but
13:47they didn't have any political support as well for that matter.
13:49It was much later that we'd seen political leaders reaching out to them when Sonam Bangchuk
13:55had also joined the entire protests in the national capital on that hunger strike.
13:59And now this time, it's a different scenario with political parties already joining hands
14:04with the CJP in their efforts to protest against the CEC.
