A promising young life tragically cut short. Daniel Cubero Montero, an 18-year-old Tarrazú drowning victim, is remembered by Colegio San Luis Gonzaga as a bright student and natural leader. His body was found after a five-day intensive search, approximately 300 meters from the waterfall where he was last seen.

Daniel, who graduated in late 2025, was cherished for his charisma, helpfulness, and dedication to social causes. Colleagues believe he discovered his passion for political science and public service during his time at the school. His leadership extended beyond academics; he served as student government president and excelled in debate competitions.

The accomplished young man was pursuing International Relations at UNA and Political Science at UCR concurrently. Furthermore, he was an active member of the Boy Scouts in Cartago, where his knowledge of first aid proved invaluable. The search for Daniel involved over 20 Red Cross members and firefighters, a testament to the impact he had on his community. His family and friends will now have the opportunity to bid farewell to a beloved member of the community.
