00:00is that we have some clear understanding now
00:03as to who is in the running
00:05to get the Las Vegas expansion franchise.
00:07And it's going to cost between $12 billion and $13 billion.
00:11And the big news to me is that this is going to require
00:17a new stadium to be built here in Las Vegas.
00:21Let me remind you, Bill Foley owns the Vegas Golden Knights.
00:25Bill Foley owns T-Mobile Arena.
00:27The Golden Knights play in a building that was built on purpose
00:32to have two teams call it home.
00:35The UFC uses T-Mobile Arena as their, quote, home arena.
00:41But it's not like they're there every weekend, okay?
00:44That's why they built the Meta Apex,
00:47because that's where they're putting all their lower-level events now.
00:50And they're selling tickets now to the Meta Apex.
00:53They have a full-blown...
00:53Before, it was just like a COVID place.
00:56Now, they've got stands.
00:58They're selling tickets.
00:59People can go to it.
01:00There's fight nights there almost every weekend.
01:02So there's a lot of stuff going on outside of T-Mobile Arena for the UFC.
01:08Why do we need another arena in Las Vegas?
01:12That, to me, is the mistake here.
01:14The $12 to $13 billion is a crazy price tag, okay?
01:18That is an obscene amount of money to pay for an NBA franchise.
01:21But you've got...
01:23I mean, these people have obscene amounts of money, okay?
01:26The people on the left, the Walton family, that's Walmart, okay?
01:31The Walmart folks, they're good.
01:33They can do whatever they want.
01:35You've got venture capitalists coming in,
01:38and you've got Bill Foley and Jerry Colangelo.
01:40Jerry Colangelo famously with the Phoenix Suns
01:43and everything he did in Phoenix.
01:45I don't really get it.
01:48I mean, I know the NBA is really interesting,
01:53really interested in how the dates get disseminated
01:59because that's why Bill Foley doesn't want to share T-Mobile Arena.
02:04What Bill Foley has said to the NBA is that,
02:06look, the Golden Knights are going to get the first right of refusal
02:09for any scheduling that's going to be made.
02:11So if you're going to play at T-Mobile,
02:14know that the Golden Knights get the first crack at the schedule.
02:17That does not sit well with the NBA.
02:19The NBA does not play second fiddle in any building that they are in, okay?
02:23If you look around the league, look around the world,
02:25look at how the NBA, Canada, and America,
02:28the NBA does not like to do this.
02:31And my experience is with the NBA,
02:32it's pretty clear from my WNBA and also my NBA DL
02:37when I was there when I was at the G League,
02:39that they want prime dates, okay?
02:42When they come into a building, they say,
02:44okay, we are the big game in town.
02:45We are taking the best dates.
02:47So that's why they want a new arena.
02:49So I do understand why they're asking to build a new arena.
02:54I just don't think it's a good idea.
02:58If you come to Vegas,
02:59I know tons of you guys have come to Vegas.
03:01You look around and you see what is built here.
03:05You have Allegiant Stadium, which is the biggest, okay?
03:08That's 65,000.
03:10Then you have T-Mobile Arena, which is 20,000.
03:13Then you have all the MGM properties and all their arenas,
03:17which range from the MGM Garden Arena,
03:20which is like 9,000, 10,000,
03:22depending on the event that you're putting on.
03:24You have other events.
03:25You have other types of places in Henderson
03:27where the Silver Knights play called the Lee Family Forum,
03:31which is about a 9,000, 8,000 seat venue.
03:33You're starting to look at all these different places
03:36that have been built.
03:38Now you're going to build a baseball stadium,
03:40which is going to be a 25,000 seat or so baseball stadium,
03:45which is going to be built diagonally from New York, New York
03:47on the site of the old Tropicana across from MGM Grand.
03:50And we're going to build a 20,000 seat basketball facility.
