France is facing a growing wave of high school protests as students continue to demand better learning conditions, more teachers, and increased resources.
The demonstrations began in the Paris region and have spread to cities including Lyon, Lille, Nice and Saint-Denis. Reports say hundreds of schools have been affected, while some protests have involved clashes, fires, arrests and injuries.
Public-sector strike action has also caused disruption to some services and transportation. However, transport disruptions should be viewed separately from the student protests rather than being attributed entirely to them.
