00:00Here are five kitchen items worth splurging on. Number one, a good chef's knife. A chef's knife
00:04can do almost any job in the kitchen, so it's just a good staple item to have, but a good
00:09one can last
00:09forever. They sharpen better, they stay sharp longer, they withstand just about everything in
00:14the kitchen. Totally worth the money. I've had these for years. Number two, a heavy good Dutch
00:19oven. This is an investment, but it makes for a great wedding gift, a birthday gift, or just a
00:24treat for yourself. I've had mine for at least 20 years. You can do anything from obviously
00:28your good stews and soups, but also it bakes bread and it keeps things hot for a really long time.
00:33Speaking of good investments, the KitchenAid mixer. Mine was a wedding gift over 20 years ago. It is
00:39still running strong. It obviously can do so many jobs. It is heavy and it can be cumbersome, but the
00:44fact that you leave it on your countertop, it's always ready when you're ready. But I also love
00:48using it to shred chicken and you can get the attachments. You can make pasta, you can make
00:52sausage. It's worth its weight. Next, a heavy bottom, good stainless steel skillet. In particular,
00:59a deep skillet. I use this for so many things. Probably my most used piece of kitchen equipment.
01:04I would like to say a good set of pots and pans is worth the investment, and it is, but
01:09if you're not
01:09going to do that, a good Dutch oven and a good deep skillet is all you need. Obviously, it's perfect
01:13for
01:14any kind of sautéing. I also use it to brown and roast meats. It can go from the stove to
01:18the oven,
01:18but I also love this for my one-pot meals, which I make a ton of. And finally, and this
01:23is really
01:23just a personal favorite, a good pepper mill. You'll see these on the store shelves and wonder
01:27why are they so expensive. They are worth it. The flavor of freshly cracked pepper versus something
01:32that you buy pre-ground on the store shelves does not even compare. I use this all the time. And
01:38if
01:38you're ever wanting to send me a gift, I collect them as well.
