00:00The multi, you know, multifaceted threat of a climate crisis, an economic crisis, and a social justice crisis, I think
00:09that kind of New Deal effort would be the only approach to start to address all three in a thoughtful
00:15and meaningful way.
00:18Good for you, Jim.
00:19Thank you very much. The second question, communities of color receive the most harm from the impacts of climate change
00:27and yet receive the least government support to deal with it.
00:32Tell us about one of the committees you are on or hope to be on and the most important actions
00:38that committee could take to fight for climate justice and mitigate the impacts of climate change for all Texans.
00:46Yeah. And I'm I am so thankful that you asked this question and also thankful that young activists have have
00:52really drawn the link between climate change and white supremacy and capitalism in our country.
00:58And I think only ending the ways that all three of those oppressive systems work together, are we going to
01:03be able to begin the process of dismantling them?
01:09We got to talk about a discussion that recently happened on CNN with none or none other than Abby Phillips
01:19show.
01:19You guys are very familiar with Abby Phillips, but, you know, the well-known Jamel Hill.
01:28Yeah. The fired ESPN analyst, my goodness, man, she was on CNN, which is kind of interesting because she used
01:37to be a CNN or ESPN analyst.
01:40And now she's on CNN talking about politics, which, OK, she got fired for talking about sports.
01:48And now she thinks anyway. Yes, she gets absolutely embarrassed or, you know, during this segment here on CNN, because,
01:56of course, we're getting we're coming up closer to the midterms.
01:59And so you have a lot of Democrats, including James Tallarico, who is the Democrat Senate candidate in Texas, who's
02:09running against the Republican Ken Paxton.
02:11So if you live in Texas, Ken Paxton is the guy to vote for. But he's backtracking on a lot
02:17of comments the same way a lot of these Democrat far leftists are doing right now, because they realize and
02:22understand that in a general they aren't going to win with a lot of the things that they have been
02:27saying.
02:27And as a matter of fact, I posted a YouTube short, I don't know, maybe a couple of days ago
02:31of a Democrat admitting on a hidden mic that, you know, when he didn't think he was being recorded, that
02:39that is exactly what is happening.
02:41These them, these far leftists are lying about their their true stances because they realize they won't win if they
02:48told the truth.
02:48So let's hop on into it, shall we? Smack the like button, subscribe if you are new and let's jump
02:53in.
02:55Tonight, is capitalism oppressive? Six years before becoming the Democrat Senate nominee for for Texas, State Representative James Tallarico sure
03:03seemed to believe that was true.
03:06Young activists have have really drawn the link between climate change and white supremacy and capitalism in our country.
03:14And I think only ending the ways that all three of those oppressive systems work together are we going to
03:19be able to begin the process of dismantling them.
03:24Those remarks which were unearthed by CNN's K-File come from a Sierra Club forum Tallarico was participating in back
03:31in 2020.
03:32But at a time that he's hoping to broaden his appeal, Tallarico has been forced to walk back his history
03:38of progressive politics.
03:40A spokesperson for the campaign told CNN that Tallarico has already acknowledged some of his past comments, quote, missed the
03:47mark.
03:47And Tallarico called them cringy. It is what I what some people are calling peak woke.
03:54It's almost like mad, mad, woke, mad libs in that statement.
03:59But I will say right at this moment, he's not alone.
04:04I mean, a lot of Democrats don't think capitalism is working.
04:09It's one thing to not think capitalism is work isn't working.
04:13Ideally, it's another thing entirely to insist that it is oppressive, that it is bound up with white supremacy.
04:19Well, I've always I've always preferred I've always preferred Adam Smith's description of capitalism as the natural system of liberty.
04:27The idea that people can own property, that they can exchange it freely with one another for profit, that they
04:33can find ways to put their resources to good use.
04:36Those private property and profit in a way that is actually beneficial to everyone else, that there can be gains
04:42from trade that are mutually beneficial.
04:44These are foundational ideas that have created more wealth than any other system in human history.
04:50That is what capitalism is.
04:52That is not white supremacy.
04:54Do you think capitalism has always worked that way?
04:55Has all I've just described the actual I've actually just described the basic facts of slavery is an institution that
05:05is older than writing.
05:05It predates capitalism.
05:07The notion that white supremacy and all these other things are bound up with capitalism in an intrinsic and fundamental
05:12way is so absurd and laughable.
05:15It barely needs to be defended.
05:17What do you mean it barely needs to be defended?
05:19It barely needs to be defended.
05:19So basically what she's saying is, well, because capitalism existed when slavery existed, it's a part of it.
05:27He's like, bro, slavery existed long before.
05:30Just because two things coexist doesn't mean that they're connected, which is her whole argument.
05:35Like, it's so I can't use that word on YouTube.
05:42It's so silly.
05:43I'll use that word.
05:44Right.
05:44It's so silly.
05:45You know, like what?
05:47What are you talking about?
05:49What are you talking about?
05:50You know, if her and for her to be sitting there being probably worth at least several million dollars.
05:57Right.
05:58To be sitting here acting as if, you know, she hasn't benefited from this capitalist society in some way, shape
06:05or form while she's worth millions of dollars.
06:07I mean, I don't know her her actual net worth.
06:09Let's let's see here really quick.
06:12Jamel.
06:14He'll net worth.
06:15Let's see.
06:17What does this say?
06:20Four million dollars.
06:23So she's not broke.
06:26She's living a very comfortable life.
06:28And to be sitting here acting as if who wants me?
06:32You know, it's so weird.
06:34You know, so strange.
06:35It needs to be offended.
06:36You actually have to articulate what the connection is.
06:39How are these two things the same?
06:40I'm talking about private property, the right to exchange and sell it with whoever you like.
06:44But you're talking about capitalism in the purest form of how it was intended to work versus how it's actually
06:48working.
06:49I'm talking about how it's working right now today.
06:51What is the white supremacist dynamic of private property?
06:54It's not working well today.
06:55I think that's the problem.
06:56I think the problem is it's not working well today.
06:57I think that for a long time that is a great way to describe it.
07:00Adam Smith capitalism, if we had that, that would be totally different.
07:02I was like, I wish it worked that way.
07:04But we don't have that.
07:04Like, if you look at something like UnitedHealthcare, right?
07:07So if I'm in the business of health insurance, but my job is to give the shareholders the best deal
07:14that they can get.
07:15So then I deny the actual business I'm in to the people who paid me to give them health insurance.
07:20I deny them all the time because it gives my shareholders more money.
07:24That's where capitalism has gone awry.
07:26Government regulates health care.
07:28Yes, I think government regulation is exactly.
07:29I was just about to say that has more to do with the government stepping in the way or stepping
07:34in rather than capitalism being something that's bad.
07:39That's the government doing more than what is necessary.
07:42If the government just got the F out of the way on a lot of this stuff, it would take
07:46care of itself.
07:48This isn't rocket science.
07:49You don't have to be, you know, a scholar in this stuff to know.
07:53Like, this is common sense stuff.
07:55This is basic, basic.
07:58And that's why I say, you know, for a lot of folks who, you know, go to college and graduate
08:03with all these fancy degrees.
08:05I'm like, bro, that doesn't mean that you're intelligent.
08:08Doesn't mean you're intelligent whatsoever.
08:10It just tells me that you have the ability to, you know, remember things very well.
08:18That's all it is.
08:19Because you read a book or you listened in class, you remember what they said, and then you repeated it
08:25back to them in a test, on a test.
08:27That's it.
08:29That's nothing to do with your intelligence.
08:30And, you know, a great example of that is one of these shows, and I talked about this earlier, and
08:37I didn't see any answers in the comment section.
08:40But there's a YouTube channel that actually, in a way, kind of proved this.
08:44Because they brought on a panel of individuals, and I forgot what the show was exactly about, but there's a
08:50whole panel.
08:50I think it was, who has the highest IQ, right?
08:54I think there was a guy who, like, didn't graduate college or anything, and this other chick was like, yeah,
09:00I graduated in astrophysics, and, you know, I got my master's degree, and blah, blah, blah, and we, you know,
09:09make test kits for COVID or something like that, right?
09:12And they ended up taking the IQ test, and that same chick that was talking about, oh, I got my
09:17master's degree in astrophysics, and, you know, the company that I work for now, we make test kits for COVID.
09:23She had the lowest IQ out of the group.
09:26The one who had all these accolades and degrees and all this other stuff had the lowest IQ.
09:34So it proves just simply going to college and graduating college does not mean that you're intelligent, okay?
09:40And we're seeing that with a lot of these individuals throughout society now, but let's continue.
09:45What we need more of when it comes to capitalism, if we want capitalism to work, we actually need regulation,
09:51which we have removed and removed and removed and removed.
09:54So there's only about 11 people who are succeeding.
09:58We're just not catching what either of you are saying.
10:02It's a friendly chat.
10:05Joe, respond to what you were saying about health care, and then you can.
10:10Well, I was saying health care is not something you could say is a pure capitalist thing in this country.
10:13It's probably the industry that is the least capitalist.
10:17The government's the biggest financier of it, the biggest regulator of it.
10:20It's the socialist part of our economy, right?
10:22We do have some democratic socialism.
10:24It is absolutely not the socialist part of our economy.
10:26More than 30% of every dollar spent on health care comes from the government.
10:29Let me have him put a period at the end of the sentence.
10:32I'm always, to piggyback on what Camille said, I'm always fascinated by the Boris Yeltsin image of him visiting the
10:39grocery store and his comments afterwards essentially saying that if people in the Soviet Union knew the abundance and wealth
10:46of a regular grocery store in Texas, they would have a revolution.
10:49And that just is the symbol of how much wealth and success capitalism has been for many years.
10:54Yes, and unfortunately, capitalism is not working like that anymore for most of us.
10:57It actually does, and I think a lot of people would rather still live here in America than to go
11:03live in some of these other places.
11:04And actually, I'm pretty sure I posted another YouTube short because I posted a lot of YouTube shorts.
11:10Those of you that watch my YouTube shorts know I post three of them every single day, three every single
11:15day.
11:16There's 365 days in a year.
11:18Yeah, you do the math.
11:19I got a lot of them, a whole, whole lot, thousands of them.
11:22And so, I believe I remember one where I posted that where a guy, I can't remember exactly where he
11:31came from, maybe Russia?
11:35No, it wasn't Russia.
11:37It was like, I don't know, one of these communist countries, and he went into a grocery store here in
11:45America, and he literally started crying.
11:47He started crying because he had never seen such abundance, never, never, right?
11:57And yet, you have these far leftists and these so-called Democrats who are far leftists and communists wanting to
12:04push us towards the same thing that this guy ran from,
12:07and is now crying because now he sees the true reality of life outside of that.
12:15Harry, Harry, or Ami Horowitz, not Harry, Ami Horowitz made a video on it.
12:21He went to Venezuela.
12:23Some of you guys remember that clip, and he was telling folks in Venezuela, like, yo, there's some Americans who
12:29want communism, who want this,
12:32and they're all like, those Americans are stupid.
12:35They're stupid.
12:36Look at how we're living.
12:38Look at how we're living.
12:39Man, like, these politicians here, they promised us the sun, the moon, the stars, and that we were going to
12:45live this nice, fancy life and beautiful life,
12:48and everybody was going to have enough, and now we're living in squalor.
12:52So any American that wants this, they're an idiot.
12:55And they're right.
12:58Is America perfect?
13:00No.
13:00Is capitalism perfect?
13:01No.
13:02But it's better than any other system known to man.
13:04Man, and just because there are some poor people in capitalism doesn't mean you throw out the baby with the
13:11bathwater.
13:12That's just idiotic.
13:13It's idiotic.
13:16That's just the way the cookie crumbles.
13:19Everybody can't be rich.
13:20Everybody, you know what I mean?
13:21Like, that's just the way the cookie crumbles.
13:24Somebody's got to be at the bottom.
13:26But the beautiful thing about it is, if you want to work hard, if you want to put the work
13:32in, if you want to bust your butt and make the necessary sacrifices, true sacrifices, right, then you can climb
13:40that ladder.
13:41You can get to a different position.
13:44We've watched it time and time again.
13:45Some of us know individuals who came from nothing, who are now multimillionaires.
13:51Right?
13:51So you can't tell me that it's not possible.
13:54A lot of us have watched it.
13:56Okay?
13:57The country.
13:58We have got to a place where we have deregulated everything so much that only a certain handful of people
14:03are actually succeeding in this version of capitalism.
14:06We have gone from laissez-faire capitalism to, like, a predatory capitalism.
14:11And where we are right now, and I've said this a million times, is, like, when you play Monopoly and
14:16somebody has all of the hotels on the whole board, and it doesn't matter if you're playing the game right.
14:20It doesn't matter if you're doing what you're supposed to do.
14:22It doesn't matter if you get the education, if you get the job, you are still always going to lose.
14:26That is where we are in America right now, and that is not how we should want to be.
14:29And I'm saying capitalism is a wonderful system if it is working.
14:32It is not currently working for the American people.
14:34All right, we're going to take a quick break.
14:35It most certainly is.
14:37And I don't, I don't even, what's her name?
14:39We'll resume our conversation.
14:41But I'm pretty sure that she is not hurting for cash either.
14:45So, you know, it's funny that, you know, these wealthy individuals, these people who are, you know, living a very
14:52good life are saying,
14:53you know, this capitalism is a mission working.
14:56Then how'd you get to where you are?
14:58Hmm?
15:00Hmm?
15:01If it's so bad, why aren't you poor and destitute?
15:05Hmm?
15:05Hmm?
15:08It's so silly, man.
15:09It really is.
15:10It's absolutely crazy.
15:11And then the one example that they wanted to harp on was the one example that is like the least
15:17capitalist out of everything.
15:20The government has their hands and feet and everything else into it like a mother lover.
15:25That's the one that they wanted to use.
15:27Oh, well, this isn't working.
15:28Yeah, because the government is involved in it, heavily involved in it.
15:32The government got out of the way, then maybe it would work itself out.
15:36That tends to be the case.
15:39But not.
15:40Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you all and get your thoughts and your opinions on this because
15:44I thought it was an interesting conversation.
15:46And, of course, this segment is making its rounds right now and getting a lot of traction online.
15:52A lot of people are chiming in on this discussion.
15:55So let me know your thoughts and your opinions on it.
15:57As always, like, share, comment, and hit that subscribe button before you go.
16:00Peace and love.
16:02I'm out.
