00:07Number one, we'll talk about the slapgate.
00:10Amadi party leaders have been detained in the Delhi protest.
00:13They have just managed to reach the spot when the police got in there,
00:17got hold of them and they have been detained.
00:19All of this started after, remember, one of the Delhi ministers from the BJP,
00:25Parma, managed to slap one of the Amadi party volunteers
00:28said to be working with Jarnel Singh.
00:31That has led to an FIR, not against a minister,
00:35but against Amadi party leaders for protesting, two of them in fact.
00:38So what exactly are the details and what is it looking like?
00:42Was it provocated? What was exactly said before in the run-up to that slap as well?
00:46All of that is what we'll cover on the program.
00:48Also, Congress versus CEC, the showdown is escalating.
00:53It's seeing no back turn at the moment.
00:55There was an important meeting of the Congress party that happened.
00:59There is also an all party, all opposition meeting of the India alliance
01:04that is likely to take place.
01:06In that as well, we are likely to see what will be the next step

03:38After PWD Minister Parvesh Farma was seen slapping Amadi Party worker Sahib Singh during a heated exchange
03:45over the condition of a newly laid road, Amadi Party leader and workers gathered at Delhi police headquarters
03:51to hold a protest demanding registration of an FIR against Parvesh Farma.
03:55But several of them, including Amadi Party MLA Jarlayal Singh
03:59and the Delhi Amadi Party chief Saurabh Bharatwaj were detained soon after.
04:05The workers there, Sahib Singh and Jarlayal Singh
04:08have also been booked for assaulting a Delhi's police official.
04:12In fact, a Delhi police head constable and obstructing official duty.
04:16According to the Delhi police, the head constable was recording a video
04:20during Arvind Keshival's visit to Tilak Nagar
04:23when a crowd of Amadi Party supporters allegedly surrounded and assaulted him.
04:27Now, what's interesting is this is exactly the sequence of events
04:30just turned against instead of the video this time being shot
04:34instead of the Delhi police constable by the Amadi Party supporter
04:38and that was what happened yesterday.
04:41On the other hand, another FIR was launched against Jarlayal Singh
04:44based on complaint of the PWD engineers.
04:46The FIR was filed over charges of obstructing official work
04:49as well as intimidating and threats.
04:52That's, in all, two FIRs against Jarlayal Singh.
04:56However, against the Minister Parvesh Farma,
04:59who is seen on camera slapping,
05:01Delhi police has registered a non-cognizable report.
05:05Singh action has been taken based on legal provisions
05:08applicable to the complaint.
05:11Now, Sahib Singh, who was slapped,
05:13has said that he tried hard to get an FIR registered
05:17but couldn't, pointing out that an FIR was filed
05:20when a girl spoke against the Prime Minister.
05:24But no FIR has been registered against a minister slapping a man.
05:32Saurabh Bhardwaj and other leaders of the Amadi Party
05:35are carrying out a protest outside the police headquarters
05:38and as soon as they have reached over here,
05:40they are being detained by the Delhi police.
05:42You can see in these visuals that this is the road.
05:44This is the Ashoka road that leads straight towards the police headquarters
05:47where the police commissioner's office is.
05:49Basically, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Jarlayal Singh and other leaders of the Amadi Party
05:54gave a call of a protest over here.
05:56They demanded that there should be an FIR
05:59that should be registered against Parvesh Farma
06:03for the manner in which he has gone ahead and slapped Sahib Singh.
06:07They say that they are still not happy
06:09with the manner in which the Delhi police has just registered
06:13an NCR and not an FIR drama
06:16that is unfolding on the streets of Ashoka road over here.
06:20One after the other, one after the other,
06:22people are being picked up and are being taken away.
06:24This entire area in which approximately 50 to 60 workers
06:28of the Amadi Party had gathered,
06:30they are now being detained and are now being taken away.
06:34Delhi police had made it absolutely clear
06:37that there is no permission of any sort of a protest
06:39and hence they should ensure they should accept
06:44the orders that have come in from the Delhi police.
06:48Over here, Jarlayal Singh is now trying to stop people
06:51from being detained.
06:52He is now also being taken away with the MLA
06:54from Dilak Nagar, the man in the center of this entire storm.
06:58No protests can happen in any way or any manner
07:00for any protest to happen.
07:02Jantar Mantar is beside and even to protest at Jantar Mantar,
07:06it is absolutely necessary to take permission.
07:08So, no permission granted.
07:10However, these people, these leaders from the Amadi Party
07:13had reached over here and now they have been detained
07:16by the Delhi police.

07:21All right, Anshul Singh joins us for more details on this story.
07:24Anshul, just make sense of the entire timeline for me.
07:28There is one slap versus the other slap.
07:32Then there is one FIR versus one complaint.
07:35And if I compare the slap that was,
07:40I know how ridiculous this sounds,
07:41but let me just go over this one more time.
07:44So, initially, Parvesh Verma is seen on camera
07:47slapping an Amadi Party volunteer.
07:50Somebody who is said to be working Jarnel Singh's social media.
07:54Then, a day after that, Delhi police releases a video
07:58that in a protest that Amadi Party was carrying out,
08:00Amadi Party volunteers have slapped a Delhi cop.
08:04Am I getting this right?
08:05And in both cases, if there is an FIR against one,
08:08why isn't there an FIR against the other?
08:11Well, the clarification of what the Delhi police is claiming
08:14at this point in time,
08:15that the FIR that has been done
08:17or the action that has been taken
08:18in form of an NCR against Parvesh Verma
08:21is based on the content of the complaint.
08:23Now, the content of the complaint
08:25that was against Parvesh Verma,
08:27it was that he had gone ahead and slapped a certain person
08:30and the MLC of that person was done.
08:32There were no previous or any injuries for that matter
08:35that were found on that person.
08:36And hence, the Delhi police says
08:38that there was absolutely no reason to register a FIR.
08:41There are no sections that actually mandate an FIR
08:43in such instances.
08:45In many cases of violence that we saw
08:48like what happened between Parvesh Verma and Saheb Singh,
08:52generally there are no NCRs that are also lost
08:55because generally there is an out-of police station settlement
08:58that happens between the accused and the victim.
09:02But in this case, there was a lot of pressure
09:04and hence, they decided to do away with the NCR.
09:09On the other hand, the complaint that was given
09:11from the side of the PWD engineer
09:13and then eventually from the side of the head constable
09:15of the Delhi police,
09:17the PWD engineer had gone ahead and said
09:20that Jarnal Singh along with his supporters
09:22came and stopped him from doing his work,
09:26which is a cognizable offense.
09:28And hence, an FIR was mandated in that case,
09:31though these sections that have been put up
09:34are all available sections
09:35and there is no need of an immediate arrest
09:37and that is the reason why we are seeing
09:38that no immediate arrest has happened
09:41in this entire case.
09:42However, it is very, very likely
09:43that the Delhi police could call Jarnal Singh
09:46and Saheb Singh to the police station
09:48to record their statements
09:49and then subsequently take a decision
09:51if at all an arrest in this entire matter is necessary.
09:54But that is highly unlikely at this point in time.
09:56Apart from that, the second complaint
09:57that has been given from this side of the head...
09:59Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:59And should just hold on, hold on,
10:00because I want to get something straight here.
10:03So, because the nature of injuries
10:07with the slap that the Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma
10:12had made towards Saheb Singh,
10:16the Ahmadi Party volunteer,
10:17because the nature of injuries were not grave enough,
10:20that's the reason given for not registering an FIR?
10:25Well, yes, if the injuries that could have been sustained
10:30by Saheb Singh, if at all they were even slightly fatal in nature,
10:34then sections of attempt to murder could have been added
10:37depending upon the nature of the injury person.
10:40So, can you juxtapose that, now can you juxtapose that
10:42with the nature of injuries on the constable
10:43where an FIR has been filed?
10:47What is the nature of injuries there?
10:49So, even in that FIR, these sections that have been imposed
10:52are not regarding the nature of injuries,
10:54but it is regarding stopping a government servant
10:57from carrying out his duty while he is on official work.
11:01And this is a cognizable offence,
11:04and that is the reason why these sections have been imposed,
11:06and hence, it is a bailable section,
11:09and that is the reason why there have been no arrests per se
11:13that has been made.
11:14The nature of injuries, even to the head constable,
11:16remain absolutely non-grievous.
11:19There are no grievous injuries that have been sustained,
11:21and hence, there are no criminal sections per se,
11:24or sections that are very stringent in nature
11:28that warrant an immediate arrest.
11:30These sections have not been imposed,
11:31Last question before I let you go.
11:33Last question before I let you go.
11:35What happened today when the protest of the Ahmadi party was going on?
11:39I made to believe that even before they could start the protest,
11:42they were all collected and detained.
11:44Is that exactly what transpired?
11:47Well, definitely, in a matter of minutes,
11:50in approximately 10 minutes,
11:51approximately 30 to 40 workers of the Ahmadi party
11:53had gathered at Ashoka Road.
11:55They were stopped right at the roundabout of the Ashoka Road,
11:57and as soon as they gathered over there,
11:59suddenly buses of Delhi police came,
12:01and within a matter of 10 minutes,
12:02all of these people were taken into custody,
12:04and what we have been told that they have been detained
12:05and have now been taken to outer Delhi somewhere in Badarpur,
12:08where they would be allowed to let go of detention.
12:11So, this is something that the Delhi police was absolutely prepared for,
12:14because Saurabh Bhadwaj himself had yesterday claimed
12:16that he would be coming over there.
12:17An official message was also given to the media this morning,
12:20and hence, the Delhi police was prepared
12:21that as soon as he'll arrive over here,
12:23he will be taken away.
12:25But yes, a meeting with the commissioner of police
12:28is something that the Ahmadi party would have wanted,
12:31and that is something that has not been allowed to them at this point.
12:35However, in other cases, we have very clearly seen
12:37that it is not a big deal to go ahead
12:39and meet with the commissioner of police
12:41with a complaint in their hand,
12:42or to go ahead and say that this is the kind of action
12:45that they want,
12:46and this is a very, very legal process.
12:48But in this case, the Ahmadi party leaders
12:51probably did not ask for it,
12:53or the Delhi police had made up their mind already
12:56that they would not let them get anywhere close
12:58to the police headquarters.
12:59All right, we leave it there for the moment.
13:01It's one slap versus the other slap,
13:04one non-complaint versus the other complaint.

13:14the Election Commission Rao is now testing opposition unity.
13:19After its CWC meeting,
13:21the Congress has put forward five demands,
13:23including the resignation of the Prime Minister
13:26and also the CEC, Gyanesh Kumar.
13:29The BJP has hit back,
13:30but the bigger challenge for Congress comes tomorrow.
13:33The India bloc beats in Delhi
13:36to discuss a joint strategy on EC and SIR Rao,
13:40but not everyone is just about ready for it.
13:44Meanwhile, Rahul Kanthi visited Delhi's Yamuna Bank on Monday
13:48and claimed that over 700 people living in the area
13:51were on electoral rolls before.
13:54But after the special investigative revision that took place,
13:58only one name remains on the entire roll.

14:14Political slugfest over the special intensive revision
14:18of the electoral rolls or SIR is intensifying.
14:21The Congress on Tuesday held a crucial meeting ahead of the opposition India bloc meeting,
14:28listing five crucial demands against what it called
14:31our irregularities in the poll rolls,
14:35seeking transparency in poll data and decisions,
14:39a probe into lapses and making poll roll changes public.
14:45The Congress also continued its attack on the BJP and the Election Commission,
14:50accusing the Narendra Modi government of hollowing out democracy
14:55and calling the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar,
14:58the government's puppet.
15:02The chief election commissioner is completely compromised.
15:06The election system of this country is rigged.
15:10Whether it is EVM machine or it is waterless,
15:16both of them are compromised.
15:19The India bloc will hold a key meeting on Wednesday,
15:23which will be attended by several top leaders of the opposition bloc.
15:28However, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav is staying away
15:33amid reports of a rift over siege sharing in Uttar Pradesh.
15:38While Shiv Sena UBT Chief Uddhav Thakre will attend the meet virtually,
15:44the BJP on the other hand,
15:46hit back at the opposition bloc meeting.
16:17The leader of opposition Rahul Ghani.
16:19Gandhi visited Delhi's Yamuna Bank on Monday
16:22and claimed more than 700 people living in the area
16:26were on the electoral rolls before.
16:29But after the special intensive revision,
16:32only one name remains on the roll.
16:35He has alleged this amounts to vote chori.
16:54The election commission has pushed back against Rahul Gandhi's allegations,
16:59saying that the area was earlier used for agricultural activity,
17:03which ended in 2021,
17:06while the dwelling units there were demolished in 2022-23.
17:11The election commission said BLOs could not find people
17:15residing at those registered addresses
17:17during the SIR verification process.
17:21India today visited the Yamuna Bank area in Delhi
17:24to cross-check Rahul Gandhi's claims.
17:52Very recently, their names have been struck off from the electoral list.
17:56And obviously, they are now scared
18:00that whether they'll actually be able to
18:03take benefits of government schemes or not,
18:06or whether they'll actually be able to
18:07now participate in voting exercise or not.
18:11The opposition wants nothing short of C.E.C. Gyanesh Kumar's sacking.
18:18Will the government continue to back him and push back?

18:40the CWC meeting that went on today.
18:43Well, we are now told that it was about two and a half hours.
18:45That's how long the CWC meeting lasted,
18:47with several leaders heaping praise on Rahul Gandhi
18:50for his early warnings and for flagging alleged malpractices
18:54in the SIR exercise and the electoral process.
18:58When a leader said that the credit for this went to Rahul Gandhi,
19:01he responded by saying,
19:02the credit goes to the Congress.
19:03I have no identity without the Congress.
19:06Those are internal things that have come out from that meeting.
19:09A CWC member even remarked that C.E.C. Gyanesh Kumar
19:13was very obstinate and would never resign.
19:18Priyanka Ji immediately responded by saying that,
19:21why will he not resign?
19:22Didn't Dharmint Pradhan resign?
19:24He had to.
19:26We will keep agitating on the streets
19:28and build momentum till he is forced to resign,
19:32the leader said.
19:33Those are internal details of that Congress Working Committee meeting
19:37that have come out.
19:38Moshmee Singh joins us for more.
19:39She's got all these details from her sources there inside the meeting.
19:43Moshmee, so am I reading it right
19:45that how there was a protest,
19:48a nationwide protest that came out from the youth,
19:52came from Kokoro Janata Party
19:53for the removal of, you know, Dharmint Pradhan.
19:57A similar template will be tried out
19:59by the Congress Party for the removal of the C.E.C.?
20:05Perhaps, you know, it's very interesting
20:08because that remark was made by Priyanka Gandhi
20:11as our sources told us in the light of the fact
20:15that there was an entire agitation by the CJP
20:18over Dharmint Pradhan and they had taken to the streets
20:22to which Priyanka Gandhi said,
20:24we are not dependent on anybody.
20:26The Congress has been raising this entire E.C. Rao
20:31for quite some time now.
20:32We've been battling on the ground
20:34and we can, you know, the Congress can in time
20:39in fact amplify that momentum
20:41to make sure that we force Dhanesh Kumar to resign.
20:45So it was said in that light,
20:47saying that the Congress is enough.
20:49It is not dependent on anybody
20:50and we don't need the help of any other forces
20:53in fact to get to the streets
20:56and get the people to rally behind this entire issue
21:01is what Priyanka Gandhi said.
21:02There are very interesting political discussions there
21:06that happened where Rahul Gandhi also pointed out
21:09to the fact that the CWC members should in fact,
21:12you know, believe in the fact that the HM and the PM,
21:16that China is up and they're about to go
21:19and the Congress is raising the right issues.
21:22So they should believe in what the party is raising
21:25is what Rahul Gandhi appeals to the members.
21:29Yeah, but interesting times, no, Moshmi.
21:32Congress seems to want to be the only party talking about it
21:36while they're also trying to rally
21:39the other opposition members.
21:41We understand tomorrow there is an India Alliance meeting as well.
21:45Akhile Shadha has said that he's not attending.
21:47He's sending some senior leaders,
21:48but he's not coming.
21:48Of course, the backdrop is that, you know,
21:50UP elections are on
21:51and there's a hard negotiation going on on seats
21:53between the SP and the Congress over there as well.
21:56But keeping all of this in mind,
21:58what exactly is the strategy in the mind of Rahul Gandhi
22:01that the Congress will go ahead with?
22:03They say more protests,
22:04but does that mean only protest of the Youth Congress
22:07like we saw today?
22:08Only protest of netas of the Congress?
22:11Or united protest of all opposition parties?
22:14What are we looking at?
22:17So really, you know, this is,
22:19I think the Congress wants to make it very clear.
22:22And that's why we've seen Congress protesting solo in the beginning
22:26to make sure they underline the fact
22:29that Rahul Gandhi has been raising this issue
22:31when there were many members of the Allies
22:34who had said that this is not possible
22:37and if your job is done well,
22:40then how can you raise suspicion over the EVM
22:42or the electoral roll?
22:44So, you know, there was a real drive
22:47that many Allied members and Rahul Gandhi said
22:49that we have been raising this issue
22:52even that nobody believed it.
22:54And to which many said,
22:55credit goes to you.
22:57So Rahul Gandhi said,
22:58no, not to me,
22:59but to the Congress
23:00because I'm nothing.
23:01I have no identity without the Congress.
23:03So the Congress underlining that there, Sonal,
23:07that, you know,
23:08it was the Congress
23:09and now the several units
23:11will take to the streets of the Congress
23:14and we are doing that.
23:15And then they will take it to the India block
23:17and perhaps increase that ambit
23:19to the BJD, the BRS
23:21or who knows, maybe the ARP,
23:23but I doubt that.
23:24But yes, they would want to increase the ambit
23:28to in fact target this against the BJP,
23:31use this as a target against the BJP.
23:34And that's why we see that tomorrow's meeting
23:36is going to be very crucial
23:38as far as what,
23:39whether all the other India block members agree to it.
23:43A little small detail I would like to give you
23:45is that the Samaj Wadi party apparently has told
23:48and Akhleesh Yadav has told
23:50the top brass of the Congress
23:51that the Raj Sabha elections are underway.
23:54They are prepping up for the Raj Sabha elections
23:56and that's the reason
23:58that he would not be able to make it in person
24:01and send a representative.
24:03It's also important to highlight
24:04this is not the first time
24:06that Akhleesh Yadav has sent representative
24:08to the India block meeting
24:11and he's been unable to attend.
24:12Right.
24:13Moshami, in the beginning you mentioned
24:15the five demands the CWC has put forward now
24:18when it comes to the CEC.
24:21Could you take us through
24:23what exactly are these five demands?
24:27So if you look at the demand,
24:30one is the second,
24:31in fact the resignation of Janesh Kumar
24:34that he should immediately resign.
24:36You know, the striking off of these 13 crore voters
24:41that have been disenfranchised,
24:44revoking that decision,
24:46scrapping of the entire SIR exercise
24:49and our entire rethink and reboot.
24:52These are the three primary demands
24:55primary demands
24:56that she mentioned in the resolution.
24:59The two additional demands
25:01is what Mr. Kharge mentioned in his speech also.
25:05It was about giving the voters enough time
25:08to in fact register their protests,
25:11give in their papers
25:12and not chasing a deadline
25:15and also reposing faith,
25:18listening to the opposition,
25:19giving opposition a hearing
25:21similar to that
25:22of the ruling party members
25:25is what Kharge has demanded.
25:27So, you know,
25:28very interesting that
25:29it also talks about
25:30the resignation of the prime minister
25:32and the home minister.
25:34The resolution goes on to add
25:37that the prime minister
25:38and the home minister
25:39should resign
25:40because their situation is unchanable.
25:42The members have been elected,
25:44the parliament have been elected
25:46illegally.
25:47The 2024 electoral process
25:49was illegal
25:50and therefore,
25:52you know,
25:52the laws being passed
25:53in the parliament are illegal.
25:54So, this is a very huge
25:56aggressive attack.
25:58Aggressive attack indeed
25:59and while there was praise for Rahul Gandhi,
26:00there were some snide remarks
26:02at Shashi Tharoor as well.
26:04So, stay back with us,

26:06as we take our viewers
26:07through that next set of details

26:11that emerged from that meeting,
26:12Congress President Mr. Kharkir
26:14once again took a dig
26:14at Shashi Tharoor.
26:16Shashi Tharoor had suggested
26:17that Congress should
26:18organize something around
26:20Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.
26:22Now, Kharkir turned to Tharoor
26:25and asked whether he would
26:26actually be present
26:27if the party organized
26:28such an event
26:28or whether they would see him
26:30only on social media platforms
26:32like X.
26:33Now, remember,
26:34just for context here,
26:35this is not the first time
26:36Mr. Kharkir has taken a dig
26:37at Shashi Tharoor
26:38at a previous Congress
26:39Working Committee meeting.
26:40The Congress President
26:41had taken a wild jibe
26:43at Mr. Tharoor
26:44saying that good-looking netas
26:45who are popular on television
26:47and write articles
26:47in newspapers
26:48should have taken up
26:50the Shuddhi Karan issue
26:51with the same spirit as well.
26:54So, all is not well
26:55over there
26:56between Mr. Kharkir
26:57or perhaps the top brass
26:58of the Congress Party
27:00and Mr. Shashi Tharoor.
27:02But let me go back to Moshmi
27:03to get some more details on this.
27:04Moshmi, not really the first time
27:06but help me understand this.
27:08Does this really happen
27:09in the presence of all leaders
27:11that this very open banter
27:14is going on
27:14or is it a banter really?
27:16Is it a snide remark?
27:17Is Mr. Tharoor taking it
27:18in good spirits
27:20as they say
27:21or are we to conclude
27:23that this is
27:25all is not well
27:26and perhaps
27:27the elephant in the room
27:28is not the elephant
27:29in the room anymore?
27:31Everybody is very vocally
27:33visibly aware
27:34of the differences
27:35the increasing differences
27:38that Shashi Tharoor
