00:12most pleased with with the way your team responded well i was most pleased with the uh the fact we
00:20played complimentary football you know all three phases kicked in that game and and uh helped us
00:26win and you know and when we were deficient in one area for for a period of time you know
00:32the other
00:32two units picked us up and so you know that that's that always fires you up because that's what
00:38winning teams do um and you got to be able to do that you know throughout the season coming out
00:44of
00:44the buffalo game clearly there was a lot of questions and a long list of things to fix
00:48the secondary took a lot of shots because of the way that they played in that game how did you
00:54see
00:54them be better against the jets well we did we cleaned up a lot of stuff you know there and
01:02there's still more to go um you know it's like i told the team and and told those guys i
01:08mean we're
01:08in a race to improve and and uh you know it's how fast can we get a little bit better
01:14here and find
01:15ways to win um you know while we figure out our own team but but what i was pleased with
01:21defensively was
01:22you know those guys on the back end um i thought we were we were much more detailed um you
01:29know we
01:30we played quite a bit of coverage there um and so i felt like man we were in phase we
01:36were where
01:36we're supposed to be um and and so now it's now that we're in phase we're where we're supposed to
01:44be
01:44now we just got to finish on the ball you know that that'll be the next step here but it's
01:49i saw
01:50progress we saw ennis rakstra for the first time this year was that something that he had had been
01:56showing in practice he earned the right to be out there or was it just trying to do something
02:00different um which was the decision to to get him in the game well i mean you know he he
02:07really had a
02:08strong the end of training camp he he was coming on pretty strong and then he had the ankle
02:13um and and so we couldn't use him week one anyway really um with where we were at so as
02:20he's come
02:20back from that been practicing he's done a nice job in practice and then um and so we just wanted
02:27to
02:28get him involved you know we'd like to get all those guys involved i mean i'd like to use all
02:33of
02:33them i mean rock is still a big part of what we do you got reed over there on the
02:37other side
02:38uh mccrary you know is doing some pretty good things he you know played outside and then still
02:44kicks in the nickel and then rake did some nice things so i just i'd like to be able to
02:49play all
02:49those guys if we can dan in both wins you guys have given up big leads but then you find
02:55a way to win
02:55on the final play what is this group learning about closing things out
03:02well we we had a chance uh fourth and one you know that that we didn't capitalize on
03:09and and you'd like to think that uh you know we could we could hold that lead a little bit
03:18looking at the offense and especially the offensive line um one is there any update on
03:24cade mays but after you answer that one juice scruggs it feels like he's really stepped in
03:31and filled the void in in the absence of cade yeah cade's doing a good job i you know i
03:39just i think
03:39i think that'll it'll be hard for him to make it this week he's just not quite there um you
03:46know
03:46right now we're we're kind of hoping around the bye somewhere in there before or after the bye
03:52with him but he's he's he's doing a great job he really is um and as far as juice you're
03:58absolutely
03:59right john and juice man what it was a heck of a job you know brad getting him in here
04:05with us
04:05because he really fits us i mean he's a pro man he's high energy he's the same guy every day
04:11he busts
04:12his tail um and he's getting better he's getting better for us at the center position so um man he's
04:19a
04:19good fit for us when cade does come back will juice be in the in the in the running for
04:24the
04:24competition at that left guard spot absolutely with the competition uh devin white was inactive
04:32on game day you got a chance to see a little more of rodrigo and rolder was also active
04:36do you expect that to be the plan moving forward uh i think that's that could trend that way i
04:44mean
04:44look d white is still here and there's things that that devin does that uh not everybody can do
04:51and we know that but right now you know if you're just looking at the totality of defense plus special
04:57teams uh the six we brought to the game are the those are the ones that that we can use
05:03the most
05:04right now and so i thought rolder on special teams did a nice job for somebody who's never played in
05:09the
05:09nfl in a real game to go out there and cut it loose uh that was impressive um now now
05:16it's got
05:16to stay that way you know he's got to do it again um but that was good you know and
05:21in the back is
05:22kind of like what we just talked about with the corners man i will play all those guys we can
05:26use
05:26all of them i mean rodrigo see if we get rolder in a little bit on defense certainly nowowski
05:32um you know and you got barnes and jack i mean who are staples for us so uh and then
05:38we brought
05:38amon for special teams but i mean we're going to use all those guys and wherever we can spread the
05:43load spread reps as long as we trust them in the game which we do or we wouldn't put them
05:48in there
05:48uh between you know that and then the wrong special teams we'll use them man it'll it'll be good for
05:55us
05:55you guys have only scored seven points in the first three first quarters this year
06:00what have been the challenges the offense has faced starting games off
06:06yeah really finding our rhythm uh one of the things we said we just got to get the first first
06:11down in
06:11this game we did you know and and we we were able to get going here got a couple of
06:17first downs and
06:17then you know we we get we're getting that third down uh and we you know we get hit in
06:24protection so
06:25uh that's self-induced you know and uh we do what we're supposed to do then then uh we can
06:32keep keep
06:33rolling there but uh but look it was it's still not good enough of a start but it's at least
06:39we're
06:39better than we were the first two weeks we're finally finding a little rhythm no three and outs
06:43that's important um but it's something we just got to stay on top of man there's got to be a
06:49sense of
06:49urgency and uh you know we got to get a fire lit early with these guys talking to lions head
06:55coach
06:55dan campbell you gave jameer gibbs a game ball after the game and when you're passing guys like
07:00billy sims i mean yeah the the run he had on his first touchdown people were comparing to another
07:05lions great barry sanders do you see that comparison with some of the moves that gibbs makes
07:10well he's he's got things in his body that certainly reminds you of buried um he's he's
07:18his change of direction is his acceleration uh speed the power the body control i mean he's he's
07:27different he's different that way um and he sure is sure as heck is fun to watch you know so
07:35and the best part of all this we haven't even tapped in everything he's got i believe that i
07:41mean he's got so much room to grow um but i'm glad he's ours we are too yeah but uh
07:49a guy that uh
07:50it's hard to imagine a quarterback going under the radar but i don't know that people around the nfl
07:55have taken notice to what jared goff is doing to this point through three games eight touchdowns
08:00no interceptions he's been really good is do you do you as well think he's a little bit
08:06underappreciated at this point i always feel that way uh with golf i you know i don't ever i don't
08:14feel like he gets the credit he deserves but there again you know the only thing that's going to change
08:18any of these narratives is for us to win and uh and then and then you know so be it
08:25but until then
08:26he'll just keep doing his job and helping us win and playing at a very high level and uh you
08:32know
08:33he's another guy i mean it it's you know when you're able to play the position uh the quarterback
08:41position like he does and make the decisions he he does with the discipline and uh and detail of it
08:49man that's that that's something else i mean the guy can throw he's an accurate passer uh you know
08:55we put a lot on and a lot of the kill packages and all that but it's just you know
09:00he's matured so
09:01much throughout the years and now it's you know hey if you're not going to give it to me i'll
09:05tell
09:05you i'll just dump it down one more time and that's that's not always easy when you're you know
09:10you're a young passer in this league you want to try to make plays or you know uh and he's
09:15just he
09:16stayed patient with it and then when it's there he's he's hit it so i'm proud of him man he's
09:21playing
09:21at a high level right now numbers aside everybody talks about elite traits what is maybe the the one
09:28elite trait you think jared goff has the one elite trait that he has yeah or maybe the most elite
09:36trait
09:37well man the most there's a bunch that are up there his i don't know if there's anybody that's
09:45more focused than him um when it when it comes time to digest a game plan and and now it's
09:51getting
09:52ready for a game and going into that game i mean he's on it now uh he's very focused and
09:57when you
09:57have his ability uh he's a prototype quarterback with a big arm and he's accurate and and you can
10:04stay focused and you're on top of all the little details and i can't even tell you how many things
10:09we
10:09throw at him the amount of information that he's got to know to get us into the right play uh
10:17it's
10:18there's not many in this league that they're asked to do as much as he does and he does a
10:22phenomenal job
10:24felt like against the jets you had a lot of guys step up and we've been highlighting some of those
10:28role guys that that filled in well i want to ask about derrick moore what needs to happen for him
10:33to
10:33contribute more uh moving forward yeah he's just he needs reps you know and he's got to he's got to
10:41continue to try to turn it on here you know i i thought there was flickers there that were better
10:46than certainly buffalo um but you know right now we're going to use him at as we see fit here
10:54and see
10:54if we can get him to grow a little bit and once he starts taking the next step then he's
10:59going to get
10:59more um you know so the ball's in his court but he's a young player and every every young player
11:06grows at a different rate some hit it quick some it takes half a season some it takes a year
11:11um
11:13you know but the kid's working in practice and i would anticipate he's going to find he's going to
11:19find his way here pretty soon you guys are going to play a primetime game against carolina uh what are
11:24some concerns you have about this panthers team well uh obviously they the quarterback's an issue
11:32i mean he's a good player uh quick processor quick release um you know he's they're they're asking
11:40and they're putting it in his hands a ton this year different than last year um you know the back's
11:45a
11:45hard runner downhill they got some some towers that receiver um big you know play above the rim type guys
11:52um and then that defense you know uh you know i know they've given up some yards some running yards
12:01stuff like that rushing yards early here after three weeks a lot of that was chicago week one but
12:06that's a salty defense the same same defensive coordinator that's been there it's very sound
12:12defense they play hard and that's what shows up to me i mean these guys they got ability they got
12:18talent got phillips and brown over there and um and man these guys play hard man and it's the same
12:24system they've been in it's it's uh they play sticky defense and and then they'll pressure a little bit
12:30so we got our hands full with this one you know sunday night in charlotte it'll be um it'll be

12:38pretty good environment there it's gonna be good and loud and we got to be able to handle the noise
