Hello, citizens of Acity!
Today’s featured work, [The Showroom], was written based on the theories of sociologist Erving Goffman: "The Presentation of Self," combined with Jean Baudrillard’s theory of "Sign Value." Goffman viewed us all as actors performing specific roles on the stage of society. Baudrillard further analyzed that modern leaders complete their power not just by performing their roles, but by consuming and exhibiting the "Signs" that symbolize that success. This project visualizes the daily life of a successful leader through the dialectics of the "Front Stage" and the "Back Stage."
The line "Consuming my own sign" in the lyrics sings of the modern individual who internalizes and exhibits the image of success demanded by society. Furthermore, the declaration "I rule the scene tonight" reflects the dignity of a sovereign who controls the signs rather than being trapped by the gaze of others.
The perfection for show, and the cold solitude hidden behind it. Following the gaze of the designer who has forged her success into a Sign and built her own perfect showroom, I hope you enjoy a time of pleasant contemplation as you stand as the true master of your own stage, unbound by the eyes of others.
