Hello, citizens of Acity!
Today’s featured work, [Act II], was written based on the theory of "The Presentation of Self" by sociologist Erving Goffman. Goffman viewed our lives as a theater performance. People perform a perfect version of themselves in the "Front Stage" where they are seen by others, but only in the "Back Stage," where there is no audience, do they take off their masks and reveal their true existence. This project visualizes a sovereign subject who edits and governs the narrative of her own life, contrasting the glamor of the social persona of a successful leader with the human vitality hidden behind it.
The line "I hold the master print and turn the page" in the lyrics sings of the subjective attitude of one who edits and leads her own social narrative. Furthermore, the declaration "I’m not just the shiny role... I am the exhausted soul" reflects the designer's resolve to embrace the gap between her persona and her existence, sublimating the entire process into her own "art."
A time when perfection is demanded on stage, and a moment to catch your breath behind the scenes. Following the gaze of the designer who orchestrates her own narrative through every moment, I hope you enjoy a time of pleasant contemplation as you step away from the gaze of others and face your true self.
