Hello, citizens of Acity!
Today’s featured work, [The Stranger], was written based on the core theories of the metropolitan sociologist Georg Simmel: "The Metropolis and Mental Life" and "The Stranger." Simmel analyzed that amidst the complex stimulations of a big city, humans adopt a "Blasé" attitude—an indifference toward others—as a defense mechanism. Yet, paradoxically, individuals also feel an even stronger desire to assert their uniqueness within that anonymity. This project visualizes a subject who stands still amidst the flowing crowds of the city, radiating her own presence.
The line "The Stranger! Standing still alone while the river rushes by" in the lyrics sings of the dignity of a being who maintains her own peaceful center even within the vortex of the city. Furthermore, the declaration "Sovereignty preserved, not a gear in the wheel" reflects the pride of a modern nomad who proves her own irreplaceable value amidst the anonymous crowd.
A center that never wavers, even in the midst of a grand flow where everyone else is swept away. What makes your presence shine even brighter might be the solitude you hold, a step back from the noise. Following the gaze of the designer who hones her own aura by distancing herself from others, I hope you enjoy a time of pleasant contemplation as you discover the true spiritual freedom that comes from keeping your distance.
