00:00The first nor'easter of the season and the first high tide of the weekend causing big issues all up
00:06and down the Jersey Shore here in Seabright, New Jersey. You can see just how much coastal flooding we're dealing
00:13with. There are swift water rescues that are happening, including this crew that has a boat coming down Ocean Avenue.
00:19One of the people that had to be rescued today is a former firefighter.
00:24Got out of bed and got ready for breakfast. There was no water. Twenty minutes later I checked outside and
00:29there was close to three feet of water. My car was submerged and we had to be rescued from the
00:34house. That quick.
00:36The firemen are the heroes. They're the heroes. We got out by boat. I'm a retired fireman. I'm used to
00:41doing the rescuing and today I was rescued.
00:43It's rapids that are happening street to street with the river coming in. The town was well prepared for this
00:48bill because we saw it coming. And while we do have typically have storms here in Seabright, this is probably
00:52one of the worst we've seen in years.
00:54The real message here is stay in the house. Don't come out. Put yourself at risk or put first responders
00:58at risk. The high tide cycles throughout this weekend combined with the full moon going to pull in even more
01:05water and cause more of these coastal flooding issues across coastal New Jersey and up and down the northeast coast.
01:12Officials are urging people if they can to stay home and avoid trying to drive on these flooded roads because
01:17these rescue crews have been busy with nonstop calls for help.
