00:00I grabbed two oven mitts from my local dollar store and we're going to create some festive
00:04door decor. We're going to just take the two hangers and put one inside of another. I grabbed
00:10some narrow red velvet from Nick's SeasonalDecor.com and I'm just going to string it through, cut
00:16off a length, and tie it together. Now we're going to create a little bow to hide the knot.
00:21All we're going to do is create a bow tie. So we're going to do one loop and a second
00:26loop. And we're going to cut it off with a second tail. To secure our bow, I'm going
00:34to take a pipe cleaner. You can also find these on our website and just create a little tie
00:40to keep this bow in place. By using a red pipe cleaner, you're not going to end up seeing
00:45it in the middle. Cut off our pipe cleaner and secure that right where the knot is. We're
00:54going to take it one step further and dovetail our tails by folding in half and cutting from
01:00the middle out towards the wired edge at an angle. And that just provides a little finishing
01:05touch to the ends of your tails. We also grabbed a block of foam from our store. You can place
01:12this inside your oven mitts and that way your floor will stay in place. However, with the
01:18simplicity, we're going to just work in this beautiful spruce with the berries and pinecones
01:23attached. And all we have to do is just place that right inside the oven mitt. You could
01:28put these on your handrails. You could put these by your fireplace. You could put these
01:33in your kitchen cabinets. Now let's hang this up and show you how it turned out. And here
01:37is how it looks, you guys. I absolutely love it. And it was so budget friendly. We used two
01:41oven mitts that were a dollar each, a little bit of greenery, and some leftover ribbon from Nick's
01:46SeasonalDecor.com. I absolutely love it. And you can do this in any color combination.
01:50And you can switch it out for stockings or other decor. I grabbed some flannel fabric from
01:55Walmart and a wreath from Nick's SeasonalDecor.com. And we're going to create the perfect Christmas
01:59in July wreath. With this tartan plait, it makes it nice and easy because we essentially
02:04want little square pieces of fabric. So I'm going to begin by just keeping my fabric whole,
02:09taking some really sharp scissors that you can also find from Nick's Seasonal Decor. And
02:13I am going to cut right between the two different colors. We'll do the same thing again. Most
02:20importantly, like I said, really sharp scissors to keep the edges from fraying. And then what
02:24we're going to do is we are going to separate each section. And just to make it easy, we're
02:30going to just snip the edges off. We have a bunch of individual pieces of fabric. They
02:35don't have to be perfect squares, nor do they have to be perfect measurements. But we're aiming
02:39for about three and a half to four inches. We're going to just place that little piece
02:43of fabric. And we are going to use our scissors with them closed and just poke it right in.
02:48Make sure you're poking it in enough that it doesn't come out. You could add a little
02:52bit of hot glue. But with this technique that I've been doing for years, it holds in place
02:57just with the force of some scissors. And here is how it's looking so far. And I absolutely
03:02love this fabric for this wreath. And to continue around, we're going to do the same process. We're
03:06going to take a square, place it flat on our styrofoam, take the blunt end of our scissors,
03:13and just poke it in. It doesn't have to be perfect. Your placement doesn't have to be
03:17perfect. We want everything to be rough sizes. You could also place it on the end of your
03:22scissors. And we're also placing a few pieces on the inside just to cover up the styrofoam.
03:26In the end, we shouldn't be able to see any styrofoam. And if there is any gaps, like for instance,
03:31I'm going to place a piece here. But if we didn't have enough, you could just take some of your
03:35fabric
03:35and cover it up. Up next, I have this snowy branch that you can also find from KnicksSeasonalDecor.com.
03:42And I am just going to snip these down individually. And I'll just pull back some of the fabric and
03:48poke our greenery right in. And we're going to just do a very simple bow. I don't want to take
03:54away from the beautiful fabric. So we're just going to do a couple of loops on either side. And then
04:01we'll
04:01finish it off with what I call a button loop, which just covers the wire that we use to secure
04:06it to the wreath. So two loops on either side that are about two and a half inches. We'll
04:11come back in with a final loop right in the middle. Then we have a set of tails that I'll
04:15just place underneath. And I'll secure it with a piece of wire. And there we have a very simple
04:21bow that now we can attach right between all of those berries and greenery. To finish the
04:29ends of your ribbons, you can dovetail or cut at an angle. That's what it looks like cut
04:33at an angle. To dovetail, fold your tail in half, cut from the middle out towards the
04:37wired edge at an angle. And it just creates a little more of a professional finish.
04:42And here is how the wreath looks, you guys. And I absolutely love it. And it was so easy.
04:47Each and every one of you is more than capable of doing this. We used a yard of fabric. Any
04:52fabric will do. A styrofoam wreath, some berries, and some ribbons from KnicksSeasonalDecor.com.
04:57And that is it. You can do this on any scale for any season and any holiday.
05:02Right here, we have one of our candy canes that you can grab from KnicksSeasonalDecor.com. They
05:06come as peppermint sticks, but to create that classic candy cane shape, we're going to just
05:10bend it. Since it's wired, it's easy to manipulate. The next step involves one of the dollar store
05:15scarves. They have them in all colors, and we grabbed the classic Santo version. What we're
05:20going to do, since these have an open middle, we're going to just take that and feed it through
05:24the candy cane, like that. And then what we can begin doing is pulling that all the way
05:29up through the candy cane.
05:31And now we have this adorable green monster hand. And we have tons of green monster products
05:36at KnicksSeasonalDecor.com. And these are fully poseable from the fingers to the arm itself.
05:41And they do have an ornament hanging from it. I'm going to start by bending the stem a little
05:45bit so that it has the curve of the top of the candy cane. And then what I'm going to
05:49do
05:49is I'm just going to take that and feed it through the scarf until the ends somewhat line up like
05:54that. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a zip tie, and I'm going to secure
05:58that zip
05:59tie to the stem of the hand and to the candy cane itself, right about here. Now we have some
06:06ribbon,
06:07and we carry it in all shapes, colors, and sizes. And we're going to create about a four-inch loop,
06:11and some tails that are about six to eight inches. And we're going to do this several times until we
06:17have the desired thickness. And I also pre-cut a length of wire that we're going to use to secure
06:22this bow together. Now we're going to take that wire and secure our bow. We're going to want to
06:26make sure to twist it really tight and secure to prevent this bow from falling apart. And we'll
06:31just flip it over and tie it from behind. Now that we have our bow made, we're going to come
06:36back to
06:37our candy cane. And we're going to take that bow, and right where the fabric meets the hand, we're going
06:43to place that bow so we're not able to differentiate the two. And once you place it there, we can
06:49begin
06:49fluffing out our bow, just separating the loops from the tails. And here is how it turned out,
06:55and I absolutely love it. It was so easy to do. We transformed an inexpensive candy cane with a
07:00dollar store scarf and one of our green monster hands and a little bit of ribbon into something
07:05really, really pretty. So I love the way this looks in my Christmas tree, and it's extremely popular.
07:10We're going to start with this 15 inch styrofoam wreath and an old scarf. So then just take the
07:16scarf, lie it flat on your table, and you can begin wrapping. So this is a different way of wrapping
07:22it,
07:22just simply because the scarf isn't incredibly long. So I'm just going to start by wrapping it
07:26right in the middle. And then I'm going to use some floral pins to keep it in place. By using
07:31floral
07:31pins, you're not really damaging the scarf. So if you want to remove the scarf later on and use it,
07:36if it's really cold outside, you absolutely can. So just take it and continue to wrap
07:40and place a floral pin every so often. We don't want to cover up the frame completely. We want to
07:47leave a little space. That way we can insert our floral stems and our berries, and if we decide any
07:53ribbon. But leaving it open makes it a lot easier to insert rather than going through the scarf. And it
07:58just means, you know, you definitely can save the scarf and use it again if you choose. So once you've
08:04placed all of your pins, you can flip it over. And I did add two pins right towards the front.
08:09And the
08:09reason for that is that when I hang this up, I want these tails, which I don't think are what
08:14the
08:14ends of scarves are called, to hang down below so that you're able to distinguish that it is a scarf.
08:19Now it's time to work in a little bit of this beautiful variegated holly. And look at how stunning
08:23this is. And you can find this at nickseasonaldecor.com. We're just going to poke that right into the
08:29styrofoam. And we have several pieces that we can work in. You can also snip off the stems if
08:34they're too long. And we'll just add a few more pieces. So since our scarf had that busy plaid
08:40print and we worked in variegated holly, which also can be considered busy, we're going to tone
08:45everything down and make it kind of blend through the use of just a solid greenery. So we're going to
08:50break down one of these bushes and see how this just breaks up the busyness of this design.
08:56And our final piece will sit there. So just fluff out your products and adjust them accordingly.
09:04At this point in time, you can use your designer's choice if you would like to work in anything else.
09:09I'm really loving the way this looks with just the berries and the variegated holly
09:13with the scarf. So let's hang this up and show you how it turned out.
09:16So here's how the wreath turned out and I absolutely love it. It was so simple and easy to put
09:21together.
09:21All this really required is a styrofoam wreath, a scarf, and a little bit of greenery. And that is it.
09:27What an easy project that's really cost-effective and not too difficult to put together. So thank
09:32you all so much for watching. This is Nick Kretikos of Nick Seasonal Decor and you're watching me on
