Before Leviathan ruled the sea, the Book of Job described another creature just as terrifying on land: Behemoth.
Bones like bronze. Limbs like iron. A tail that stiffens like a cedar. Even a raging river couldn’t frighten it—and Job was reminded that a creature beyond human control was still nothing compared with its Maker.
Later legends would make Behemoth even greater: ruler of the land, counterpart to Leviathan, and part of an extraordinary feast at the end of the world.
