Every crossroad you've ever stood at, someone was already there, waiting. 🗝️

In Haitian Vodou, he is Papa Legba: an old man with a straw hat, a pipe, a cane, and a dog at his heels. But don't be fooled. He guards the gate between our world and the world of the lwa, and no one speaks to the spirits without his permission.

That's why every Vodou ceremony begins with him. Before any other spirit is called, the drums sound for Legba:
"Papa Legba, ouvri baryè a pou mwen." Open the gate for me.

He's offered strong black coffee, tobacco, and candy. He speaks every language, and every prayer to the spirits passes through him. If he doesn't open the gate, nothing gets through.

Next time you stop at a crossroad at night, listen for the tap of a cane… and ask yourself: did you bring him anything? 👇
