00:08three times a week. For them, this short-stay accommodation, known as Yissa, has been a

00:15Caring. They're looking after. And as you can see, on the back it's all security.
00:24But it's less than a month before the centre closes for good. The Territory Government
00:29rejecting a financial rescue offer from the Federal Government, instead shifting remaining
00:35residents to demountables 100 kilometres away from the city.
00:39I am very sad that the Yissa is closing.

00:45I don't know. I was surprised when I saw them closing this accommodation. Where can we go next?
00:58The Government's promised to find medically vulnerable people accommodation in Darwin,
01:04saying the centre, which has sheltered homeless Territorians and people fleeing violence,
01:09wasn't meant to house the medically vulnerable.
01:12People who are medically vulnerable, who are getting treatment,
01:15have accommodation provided to them close to where they get those services.
01:19What was it intended for if not to keep people safe and put a roof over people's heads? I don't
01:25get that.
01:27The closure is keeping support worker Chloe up at night.
01:30A lot of our dialysis patients have taken the initiative and moved themselves out and gone
01:36to a family where they could. And to be honest, all of the families, it's overcrowded. It's not.
01:42When they're going to these families' houses, the renal patients are staying on the ground.
01:46They're sleeping on the ground. It's not, it's not safe.
01:49While Charlie and Yvonne believe they've found a new place to stay,
01:53they say other residents haven't been so fortunate.
01:56There's a lot of people here and they are still struggling where they want to go.
02:02Because I asked them, where are you going to shift? And I said, I don't know.
02:11This will result probably in some people long-grassing,
02:14which means then they don't have a residence to be picked up from for their renal treatment.
02:18And that can result in them missing renal, which can result in them getting quite unwell or worse,
02:24to be honest. So it's quite, quite terrifying.
02:27Concerns heightened by the approaching wet season.
