00:14As you learned in the last episode, the tourbillon is a device invented to eliminate the error of
00:21rate in the vertical position of the watch. The tourbillon spins around its own axis in 60 seconds.
00:29The energy in a barrel of a conventional hand-wound movement declines continuously.
00:34A constant-force mechanism allows to disconnect the balance from the gear train and the barrel.
00:42In the constant-force tourbillon, ICC engineers combine those two mechanisms to guarantee the precise rate of the watch.
00:51The constant-force tourbillon allows to run into the constant-force mode during at least two days.
00:57The constant-force tourbillon is bigger than many tourbillons you may know from other products.
01:02So it was important during the development to find a material which is light that there remains enough energy to
01:09move the whole device.
01:11So we've chosen titanium, which is 40% lighter than steel.
01:15The constant-force tourbillon consists of more than 100 separate parts.
01:20It takes two weeks to assemble and adjust the whole tourbillon and some parts are produced within only one micron
01:27-meter tolerance.
01:29The patented constant-force mechanism is the beating heart of the watch.
01:32You can hear a unique sound of this tourbillon because there are two escapements working at the same time.
01:39Only the completely new developed calibre family 94000 is powerful enough to move this constant-force tourbillon.
01:47And this is also the reason why we've got this complication only into the engineer, constant-force tourbillon and the
01:56Portuguese sideral scaphousia.
