00:00Hi guys, today I'm going to be showing you how to create custom protocols using
00:05the app for the Neuronic Light Helmet and it is really really easy to do. So
00:11anyone that knows me knows I do love red and infrared light therapy. Like I use it
00:16on my skin, I use it on my joints and I've also written about it in major
00:20publications. So to get my hands on a light helmet was very very exciting. So
00:26I've gone through, so my journey with this helmet has gone through three stages
00:30basically and the first stage when I literally just got it was using it in the
00:36most simple way possible and that is just with the on off button. So it's so easy
00:42you just put press it on and I was just happy to use just have the light just
00:48geeking out with my awesome new wellness tech. So I was happy with that for a
00:53while for quite a while but I did know it came with an app and so after you know
01:00using it for a little while I just thought okay well what else how else can
01:05maybe this helmet support my health and wellness goals and one of my health and
01:09wellness goals was sort of trying to have a little bit more of a calmer state
01:14of mind before going to bed to try and support sleep health. So I knew that the
01:20app did come with preset programs and one of them was Peace. So I thought okay I'm
01:25gonna bite the bullet which I did. So that represents stage two of my journey
01:30with this helmet. So I downloaded the app and it look it was it's really easy you
01:35just go to the app store and you just literally download it onto your phone you
01:39just press download and it'll pop up on your phone. So to use it with the app is
01:45really easy as well because I was I was a little bit nervous about using the app
01:51just because I might be a bit too sort of complicated and it just seemed a
01:54little bit too much at the time but using it has turned out to be really really
01:59simple. So you just have the helmet on and once that's on that's fine and then
02:03you just tap on the app here on your phone and it'll immediately the app will
02:08immediately just jump on and connect itself to the helmet that's sitting next to
02:13it. So then you go down to the bottom of the screen here and you tap on programs
02:19and there you will see the preset programs that come with the helmet
02:23including the one I was interested interested in which is Peace. So Peace is
02:28there you can see at the top then we've got Focus, Balance and Glow. And so then I
02:33did I started using the Peace program and that's really easy you just tap on the
02:37program and the helmet will run through that for you. But then next to the
02:43preset was another button saying custom. So when you press on this button here it
02:49says to you add your preferred time pulse rate and intensity suitable for
02:55experienced users. So that sort of then as time went on jogged me to find out a
03:04little bit more about maybe how the helmet could or my wellness device could try and
03:10help support you know my health and wellness goals. And before I go any further I
03:15will really say that it is a wellness device. It's not to be used or it's not
03:20designed to diagnose or treat any medical conditions. If you've got any health
03:25concerns any medical concerns obviously do go and see your health
03:29professional. I am really using this as just a really good adjunct to support to
03:35support those goals my wellness goals. So then but why would you put in custom
03:40programs and and you know why do they then even have these preset programs? I was
03:46really curious so I jumped online and had a little bit of a look at the research or
03:51the science behind all this stuff and it the main reason and these are the notes
03:58that I've gotten from the research the main reason to create custom settings is to
04:02take advantage of something called brainwave entrainment and this is
04:06something really interesting for me to learn that apparently our brainwaves can
04:10naturally sync up to things like a steady musical beat or the neural networks can
04:17also respond and attempt to synchronize to specific pulsing light
04:23frequencies. So I found that really really interesting and I'm in a nutshell
04:29brainwaves are simply the measurable electrical impulses created when those
04:34neurons are communicating with each other and scientists have categorized them
04:38into different bands. So for instance we've got what's called delta and that's
04:44between one to four Hertz so that's cycles per second and that's because it's
04:51measured in Hertz delta one to four Hertz cycles per second apparently that's
04:55related to deep dreamless sleep and then at the other end of the spectrum we've got
05:00gamma which is often around 40 Hertz and that's associated with peak cognitive
05:05performance. So how this sort of tech works is through what's called a
05:12frequency following response. So what what you're doing basically is say that the
05:19gamma when you pulse near infrared light at a specific rate say the 40 pulses per
05:25second or the 40 Hertz you're encouraging your brainwave to sort of mimic that
05:31through the frequency following response so to try and match your
05:36brain's electrical rhythm to that gamma brainwaves basically. So it's not an
05:41override it's not a magic bullet it's nothing like that it's just like a nudge
05:46it's just like having calm music in the background if you're going for the lower
05:51Hertz for that relaxation state or the peace state which I was using. It's just
05:55something else that you can use in your environment to try and encourage either
06:01whatever you're sort of wanting for your lifestyle like either if you're wanting
06:04that calming down which I was after using the peace protocol or if you're looking
06:09for more sort of mental alertness and stuff you would then use the focus
06:14protocol the preset focus protocol. So I found that all really you know really
06:20interesting so then I looked up okay well if I'm going to put in a custom
06:24program what would I what sort of goals do I want or how do I want this to try and
06:30support my wellness and sleep was the one for me. So I put in sleep how can I use
06:36something like this to try and support sleep health and I came up with from the
06:41research a protocol that we're actually going to be putting in to the app right
06:45now. So it's in two stages basically it's stage one and stage two and so that's
06:51going to be my new custom protocol and I'm going to show you how to put it in to
06:56the app. So what we do is we go down to the bottom here of the screen and it's got
07:02add so we're going to click on add and you can name your custom protocols
07:07anything you want. So I'm going to name stage one of my custom protocol relaxation
07:13and transition so we'll add the description here so relaxation and transition and we'll confirm that
07:29and this is going to be 75 minutes before bed and the time we're going to do is
07:34we're only going to do three minutes because from the research I did look up
07:38you don't want to overdo it in the evening you don't want to overstimulate
07:41your brain cells or cells with that light. So just three minutes and frequency
07:48we're going to go for six hertz so I'm going to put in pulse six hertz and we're
07:54going to have 50% intensity because again we don't want to overstimulate the
07:59cells too much. So this is I'm going to confirm and save those changes so that's our first custom
08:06protocol and having it in the six hertz is the purpose of that is we're targeting the
08:13theta brainwave band which is between four to eight hertz and the theta brainwave band
08:19is associated with light meditation deep relaxation and the transition out of active waking focus
08:26which is the beta band or the beta waves. So like I said this isn't a magic bullet or anything
08:31it's just a nudge where by using this or giving giving our neural network that outside stimuli
08:37we're trying to nudge it to sort of mimic that through what's called the frequency following response.
08:44So there's our first custom program so what we're going to do now is we're going to go back and
08:49pop in
08:49our second one so we go down to add again and we're going to put in our description again so
08:57this one's
08:57going to be deep sleep preparation I'm going to call it you can call your programs anything you want
09:05and if you jump online and do a little bit of research as to how you might want to use
09:10it to support
09:11your own wellness goals you really can find out some you know interesting information so we're going to
09:16confirm that and for my stage two we're going to again have a fairly short just three minutes
09:24three minutes and we're going to pulse it at three hertz this time and that's going right down to the
09:30delta band which is then for the deep dreamless sleep band and we're going to lower the intensity
09:37I'm only going to have it at 30 percent there we go and we're going to confirm that and we're
09:43going to
09:43save for changes and this is going to be 30 minutes before bed so there you go we've got our
09:49two
09:49custom protocols and it's so easy to put that into the app so what so I'll show you where they
09:56go now
09:57so we're going to go back so when we go to all programs now our two custom programs that we
10:03added
10:03should be at the bottom here so here they are um first custom program relaxation and transition
10:08second deep sleep preparation and then you can still go into the preset ones and that's the four
10:15that it comes with so they're they're sort of locked into the app so they'll I don't know if you
10:20can get
10:21rid of them from the app there I think they're probably locked into that and then you can just go
10:25to the custom one if that's all you want to see just the ones that you've put in for yourself
10:29and you
10:30can see that the custom ones have popped up there and then to actually use it it's also again so
10:36easy
10:37so you just pop the helmet on and for me because I'm trying to be um be sort of disciplined
10:46about
10:46too much screen time at night I would then um just start my program so if we're going to do
10:53the stage one
10:54so the relaxation and transition we just tap on that I'm going to tap on that to begin it
11:01and you'll hear it in a second
11:05and then I'm going to pop my screen away because I'm trying to limit screen time at night
11:11and you could even put on some nice relaxation relaxing music and then just close your eyes
11:17and enjoy a little bit of downtime and tears up
11:21the sun is falling speed in the black nobody driving we're in the back
