USV Revolutionizes Littoral EOD: See the Future of Mine Neutralization in Action!

The Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) underwent a Field User Evaluation (FUE) which allowed Marines to receive hands-on practical application and testing.   During the event, fleet users learned how to utilize waypoint navigation, deploy targets, verify locations, and finally put the system to the test on the water. Most importantly, the testing afforded Marines the opportunity to give feedback on the system to the program office during the development phase to ensure relevance and human-system interface in a near-operational environment. 00:00The USV is the unmanned surface vessel and the goal of this system is to integrate into a

00:06family of systems for littoral explosive ordinance neutralization. Specifically the USV is intended

00:12to do wide area search missions in calm waters and also serve as a communications relay for the

00:20family of systems. Unmanned systems have always been a part of the EOD family of systems but now

00:27we're expanding that into maritime systems that allow more endurance and less risk for operators.

00:34It also increases that operator or my sections ability to maintain maritime domain awareness

00:40with a smaller team. The events were very successful. Everyone was communicating well.

00:47The platform itself had long endurance and gave us good results in order to refine and further

00:56develop the capability. I'm very proud to be a part of this program and to be a marine

01:01that is on the leading edge of innovation here.
