00:00It's a big day.
00:00Good morning, yeah.
00:01Big day in Hong Kong.
00:03What are your expectations?
00:04Yeah, I'm very excited about this first five-year plan.
00:07So what we expected, especially for the green initiatives, that should combine with technologies
00:14and some kind of target on, especially for some logistics and, for instance, aviation
00:23fields, roadmaps, and the use of green technologies combined with the green set of manufacturing.
00:34What is the, I mean, you're close to what's happening with the sustainability initiatives
00:39here.
00:39What is the strategy of Hong Kong?
00:42What's the backdrop?
00:44What are specifics we could get today?
00:45And how does this fit into the mainland strategy?
00:48Hong Kong is one of the largest Asian logistic hubs, especially on the aviation and marine,
00:57right?
00:57Right.
00:58That is providing a huge market for a company or incubator like us that we can provide good
01:07solutions for decarbonization for logistics.
01:11However, what we need is the connections and support from the GBA areas for the manufacturers.
01:18Right.
01:19So what Hong Kong, what we believe should leverage on the manufacturing and supply chain abilities
01:25in GBA areas.
01:27So as a super connectors and connecting with investors like us, manufacturers and technology
01:35holders startups, together with the supply chain in mainland China, especially nearby GBA
01:41area, then connected with Hong Kong capitals and markets.
01:47So that's the, as a super connectors role.
01:50Yeah.
01:51I think anyone who's been to Hong Kong just needs, needs to spend just a little bit of time on
01:56the harbor to notice you have, of course, these massive cargo ships, you know, there's an
02:00airplane that takes off every few minutes to your point, right?
02:02But it's a logistics hub.
02:04What is your understanding of how much traditional fuel we use here as far as aviation and logistics?
02:13Obviously, we want all of that to be sustainable.
02:16What's the roadmap between getting us from current levels to ideal levels?
02:21Yeah.
02:21Today, we're in aviation, for instance, that we spend roughly around five, six million tons
02:29per year for traditional aviation fields, which based on fossils, right?
02:34So if you look at Europe as a reference or Singapore as a reference, right, they start
02:39their mandate a couple of years ago, right?
02:42So these two years, they start with normally 1%, to 2015, they have 70% of target, right?
02:49So I assume the roadmap for, that's a good reference for any countries to follow, right?
02:55Later, I want to see Singapore doing that, right?
02:58I think Singapore, Hong Kong can use that as a reference to start with, right?
03:03So this is some kind of a good kickoff point, right?
03:08And is it something that in today's exercise of the five-year plan, you think we could expect
03:13some guidelines or some version of a mandate that could encourage users to shift?
03:19He actually announced it, kind of indicators in his previous policy address.
03:27Right.
03:27So what our expectation, judging from that, you know, there should be some follow on.
03:33Some alignment from the Hong Kong side?
03:34We hope so, right?
03:36Some alignment or details on that.
03:39Let's see.
03:40You know, we have a couple of hours to go.
03:41Right.
03:41Now, putting on your investment hat, you know, VC and family office, so we look at Hong Kong,
03:47we're known for professional services, financial, legal, consulting.
03:52What other strategic industries that you think make sense from a sort of big picture perspective?
03:57Well, we focus on climate tax and, you know, today we're not looking only at decarbonization,
04:06but also climate resilience.
04:09We're still Harbour City, so we're nearby the sea.
04:12Right.
04:13We are hitting by typhoons.
04:14So that's an essential industry or defense related, you know, climate defense related technologies
04:23that we should focus, right?
04:25So how to control on, you know, to react on the climate resilience.
04:31And on the same time, together with decarbonization technology, for instance, aviation technologies
04:38or marine field, biofield replacement, et cetera.
04:43And those provide a very good market here as a sandbox.
04:48And we have very good universities with talents that are focusing on material science.
04:56We have enough capitals, right?
04:59So as my experience, we raised more than $3 billion here locally in the past 36 months.
05:06So I think the capital is ready.
05:09The talents is ready.
05:10The markets are here.
05:11And that will be focused.
05:13And always, climate and new energy is something still under invest compared to AI and robotics.
05:22Well, help us understand how much returns should we expect from something like this?
05:28Because I would imagine this is one of the hurdles that people have to get over.
05:31Yeah.
05:32Why does it pertain?
05:32Because it's visible from the AI perspective what the types of returns we get there.
05:37But in your world, what is, give me some numbers.
05:40Yeah.
05:41I think it's expecting quite an attractive return compared to, think about it, right?
05:51In futures, what power up the data centers, right?
05:54In the past 5, 10 years, the trope points about the chipset, right?
05:58Today, it reliant on energies.
06:01Energy will be the next tokens, right?
06:04It becomes AI tokens.
06:06And if you look at the growth and opportunities, I think the opportunity is enormous.
06:12So you expect and get along together, alongside together with AI and robotics development,
06:17I think energies and exposure for new energies.
06:20We're talking about energy resilience independence.
06:24And those kind of energies will provide a really nice return for investors.
06:29Alan, thank you for spending time with your morning.
06:31Part of your morning with us.
06:32Of course, we'll wait when they announce it in.
06:34We'll see, of course, if we get some guidelines coming through there on energy.
06:37I'll be happy with you in the final DP.
06:37I am very happy, after my landing page.
06:37It wouldn't make a special place in a red flag from everything I was going through.
