00:10an audience at the All In podcast event on loudspeaker that concerns about AI risks were
00:16a hoax. And they're just playing right into the hands of a lot of people that don't want to see
00:22it happen. And that could be political people. It could also be China. And we're not going to let
00:27that happen. It's a hoax. So why is the president weighing in now? Well, if you haven't already
00:33noticed, there have been a string of warnings from researchers, but also the frontier AI labs
00:38themselves, think anthropic, think open AI. Elon Musk apparently agreeing about warnings that AI could
00:45prove an existential risk to humanity. Even in just the last 24 hours, a former researcher at Google
00:52DeepMind, saying that he earnestly believed that AI had the potential to kill us. President Trump,
00:58though, says this is nonsense. He also says the US has to win on AI. If it doesn't, China will.
01:05Interestingly, China appears to agree. They have criticized the fear mongering coming from some
01:10of the AI labs. Investors are turning a little bit cautious. Semiconductor stocks have sold off.
01:17There is concern from some that any slowdown in the pace of innovation around AI could lead to
01:24reduced spending on AI infrastructure, the hardware, including those AI chips.
