00:14than six hours have all risen by 50p to £6, £7.50 and £9.50 respectively. Visitors can have 20
00:23minutes free of charge for drop-offs and pick-ups and there is no increase in the cost of parking
00:28for members of staff. The Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust says it will also continue
00:34to offer free parking for some people in line with national guidance, including for blue badge
00:39holders, people who attend outpatient clinics regularly to manage long-term conditions and
00:45parents of children staying in hospital overnight. The Trust says all the income received from car
00:50parking is reinvested into hospital services. Meanwhile, this summer, the Trust marked the
00:56start of the construction phase of a new building which will double the size of Calderdale Royal.
01:02There will eventually be a new emergency department with a dedicated children's emergency department
01:07and eight new wards. The work is due for completion in 2029. Calderdale Council planners have also
01:14approved a new underground service corridor linking an existing part of the hospital with the new
01:19clinical building. The new multi-storey car park has reached several major milestones in recent weeks as
01:25work continues towards its opening in early autumn.
