00:07I don't think he ever wanted to leave.
00:09I just, you know, ownership there just didn't want him.
00:13But I still think, is he still searching for his 300th career home run?
00:17Boy, that would be a heck of a story tonight, too, Craig,
00:19if he's able to actually pull that out.
00:22But, boy, oh, boy, I can't.
00:25Would you be happier to be an Oriole,
00:27or would you still want to be a New York Met this year?
00:30At this point.
00:31It's just disappointing that this had to happen like this.
00:33And I really, in the end, it's kind of hard.
00:36It's kind of hard to understand.
00:37Like, I go back to the beginning of the season, as we've talked about.
00:42And in a way, look, David Stearns,
00:44who is the president and GM of the Mets,
00:46is going to be, he's, you know, under no pressure this year.
00:50But next year, Joe,
00:51will be under a tremendous amount of pressure to win
00:53because the Mets can't have back-to-back 88, 90 lost seasons.
00:57But what I would say is, as we've discussed,
01:01I can't blame the Mets for doing what they did in a way.
01:06Because, Joe, what did they win with Pete Alonso?
01:11What did they win with?
01:12They won nothing with all those guys.
01:14So I understood the notion of shaking it up and changing things up.
01:19But the method to the madness just didn't make sense at all
01:23from a starting pitching perspective.
01:25I want to give credit to Bo Bichette
01:27because his numbers at the end of the season
01:29are going to actually be pretty good.
01:30Like, Bichette really came on
01:32after the first two rough months of the season.
01:34But the Polanco signing was bad.
01:36The Simeon trade was bad.
01:38And now they're going to have to recreate or reinvent
01:41how they're going to do things next year.
01:43And I do think the Mets, Joe,
01:45will be in a fine position offensively.
01:49They have Benj.
01:50They have Ewing.
01:51They have Lindor.
01:52They have Soto.
01:53They've got a nice core going offensively.
01:55But, Joe, they got no pitching, man.
01:57So this isn't like they could just go to war
01:59in the National League East next season
02:01with the guys that they have starting,
02:03with Sean Minaya and my buddy Robert Stock.
02:06You know, like, they're not going to be able
02:08to do that next year.
02:09So they're probably going to have to go out
02:11and spend a lot more money again
02:12on a starting pitching.
02:13But good luck with that, Joe,
02:14because if you don't get Scoobal,
02:15there ain't anybody on the free agent market
02:17that I see out there.
02:19Yeah, well, it was good to see.
02:21I mean, it was a little emotional for him last night, too.
02:24But it'd be great.
02:25And, you know, he wants to stick it right
02:26to his former team.
02:27I think that is going to be fantastic there.
