00:48:58The debate we always get, should you be able to pit during a safety car or a virtual safety car?
00:49:04Well, they're all saying you can.
00:49:06And sadly for Lando Norris, he was five seconds the wrong side of the timing on this one.
00:49:11What goes around comes around on that sort of thing.
00:49:14I don't really like it when they sort of block the pit lane in other categories.
00:49:22It felt a bit clunky going through that chicane.
00:49:25I'm sure the drivers can really feel it, but it is the quickest way to try and do it.
00:49:31Norris is...
00:49:32The one thing I love about these new regulations, Norris has held on to the back of this Red Bull
00:49:37for so many laps now.
00:49:38This time last year, we would not have seen this at all.
00:49:42I mean, they've been going into this now an hour and a half.
00:49:45The accuracy required, the commitment through a lot of these high-speed corners that just flow one into the other
00:49:51is tremendous.
00:49:53I mean, tremendous talent, the skill we're watching here on board, Norris hunting down still, Max Verstappen.
00:50:01But as I said earlier on, if you have to keep sweeping across the track, left, right, left, right, left,
00:50:07right, it takes away the overtaking opportunities.
00:50:10And Antonelli's brushed the wall, he says, but he's still got four wheels pointing roughly in the same direction.
00:50:17Yeah, just looking at the camera, it looks pretty A-OK.
00:50:21And Mercedes saying, no, we can't see anything wrong, so don't worry too much.
00:50:28And in terms of a gap out in front, he's actually increased his lead on lap 52 of this race,
00:50:35five laps to go.
00:50:36This is the big battle in the podium places.
00:50:39Verstappen and Norris.
00:50:41They're coming up to Ocon.
00:50:43It's really now, Norris' only chance is in the traffic.
00:50:47If Max gets slightly wrong-footed somewhere.
00:50:51He's using extra boost, isn't he, Lando Norris here, to try and get close enough into turn five.
00:50:57Couldn't quite do it on that occasion.
00:50:59Probably needs to be about 0.3 of a second behind coming out of turn two to use his boost,
00:51:07or use the overtake to try and get on terms.
00:51:10Ocon has had two blue flag warnings, so he can't go past the third one.
00:51:14And that's why he's got out of the way.
00:51:16Did nicely and let them both through.
00:51:19Having used a bit more energy deployment in the opening stages of this lap, you get to have to put
00:51:27up with the penalty for it.
00:51:29Not that this is a hard lap to top up the batters.
00:51:32It isn't plenty of corners, plenty of braking zones.
00:51:35The batters cope just fine around here.
00:51:37And Norris now finding himself almost a second down on Verstappen.
00:51:42If it goes over a second by the end of the lap, he won't get the chance to use that
00:51:47overtake boost.
00:51:48On the next lap, Bortoletto, next to be shown a black and white flag, four track limits.
00:51:54George Russell now, by the way, one and a half seconds, 1.3 seconds behind Charles Leclerc.
00:52:01Soft tie, not doing what Ferrari thought it would do.
00:52:05And that's giving Leclerc a good margin.

00:53:34The drivers will be feeling the fatigue, both mentally and physically, in an air temperature of 31 degrees,
00:53:42a cockpit temperature of well over 55 degrees, and a track temperature that's still roasting as well at about 54

00:53:48This is where the hard yards done in the gym really pay off.
00:53:52Pierre Gasly then will presumably stop going into the last lap and put his tyres on.
00:53:58And that will allow, should allow, Nico Hülkenberg to come in and claim another point for Audi.

00:54:10In stands like this, Lando Norris will move five points behind Lewis Hamilton,
00:54:14who's third in the championship, Hamilton retiring with brake issues after about seven laps in this race.

00:55:02but he's just got a relentless pace to make sure he's there to get the open goal.
