07:026 chicane, top of the hill
07:03at turn 7, 8, 9 and then of course
07:06the brilliant
07:08high speed banked corner
07:09Le Monumentel of turn 12 but let's get into
07:12the lap with Lando heading towards
07:14turn 1
07:15down this pretty short main straight
07:17then you come into turn 1 and you've really got to
07:19get this curve right there
07:21exactly what he does to line himself up
07:23beautifully for turn 2
07:25and propels himself out the corner
07:27nicely onto this
07:29straight mode zone towards
07:31turn 5, we're just going to stop him
07:33here because we're going to line him up
07:35alongside that of
07:37Kimi Antonelli, so we've lined them up
07:39so they're even now
07:41towards this corner and I'll just play it on
07:43so what you want to say, I'll slow it down for you
07:45so what we're looking at is the rough ride that Kimi
07:47Antonelli takes through the chicane
07:49let's keep an eye on him, his head bangs around
07:51in the cockpit on that head protection
07:53I'll just rewind it there just to show
07:55you the difference in lines
07:57and it's subtle but on Lando's side
07:59I'll just go full frame for you
08:01he's got his right wheel
08:03just on this white line
08:05so the wheel itself, the tyre
08:07doesn't hit the curb
08:08whereas Antonelli's does
08:10and that's what, it's close
08:13but that's what launches
08:14the Mercedes into the air
08:16more than that of the McLaren
08:18it's a much smoother ride for Lando
08:19and he gets out of that corner quicker
08:21and at the next reference point
08:23where it stops
08:24look at the time gain for Lando
08:26and remember, we're only talking
08:27100% of a second for the whole lap
08:29so every little bit of lap time counts here
08:32and margin gain through the lap
08:34so we go back on board with Lando
08:36towards that blind summit
08:38into turn 7
08:39the highest point on the track
08:40and he gets this bit
08:41absolutely nailed on beautifully
08:43on the exit of turn 8
08:44into the high speed chicane
08:46la chicane they call it
08:47before you come into turn 12
08:51and I just paused talking there
08:53because I just love hearing
08:54how the drivers manage the throttle
08:55not at all for Lando
08:57it sounded like he was completely flat
08:58before turn 13 comes up
09:00he's so close to the wall
09:01on the apex
09:02and then you're through
09:03the flat right of turn 14
09:06and I'm just going to slow it down for you
09:07because this part here
09:08demands incredible accuracy
09:11look how close he's got
09:13his wheel to the wall
09:14in this sort of kinked braking zone
09:17of 16
09:18and that lines him up nicely
09:20into 17
09:21just clipping the kerb
09:22as you have to
09:23and then on the exit
09:24again super close
09:26one of the closest we saw actually
09:28to hitting that wall on the exit
09:30this is fine margins
09:32high precision stuff
09:34from the current world champion
09:35and he was gaining time
09:37on Antonelli
09:38the whole way through
09:39these series of corners as well
09:41through 19
09:41you've got to have the bravery
09:43you've got to have the commitment
09:44into turn 20
09:45now a bit of discipline
09:46slow it all down
09:47and be aware of where you're placing the car
09:50amongst the walls as well
09:51in that final sector
09:53we're going to stop him here
09:54and line him up
09:55alongside Antonelli once more
09:56we've leveled them up at the shadow
09:58and play it on
09:59to the final corner
10:00slow it down for you
10:01because look at the mistake from Lando
10:03just misses out
10:04and he's desperately trying to keep the car
10:06within the barrier
10:07it was a mistake
10:07and Antonelli gets to the line
10:10way before him
10:11after we've leveled them up
10:12so without this mistake from Lando
10:14he would have been another two
10:16or possibly three tenths down the road
10:18so it came down to that
10:20he was really happy with his lap
10:22it kind of came from nowhere
10:23nobody was expecting this
10:24from the McLaren driver
10:25and we can hear from his radio now
10:28sorry
10:30hang on
10:31just wait a second
10:32two cars to go
10:33wait a second
10:35one car to go
10:37stay with you
10:39it wasn't your best final corner
10:41but it still pulls
10:44yes
10:46oh what a laugh
10:51oh that might be my best one
10:56from frustration
10:57to elation in the space
10:58about five seconds there
11:00there we go
11:00Lando Norris yesterday
11:02good poll for him
11:03here he is today
11:04no it's crazy
11:05the fans are
11:06the fans are amazing
11:08I don't know what you said
11:09so I'm just going to say
11:10I'm excited for the race
11:11of course
11:11yesterday was an amazing day
11:14nice to get the race day underway
11:16and see so many fans here
11:18so I'm excited
11:19you called it one of your best laps
11:22of your career
11:22how did it feel
11:25like that
11:26like yeah genuinely
11:27one of my best laps
11:29no good day
11:30good day for us
11:31a little bit unexpected
11:32which is always a nice thing
11:33the first poll here in Madrid
11:35so hopefully today
11:36we can throw it up
11:37with a win
11:38and we say something in Spanish
11:40for everyone
11:42thank you
11:44very much
11:47a natural
11:48it could have been a bigger gap
11:50but for that last last corner
11:51yeah but I think he threw caution
11:53to the wind
11:54and just went for it
11:55didn't he
11:55and I think he was scolding himself
11:57he knew it was a mega lap
11:58and he thought he'd blown it
12:00in the very last corner
12:01literally about 200 meters up there
12:03and so obviously Will Joseph
12:05who's super experienced
12:06like hang on hang on
12:07hold on hold on
12:08I think we'll be all right
12:10do you know what the big luck was Martin
12:11that the start finish straight
12:13is so close to the exit
12:15at the last corner
12:16so he you know
12:17he lost a bit in the corner
12:18but he didn't lose much
12:19on the straight afterwards anymore
12:20because there was a line right there
12:22so that was his good fortune
12:23so I think it was so funny
12:25how comes on the radio
12:26that was so bad
12:27so bad
12:28and then you got pole position
12:30that was the greatest lap of my life
12:32sounds kind of amazing
12:33very good at correcting himself there
12:35yeah I think you know
12:36that shows the driver's mindset
12:38I think when you know
12:39when you're in the car
12:40and I can imagine the frustration
12:41that you feel
12:42because that was his chance
12:43to you know really get good position here
12:45and yeah that's you know
12:47driver's psychology
12:48in there somewhere isn't there
12:49yes Nico
12:49just well talking of psychology
12:51he is now a world champion
12:53he's carried that into this year
12:54now if you look at the early part of the season
12:56when he didn't have the car underneath him
12:58they've developed well again
13:00and he now seems to have that
13:02yes Monza an outlier
13:03but where is he at
13:04and how much has he shed
13:05as a result of being a world champion
13:06not only the car was kind of missing
13:08in the beginning of the season
13:09but I think they also needed time
13:11to get used to the power unit
13:12and that's a disadvantage
13:13when you're a customer
13:14to the power unit
13:17it takes more time
13:18you know to get your
13:18get the hang of it
13:19but now Lando
13:21he's world champion
13:22that gives more confidence
13:23he's not the favorite
13:24to the championship
13:25this year either
13:26that makes you more relaxed
13:27because you're not the hunted
13:29but you're the hunter
13:30so he's really in the sweet spot
13:32at the moment
13:32and he's driving as well as ever
13:34it's unbelievable to watch
13:36the level that he's at
13:37out there at the moment
13:38and the way that he's adapted
13:39there are some
13:40there are some drivers out there
13:41you'd say
13:42in the driver pairings
13:43that have adapted
13:44better than others
13:45Oscar for example
13:46is struggling
13:47with these cars
13:48you'd have to say
13:49Oscar, George
13:50to Russell
13:51to a certain extent
13:53Charles Leclerc
13:53compared to the ground effect cars
13:55of the previous four seasons
13:57so yeah
13:59but whatever
14:00I think there's confidence
14:01and when you talk to Lando
14:03he is more accomplished
14:04he's constantly smiling
14:05and I think he's got that
14:07in his locker now
14:09that he's already got
14:11the world championship
14:12and you just see him able
14:14to let his natural talents
14:16and juices sort of flow
14:17why is that
14:18Bernie give us
14:19the engineering perspective here
14:20I mean these cars
14:21are very very different
14:22to drive from last year
14:24so why are some
14:25struggling more than others
14:26would you say
14:26yeah I think there's
14:27all the drivers
14:28have a different style
14:29and that's what we talk about
14:30a lot when we talk about
14:31let's say Red Bull
14:32suit and Max Verstappen
14:33we've talked about that
14:34year in year out
14:35and I think that
14:36there's not as much
14:37downforce in these cars
14:38so you need to sort of
14:39be a bit more aggressive
14:40with it
14:41that doesn't suit
14:41the sort of
14:42let's say traditional
14:43what we call smoother drivers
14:44so much
14:46George Russell being
14:46one example
14:47Piastri say another
14:49Leclerc
14:49all the ones that Martin listed
14:51and I think there's
14:52a really good feature
14:52actually early on
14:53in the weekend
14:54where George Russell
14:55explains it really clearly
14:56really nicely
14:57how his style
14:59he's had to rethink
15:00his driving
15:01for these cars
15:02but we also have to say
15:03in the history of F1
15:05the very best drivers
15:06adapt to anything
15:07you know
15:08and that's important
15:09it's a skill you need
15:10because things are always
15:11going to be changing
15:12so that
15:13we need to mention that as well
15:14yeah because you do that
15:15naturally anyway
15:16don't you
15:16on a wet day
15:17or a changeable day
15:18or whatever
15:19you're always having to
15:20adapt what you're doing
15:22out there
15:23okay right
15:23as we mentioned
15:24it is a new venue
15:25we're just outside
15:26of Madrid
15:27I'm going to take you
15:28inside
15:28well why not
15:29Craig's going to take you
15:30inside Madrid
15:31I'm going to talk you
15:32around this famous city
15:50when they begin
16:07Dear Petra
16:08Madrid
16:09what a place
16:10for a Grand Prix
16:11so many sights
16:13and I'm really getting
16:14my steps in
16:15I found out Madrid
16:17means place
16:18of abundant waters
16:19and you can really see why
16:21but while it's been hot
16:24although I had
16:25an ice cream
16:26from a nice young chap
16:27whose face
16:28looked oddly familiar
16:36there's lots of familiar
16:37football faces here too
16:38and guess what
16:39Jose Mourinho
16:41let me
16:42play on Real Madrid's
16:43training pitch
16:44I'm not sure
16:45he'll be signing me
16:46though
16:47anyway
16:48racing's the focus
16:49and it's been
16:50a race against time
16:51to get the facilities
16:52ready
16:53but
16:53everything's worked
16:54and it's been
16:55a fiesta
16:56in the sunshine
16:57for all the fans
16:58lots of music
16:59lots of dancing
17:01you'd love it here
17:02it's amazing
17:03we've been waiting
17:03for the F1
17:04to be in Spain
17:05all my life
17:06I think this is
17:07an amazing event
17:08we're coming from Mexico
17:09to support Checo
17:10of course
17:11I love it
17:11Madrid's great
17:12it's great CD for tourists
17:14great CD for F1
17:15the food's been awesome too
17:17although the ham guy
17:18that served me
17:19needed to cut a bit quicker
17:22the track's actually built
17:23on a convention centre
17:25which makes it
17:26a bit unconventional
17:27for example
17:28a lot of the engineering trucks
17:30are in air-conditioned hangers
17:31and it's a massive sight
17:33all the drivers
17:34are taking scooters
17:36and buggies
17:36oh
17:37while they remember
17:38it's the madring
17:39not the madring
17:41although
17:41a few of the drivers
17:42have been getting
17:43pretty mad
17:44with the traffic
17:45like I don't know
17:46what they're doing
17:46they're just stupid
17:47also
17:48there are 24 corners
17:49really
17:50not 22
17:51because there's a couple
17:51of B corners
17:53anyway
17:54I bet you've already
17:55heard about
17:55Monumental
17:56Jeepers
17:57150 metres
17:59of cornering
18:00with banking
18:01and 45,000 fans
18:03on the edge
18:04of those seats
18:07all we really need
18:08now
18:08is a great race
18:09so let's hope the drivers
18:11will be licking that stamp
18:13and sending it
18:14wish you were here Petra
18:16adios amigo
18:22I do hope that postcard
18:23got to Petra Elhead
18:25well done Craig

18:38not because it's my home city
18:39but because I hope
18:40that we can put on

21:24a promenade
21:24around Formula 1's
21:25newest location
21:27and somewhere
21:27you must feel
21:28quite proud
21:29super proud
21:30not because
21:30it's my home city
21:31but because
21:32I actually feel
21:33it's one of the best
21:33cities to live in
21:35and I hope
21:36that we can put
21:36on a good
21:38showing
21:39a good event
21:39for you guys
21:40to enjoy here
21:41so the pronunciation
21:42is Madring
21:44Madring
21:44Madring
21:45we've seen
21:46over the years
21:46a lot of circuits
21:47arrive to Formula 1
21:48that they don't
21:48create any
21:50nothing new
21:50I would say
21:51the latest ones
21:52Jeddah and Baku
21:53they've brought
21:53a bit of excitement
21:54to the calendar
21:55and I think
21:56Madring will
21:57do that
21:58but in the 1990s
21:59the main
22:00four Spanish
22:01sporting superstars
22:02were
22:03Miguel Indurain
22:05Severiano Ballesteros
22:06Arantxa Sanchez
22:08Vacario
22:08in cycling
22:10golf and tennis
22:11respectively
22:11and
22:12Carlos Sainz Sr
22:13well it was
22:14quite a
22:15relatively quiet
22:17experience for me
22:18because
22:18most of my time
22:20I would spend it
22:20with my mom
22:21going to school
22:22a normal life
22:23until I turned
22:2410 years old
22:24my dad retired
22:26from rallying
22:26and they did
22:27to him in the
22:28center of Madrid
22:28like a reconnaissance
22:30for his career
22:31and I suddenly
22:32realized that
22:33the whole city
22:34of Madrid
22:34stopped
22:34just to say
22:35goodbye to my dad
22:36and there I was
22:37like standing there
22:38like what the hell
22:39is happening
22:40like who is my dad
22:41my dad is a
22:42hero
22:42and at that stage
22:43that's exactly
22:44the year I started
22:45raising myself
22:46I've kept the legacy
22:48of this family
22:49side going
22:49and most importantly
22:51the way that my dad
22:52always carried
22:54the Spanish flag
22:54and many people
22:55value in Spain
22:56I want to talk
22:57about the car
22:58okay
22:58I think we share
23:00your keen
23:01disappointment
23:02about the way
23:03things have gone
23:04with the car
23:05this year
23:05have you put your
23:06finger on exactly
23:07why
23:07there's multiple
23:08whys
23:08and having to
23:11specify ourselves
23:12also how all
23:13these things
23:13that have happened
23:14this year
23:14how we ended up
23:16in this situation
23:16has been a very
23:17big challenge
23:18and it's taken
23:18us a lot of time
23:19and effort
23:20to understand
23:20how we ended up
23:21in this situation
23:22but it's going to
23:23take time
23:23and we know
23:24we've lost
23:25a year in the process
23:26now we are
23:27understanding
23:28and from here
23:28it should be
23:29much better onward
23:30hopefully this weekend
23:31is the last race
23:32of the really
23:33bad situation
23:34that we're in
23:35the heavy car
23:36yeah the heavy car
23:37the old arrow
23:37exactly
23:38right
23:38and from now on
23:40the Baku car
23:41should have a
23:41positive effect
23:42in the season
23:43but the reality
23:44is that
23:44Baku upgrade
23:45is nowhere near
23:46even where we
23:47should have been
23:49this year
23:49that's why
23:50all of our efforts
23:51to be honest
23:51with you
23:51is focused
23:53on next year's car
23:54for me this year
23:55I'm not going to say
23:56it's a bit of a write-off
23:57but close to it
23:58because I don't even
23:59believe that
24:00with the Baku car
24:01we're going to be
24:02consistent point scorer
24:03right
24:03so that's
24:05that's not enough
24:05that's not where
24:06we want to be
24:06so almost realizing
24:08how far we are
24:10has prompted
24:11some huge changes
24:12in the organization
24:14that I think
24:15even though it's
24:15made us lose a year
24:16are the necessary changes
24:18if you want to be
24:19a top team one day
24:19so in the end
24:20in the long term
24:21this situation
24:22is going to help us
24:23okay
24:23well listen Carlos
24:24thank you so much
24:25and thank you for your
24:26candor and your
24:26openness with your answers
24:28it's always a pleasure
24:29to talk to you
24:29and you should be
24:30very proud
24:30bringing you home
24:31to the Spanish Grand Prix
24:32thank you very much guys
24:37well how often
24:37in the past
24:38have we talked
24:39about this family
24:40as racing royalty
24:42because they are
24:43and it touched upon it
24:44they've got such a great
24:45relationship Martin
24:46as father and son
24:47and I should imagine
24:48they're both sharing
24:50those frustrations
24:50about this car this year
24:52yeah it's tough
24:53for them isn't it
24:54I mean
24:55they went with a lot of hope
24:56last season was going
24:58quite nicely for a while
24:59for Carlos at Williams
25:00and then
25:01with these new regulations
25:03they seem to have
25:03lost their way
25:04and I think he's just
25:05going to have to be patient
25:06and hope that that comes back
25:08it's a great team
25:09we all know
25:09it's got a great resource
25:11at Williams
25:12so all the ingredients
25:14are there
25:14and I think
25:15hopefully his patience
25:16will pay off
25:16and same for everybody
25:17yeah I mean
25:18he's got the contract
25:19extended contract
25:20and you know
25:21he's keeping faith
25:22in the project
25:23that's the thing
25:23he's a class driver
25:25I mean we know
25:26that that is a signature
25:27that other teams
25:28would value
25:28yeah they definitely would
25:30and I think
25:31you know I guess
25:32when Max Verstappen signed
25:33then lots of things
25:34sort of fell into place
25:35in terms of
25:36Sully's season
25:36transfer window
25:37but I think Williams
25:38have underperformed
25:39this year
25:39we were expecting
25:40bigger things
25:41we thought that
25:41given some of the issues
25:43that they went through
25:43towards the end of last year
25:45we thought
25:45they were building
25:46for this year
25:47sort of sacrifice last year
25:48and then it's not performed
25:49at the level
25:50that we expected it to
25:51the car has been heavy
25:52and late
25:53and underpowered
25:55so all of those things
25:57together
25:58have not made
25:58for the year
26:00the season
26:00that either Williams driver
26:01wanted
26:02Nico
26:02he's got a massive fan base
26:04we know that
26:04I mean he's hugely popular
26:05here
26:06as is Fernando Alonso
26:07and obviously
26:09Alonso was
26:10besides his hero
26:11etc etc
26:12but where do you
26:13kind of rank him
26:14if you look at the
26:15tiers of drivers
26:16is he right up there
26:17is he a top 5 driver
26:18for you
26:18it's a really tough
26:20moment for him
26:21because just 2 years ago
26:22he was in a Ferrari
26:23fighting for race wins
26:25kind of on a par
26:26with Charles
26:26just a little bit behind
26:28towards the end there
26:29so he was really
26:30driving amazingly well
26:31and now almost
26:31at the back of the grid
26:32that's really really tough
26:34but I have to say also
26:35if he wants to get back
26:36into a race winning cockpit
26:38he needs to clearly
26:39dominate Albon
26:41and that's not happening
26:42you know
26:42they're like
26:43to-ing and fro-ing
26:44and so that's not
26:45good enough from him
26:46if he wants to have
26:47a good chance
26:47to get back to the
26:48front of the grid
26:48mid-tier track
26:50I mean what are you
26:51saying by that
26:52this year
26:52yeah you would say
26:53I mean top 10 certainly
26:56but not more than that
26:57you know
26:57and he needs to
26:58show that he's capable
27:00of more again
27:01to get himself
27:02in a better position
27:02the problem there
27:04for drivers like
27:04Carlos Sainz
27:05and Esteban Ocon
27:06and others
27:07is there's a great
27:09bunch of young kids
27:10knocking on the door
27:11Camera would be one
27:12Fauna Roli
27:13and there's
27:14you know
27:14all the teams now
27:15have got this
27:15wonderful sort of
27:17staircase of talent
27:18coming through
27:19and if you're in
27:21your late 20s
27:22early 30s
27:23and you're not
27:23as you say
27:24really cooking on gas
27:26out there
27:26you've got to be
27:27looking over your shoulder
27:28just saw Derek Warwick
27:29out there
27:30one of the stewards
27:31today eating a boccadilla
27:32just before he goes
27:33back into the pen
27:34of stewards
27:35and obviously
27:36give it
27:37I mean
27:37three-page good penalty
27:38for Carlos Sainz
27:39at his home Grand Prix
27:40obviously
27:41you know
27:41he was obviously
27:43going to be given it
27:44but even still
27:45it's a shame
27:46really
27:46starting the 20th
27:48at his home Grand Prix
27:49and then made worse
27:49players today
27:50yeah it is a shame
27:51but hopefully from there
27:52he has a chance
27:52to do some overtaken
27:53I have to sort of watch
27:54a bit of a Marilyn Monroe
27:56going on there
27:56I stand closer to Martin
27:57so
28:01anyway back to the point
28:03what I was going to say
28:04is well maybe he can do
28:05some overtaken for there
28:06if there's any
28:06Steven Grace
28:07a few positions
28:08further back
28:08the car pace
28:09should be better than that
28:10so at least that gives him
28:12a chance during this race
28:12to go forward
28:13rather than just be
28:14looking over his shoulder
28:15right let's hear from him
28:16alongside Fernando Alonso
28:19you said qualifying
28:20didn't really come
28:21how you wanted
28:24what can we do
28:25from the back now
28:26what's the plan
28:28today we just need to enjoy
28:30I think we don't have a car
28:32to score points
28:32or to have an amazing race
28:34unless something big
28:35happens in front
28:36but I'll still enjoy
28:37every lap I do
28:38I will give it my best
28:40and we will make it
28:41the last year
28:42that I don't have
28:43a competitive car
28:44in Madrid
28:44hopefully
28:49I think it is
28:51it is a very special feeling
28:53you know
28:53to race for the second time
28:55in Spain
28:56but yeah
28:57I think a lot of unknowns
28:58as you said
28:59tired degradation
29:01overtaking opportunities
29:02all these kind of things
29:03so yeah
29:04we will do our best
29:07the curious case
29:08of Fernando Alonso
29:09where he might end up
29:10next year
29:11when he was asked
29:11at the press conference
29:12on Thursday
29:13he was very very coy
29:15about it
29:16and then he had
29:16the bizarre situation
29:17didn't you Martin
29:18of the president
29:19of the FIA
29:20saying look
29:20we can't afford
29:21to lose him
29:22we'll do anything
29:22to keep him
29:23we might even
29:24change a few things
29:25they kind of
29:25rode back a little bit
29:26on that
29:27but it was a
29:29weird thing to happen
29:30random wasn't it
29:31it was very random
29:31yeah
29:31thank you for the answer
29:33but you know
29:34he's welcome to his
29:35opinions isn't he
29:36as much as
29:36anybody else
29:38I mean
29:38I love it in F1
29:39at the moment
29:40you've got
29:40now a 20 year old
29:42Kimi Antonelli
29:43and you can measure him
29:45against the greats
29:46like Fernando Alonso
29:47like Lewis Hamilton
29:48in their 40s
29:50and it's brilliant
29:51to have that range
29:53across the grid
29:54I can't help but think
29:55if I was running
29:57Aston Martin
29:58and this
29:58this will go down
29:59really well
30:01they're rebuilding
30:02that team
30:02they're building
30:03for the future
30:03Adrian New
30:04is at the drawing board
30:06relentlessly
30:08I've been inclined
30:09to get a couple
30:10mid 25 year olds
30:11and rebuild
30:12the driving line
30:13up as well
30:13really
30:14yeah
30:14I told you
30:14it wouldn't go down
30:15well
30:15that is how I see
30:18where they're at
30:19at the moment
30:19so big news here
30:20Martin thinks
30:21we need to chuck out
30:22Fernando Alonso
30:23I knew you'd go there
30:24but
30:24just
30:25you know
30:26with your
30:28sort of
30:28yeah
30:30you're right
30:30that's what I said
30:31isn't it
30:31but that's not
30:32what I really mean
30:33because I said
30:34we love
30:34having him around
30:35but
30:36if I was the team
30:37I'd be rebuilding
30:38the driver
30:39pairing
30:40ready for the next phase
30:41okay
30:42I don't agree with that
30:43because Fernando
30:43if you compare him
30:45to Lance Stroll
30:46he's still driving
30:47really well
30:48he's dominating Lance
30:49all the time
30:49in every single session
30:51and let's remember
30:52Lance when he has a good car
30:53can get into the top six
30:54he's a decent driver
30:56so I think that's still
30:57quite an okay benchmark
30:58for us
30:58the problem that
30:59that Aston has
31:00is that
31:01they cannot keep
31:02Lance
31:03Fernando
31:03and put in a young
31:05new superstar
31:06alongside him
31:07because Lance
31:08is obviously
31:08set there
31:09that's kind of
31:10the conundrum
31:11that they have
31:11a little bit
31:12but I think
31:13at the moment
31:13with this driver lineup
31:15it's okay
31:15to bring the team
31:16back forward
31:17for Fernando
31:18there's a few things
31:19going on right
31:20he's very openly
31:21critical
31:21and he's been
31:22taking that
31:23to MBS
31:24and to Stefano
31:25about the rule set
31:26he's got a car
31:27that he's not performing
31:28or an engine
31:28at the very least
31:29that's not performing
31:30just had a kid
31:31maybe his life's changed
31:32a little bit
31:32there's a lot of things
31:33that might be pulling him
31:34in one direction
31:36but ultimately
31:37I just wonder
31:38if money might talk
31:40or what they need to do
31:41to keep him
31:42and whether this is actually
31:43contract negotiations
31:44that is why he's
31:45sort of being so caught
31:46I'd imagine there's definitely
31:47contract negotiations
31:48going on
31:49of course there are
31:50but I think that
31:51you know
31:52it is
31:52it can't be fun
31:54although we'd all live
31:55to give it a go
31:55it can't be fun
31:56driving around
31:57at the back
31:57having such unreliability
31:59within the car
32:01you know
32:01it would qualify
32:02and knowing that
32:03you're only going to do
32:03the Q1 session
32:04largely
32:05there was a big
32:06promised upgrade
32:06in Hungary
32:07for the car
32:07so I think
32:08yes the engine's
32:09underperforming
32:09but I think the car
32:10has at the beginning
32:11of the year as well
32:12and that upgrade
32:13did bring some
32:14performance in Hungary
32:15and then the engine upgrade
32:16hasn't maybe brought
32:16as much as we would hope
32:18so he's not enjoying it
32:20and there comes a point
32:22where it's like
32:23is that worth it then
32:24is it worth
32:25putting yourself at risk
32:26week in week out
32:27you know
32:27doing 24 races
32:29through the season
32:30if you don't enjoy it
32:31he's got a way up
32:32hasn't he
32:32whether he's willing
32:34to wait until 20, 30
32:35or if they can't get it right
32:36that's what he's
32:37weighing up at the moment
32:38and he's not getting
32:39any younger
32:40but we'd all like to see him
32:41at the very front
32:42wouldn't we
32:43how about that
32:43those two
32:44the manager
32:45of Real Madrid
32:46Jose Mourinho
32:47and Rafa Nadal
32:48who's a big fan
32:49both there at the
32:49Bernabeu last night
32:51plenty of players
32:52here as well today
32:53we'll continue building
32:54in a couple of moments
32:55of time
33:04welcome back
33:04viewers lucky enough
33:05to go to the
33:06Bernabeu last night
33:07to see Real Madrid
33:08play
33:09they won 4-1
33:10Jonju Bellium
33:11scoring one

34:38beautiful layout
34:40I think the track
34:41is very difficult
34:41for the drivers
34:43I think it's tricky
34:43hopefully there won't
34:45be too many red flags
34:46I was expecting
34:47more crashes
34:48you make a mistake
34:50you're out
34:51the people say
34:53it's dangerous

35:44vamos Lando
35:45the defending champion
35:47to the line
35:48is on pole
35:49let's go
35:49Team Lando
35:51oh
35:52what a lot
35:53thank you guys
35:54that's why I love Formula 1
35:55thank you so much
35:58gorgeous water guys
35:59water
36:04and all of those fans wondering what might happen over the 57 laps of this new venue around the 22
36:12corners
36:13here's Ant with his track guide
36:22every driver loves the challenge of racing on a new track for the first time
36:25and that's the case for all the drivers here at the Madrid circuit
36:31after the first couple of corners through 1 and 2
36:34you then thunder down towards 5-6 complex of speeds close to 200 miles an hour
36:39it's going to be double file into here
36:41but then single file as you head through the rest of this complex
36:44before you go up the hill and through the tunnel towards turn 7
36:52you accelerate quickly out of turn 6
36:54as you head up the hill towards turn 7
36:57and there's a steep incline here
36:58we're in the heart of the braking zone at the 50 metre board
37:01and it's impossible from here inside the car to see the apex
37:07at the apex itself
37:08you slow down to second gear around 45 to 50 miles an hour
37:12if you lock up you've got a quick decision to make
37:15do you run off wide to the runoff zone
37:16or battle the car all the way to the wall on the exit
37:19and all of this can damage your momentum through turn 8
37:27after the chicane of turns 7, 8 and 9
37:30you arrive at this part of the track
37:31Le Monumentel
37:33turn 12
37:34a very high speed
37:36constant radius right hand corner
37:38with 13 degrees of banking
37:40this corner goes on
37:41it's a 270 degree arc radius
37:44inside the car it feels like it goes on forever
37:46as you carry a minimum speed
37:48of 145 miles an hour
37:53this is something it's an epic track
37:56it's I like it because the corners follow into each other
37:59and you've got to be to know where to carry the speed
38:02it's cool
38:02yeah it's definitely a lot of change of directions
38:05yeah
38:05high speed
38:06I wish I was out there
38:07it's going to be fun man
38:09good luck
38:14after the tricky braking zone into turn 17
38:17where it's very easy to lock either a front or both front tyres
38:20and make a mistake
38:21you then re-accelerate through the tunnel
38:23and arrive into this high speed chicane
38:26of turns 18 and 19
38:27and here in 19
38:29you're really at the edge of adhesion
38:31from all four tyres in the car
38:33you're playing with the track limits on the right hand side
38:36watch out for the blue and white lines
38:37on the exit of the corner
38:39you have the wall waiting for you
38:41and it's intimidating
38:42especially if you're in the turbulence of the car in front
38:49after the last two 90 degree right hand corners
38:51you end up back onto the start finish straight
38:53and after 57 laps on Sunday
38:56we'll find out who's mastered the new Madrid circuit
38:59better than all the rest
39:05we will and I think the main question is
39:08who can be lightest on the tyres
39:10but just getting into this corner
39:11that we've all been talking about coming into
39:14this monumental 550 metres 270 degrees
39:17it goes in almost a complete circle
39:19or three quarters of a circle
39:21and of course a 13 degree of banking
39:23are we going to see wheel to wheel action there
39:25please
39:26I would really like so
39:27I was really hopeful
39:28it's not up to me
39:29but I was really hopeful
39:30coming into the weekend
39:31that it would be a bit like Zambor
39:32you know we see cars open in lap
39:34some on the high side
39:36some down lower
39:37but actually this weekend
39:38we've not seen a lot of different lines
39:39through there Nico
39:40everyone's sort of being down at the bottom
39:42yeah because it's too fast
39:43and you're too on the limit
39:44so there's no way
39:45there's only one line through there
39:47which is a bit of a pity
39:48but it's still an incredibly exciting corner
39:50and I've been speaking to the drivers
39:52normally they don't have forces vertically
39:54you know and here
39:55they're being pushed down into the seat
39:57their steering wheel gets heavy
39:58they're not really able to turn the steering wheel anymore
40:01you know it's a completely different experience
40:03and they're loving it out there
40:04they say it's incredible
40:05right we're going to get into strategy in a bit
40:07but we have got two Ferraris
40:09next to each other on track again
40:11as far as we understand it
40:12Nico I'll come to you on this one
40:13because you were strong on it
40:14you believed absolutely
40:16Charles was at fault
40:17because Lewis ahead
40:18going to the apex of both of the corners
40:20at the chicane last weekend
40:21let's have another look at this one
40:23you and Martin disagreeing on it
40:25but look I just wonder
40:27they had no rules of engagement then
40:29we've not heard any more about that this week either
40:31no so we can see Lewis ahead
40:34going towards the apex there
40:35and that meant Charles had to leave some space
40:37but he didn't
40:37he pushed him out
40:38and then after the race weekend
40:40Charles looked at it
40:41Lewis looked at it
40:42and Charles decided
40:43yes okay it was my fault
40:44I'm going to apologize
40:45so he went up and apologized
40:47but Ferrari from my point of view
40:48is making a big mistake
40:50because what I learned at Mercedes
40:51it's so helpful
40:52for the team to sit the drivers down
40:54and create some very detailed rules of engagement
40:57in wheel-to-wheel racing
40:59between the teammates
41:00you had it at Merck
41:01100%
41:02and they still have it now
41:03and it even evolved
41:04from the day we had it back then
41:05and Ferrari doesn't have anything
41:06this is just not good
41:08because if you leave it to the drivers
41:09they're always going to push the limits
41:12and it just spirals out of control
41:14you know so easily
41:15and they're next to each other
41:16on the grid again today
41:18Lewis is going to want to get one back
41:19even if Charles has said sorry
41:21watch this space
41:22yeah they just have made up over some paddle
41:23but you know that's what it does these days
41:25it's paddle is the new chocolate and roses
41:28for saying sorry
41:29yeah there you go
41:30there's a shot of them doing paddle
41:31right talk to me about tyre strategy
41:33tell me again
41:35I'm sorry to hang all my hopes
41:36I do today Bernie
41:37that someone might be hanging out
41:39for a safety car
41:40and attempting maybe the one stop
41:42or is it dying the wool two stop
41:44yeah I think it's much closer to a two stop
41:46I think the big question is
41:48like we've been talking about
41:48that turn 12 and Monumental
41:50that corner has the potential
41:52to induce greening within the tyre
41:55now if that greening happens
41:56you're on a two stop strategy
41:57so I think it's a medium or a soft start
41:59a lot of the teams apart from Audi
42:01have two sets of hard tyres
42:02so I think the default thinking going into this
42:05is the two stop
42:05now if the teams can control that greening
42:08and they control the tyre degradation
42:10how much they're wearing
42:11how much they're losing in lap time
42:13then that has the potential to become a one stop
42:16and that's the decision that's going to need to be made
42:18across these drivers and the pit walls today
42:21and pretty quickly
42:22in terms of the energy that goes into the tyres
42:25this is the biggest track of the year
42:27especially because of La Monumental
42:29of that corner
42:29so there's a lot of unknowns and risks there
42:32you know tyres could suddenly degrade really quickly
42:34they don't really know how long are they going to last
42:36so hopefully that can bring us some action in the race
42:39no because it's another hot one
42:40let's go to Ted
42:41pit lane is open
42:41Ted all yours
42:43thank you very much Simon
42:44yes let's get ready to vamos
42:46shall we around the Spanish Grand Prix
42:48and what a quality front two rows of the grid we have
42:5112 count them
42:5312 world championships
42:54between Max Verstappen
42:56Lewis Hamilton on the second row
42:59Lando Norris on pole position
43:01and the man who might be champion this year
43:04Kimi Antonelli
43:06we're just waiting for the McLarens to turn up
43:08but what an opportunity
43:10here we go
43:10here's Lewis Hamilton
43:11he's just to go to pass us
43:12we've already spoken about the Ferraris
43:14the prospect of clashing like Monza is in the air
43:17but I think they'll be using extreme caution with each other
43:21but what about Lando Norris
43:23it was really an unexpected pole for him
43:25but he just has to be ready
43:26and then be open to opportunities
43:30take his opportunities where he can
43:32P2
43:33the P2 side of the grid that Antonelli is on
43:36is not so bad
43:37in the lower formula
43:38people have been getting away well
43:40from that side of the grid
43:42but David Croft in the commentary box
43:45those Ferraris
43:46everything is possible
43:47on paper a one stop is the quicker way
43:49as Burnley's been saying
43:50maybe a two stop
43:51but you've got to watch out for the safety cars
43:53and don't react to the safety cars too quickly
43:56because if there's a red flag
43:57you get to change your tyres for free
43:59yeah it just complicates things even further
44:01for those on the pit wall
44:02making the strategy today
44:03just to put a bit of detail
44:05into what Ted was saying there
44:06we've had six races so far
44:08the support category is in F2
44:09and in F3
44:11and P2
44:12has taken the lead at the start
44:13on four of those six occasions
44:16so does that favour this man
44:17Kimi Antonelli
44:18starting on the front row
44:19alongside Lando Norris
44:21today
44:21for Lando
44:22a 19th career pole
44:24by just 11 milliseconds
44:26what a lap
44:27closest pole margin of the season so far
44:29Lando's won 10
44:30of the last 12 Grand Prix
44:32started from pole
44:33here he comes
44:34including of course those wins
44:35in Budapest
44:36and in Zandvo
44:37don't count out Max Verstappen
44:39from P3 today
44:40he won the last time
44:41he started there
44:42Qatar last season
44:44and a week after Monza
44:45we've been talking about it
44:47and those first chicane shenanigans
44:49the two Ferrari drivers
44:50separated
44:51by only six milliseconds
44:52in qualifying
44:53at their fourth and fifth
44:54on the grid
44:55seven apiece
44:56and the quali
44:56head to head this year
44:58further back
44:58three place grid penalty
45:00has dropped the man
45:01from Madrid
45:01Carlos Sainz
45:02to 20th
45:03stewards ruling
45:04that he impeded
45:05Valtteri Bottas
45:06in qualifying
45:06the other Spanish driver
45:07Fernando Alonso
45:08in his 22nd Spanish Grand Prix
45:11starts 17th
45:12they're all on the grid
45:13Oli Behrman isn't
45:14he's changed his chassis
45:16so he'll start
45:16from the pit lane
45:17so Martin Brundle
45:18will be walking up and down
45:20the grid in a moment
45:21with 21 cars on it
45:22he's getting ready
45:23for Martin's grid walk
45:24and that is coming next
45:26on this Spanish Grand Prix Sunday
45:38welcome back
45:39F3 has crowned
45:40a new champion today
45:42American driver
45:43Ugo Lugachukro
45:45and he is the first
45:46American driver
45:48to win F3
45:50pipped Britain's
45:51Freddie Slater
45:52he's actually 15 points behind
45:54coming into the weekend
45:56so he's taken that
45:57it's a big win that
45:59for American Motorsport
46:00well done to him
46:02let's get back into
46:03what we were talking to
46:03before the break
46:04rudely interrupted you
46:05Berlian
46:06with regards to Ferrari
46:07you've got two Ferraris there
46:09in the top five
46:10might there be a chance
46:12bearing my ball
46:12we were just discussing
46:13that they could split
46:14the strategy
46:15yeah I think there's
46:16a lot of potential
46:16for mixed up strategy today
46:17I think nobody has
46:18any information
46:19on Ferrari tyres
46:20so that's going to
46:21really play into it
46:21I think Ferrari ran a medium
46:23in the first run of Q1
46:25so that medium
46:26if they were to use it
46:26is used
46:27same with Verstappen
46:28the advantage that Ferrari
46:30has is they have
46:30a new set of soft tyres
46:32so if I was one of
46:33the Ferrari drivers
46:34I would be pushing
46:35to start on that soft
46:36even though
46:37that might be a little bit
46:38harder on the greener
46:39with the high fuel
46:40or do they save it
46:41for the end
46:41in the last minute
46:42safety car
46:42so that's the discussion
46:43that we have in a Ferrari
46:44I think the other thing
46:45that we've got to
46:46bring into play
46:47we saw it in the F3
46:48we've seen a lot of crashes
46:49you touched on it
46:50at the top here
46:51because it's such a technical track
46:52a lot of blind quarters
46:54a lot of blind exits
46:54and entries
46:55etc etc
46:57today I mean
46:58we could get a few
47:00red flags here
47:00couldn't we
47:01this track looks
47:02almost harder than Monaco
47:04we've seen more mistakes
47:05more crashes
47:06than anywhere else
47:08so far this year
47:08we've seen also
47:10big crashes and shunts
47:11in the other categories
47:13like F3 here
47:14if there's one crash
47:15everybody crashes behind
47:16look you've got another car
47:17flying over the other one
47:19behind there
47:19this was a massive pile up
47:21because it's just so difficult
47:22to avoid once there's a crash
47:24you know
47:24and also the speeds
47:25are so high
47:26so I think this race
47:28as I said before
47:28could be seriously eventful
47:30today
47:31exactly
47:31everyone's okay by the way
47:32in that crash there
47:34but the traffic too
47:35if you're strategically
47:36you are not wanting
47:38to get caught behind people
47:39because of the change
47:39in direction
47:41there's areas where
47:41you can't really get out
47:42of the way
47:42if you're a car
47:43that's being lapped
47:44etc
47:44yeah exactly
47:45I think that here
47:46the blue flags
47:47is going to take a lot
47:48out of your lap time
47:49I also think that
47:50the drivers are going to
47:51have to be very careful
47:52when they choose their
47:53pedestal
47:53you don't want to come out
47:54behind another car
47:55because that could mean
47:56you're stuck for several laps
47:57and lose any opportunity
47:58of undercutting a car ahead
48:00for example
48:01and Max said it nicely
48:02in the press
48:04they were saying
48:05do we need a mad Max
48:06tomorrow to go for the win
48:07and Max's answer was
48:09no no
48:09if I want to go for the win
48:10there needs to be
48:11a gentle Max tomorrow
48:12otherwise I'm going to shunt
48:14there's no such thing
48:15is there
48:16gentle Max
48:17he said it
48:18what
48:18yeah exactly
48:19I read that as well
48:20but yeah I mean
48:21I think he's just
48:22fully aware
48:22particularly for the Red Bulls
48:24yesterday in qualifying
48:25where the tyres were just
48:27they were running out of gas
48:28weren't they
48:28in the third sector
48:29that's where they lost
48:30their lap time
48:30yeah that is where
48:31they lost their lap time
48:32I think you know
48:33Max did better
48:34I think in qualifying
48:34than we thought
48:35maybe earlier on
48:36in the weekend
48:36again you know
48:37I think he's
48:38he has a decision to make
48:39between news medium
48:40or soft at the start
48:43I think he'd probably
48:44go for the medium
48:44but it will be interesting
48:45to see how that pans out
48:46for Max
48:47yeah and the curb riding
48:49too yeah as you were saying
48:49that Red Bull isn't
48:51as compliant
48:52it isn't mechanically
48:53as strong as say
48:54the McLaren
48:55yeah this is a track
48:56where curb riding
48:57is very important
48:58because you have
48:58these two chicanes
48:59with massive curb impacts
49:01and the cars
49:02if they're softer
49:03through there
49:03you just make up
49:04so much time
49:05and that's what we saw
49:06from McLaren
49:07from Lando's car
49:08it was beautiful
49:09through there
49:09just on the second
49:11Red Bull
49:12on Liam Lawson
49:13by the way
49:13I felt sorry for him
49:15in Monza
49:16obviously having to take
49:17the penalty
49:17and it didn't particularly
49:18go well for the race
49:19losing 30 odd seconds
49:21because of the restart
49:22coming together
49:22and losing a bit
49:23of front wing
49:23with Nico Hulken
49:24how's he fair
49:25if this is to be
49:26his last outing
49:27and he's had three races
49:27up against the best
49:29of the best
49:29what mark out of 10
49:30would you give him
49:31yeah I think he's done
49:32really well
49:32that's probably like
49:33an 8 or 9 out of 10
49:34for Lawson
49:34I think in my opinion
49:36he's got into that car
49:37it was a difficult
49:38first race to get into
49:39here's probably been
49:40a difficult race
49:41for the car
49:41that we think
49:41is maybe not as stable
49:42as the RB
49:43and I think he's done well
49:45the problem is that
49:46a 10 out of 10
49:47is not beating
49:48Max Verstappen
49:49a 10 out of 10
49:50for us
49:50is like being consistently
49:52within 2-3 tenths
49:54of Max Verstappen
49:55because that's almost
49:56more than is possible
49:57in that second Red Bull car
49:58but he's been on par
49:59though with Isaac
50:00would you say
50:01I mean what we're saying
50:02is that maybe
50:03maybe he lost face
50:04at the beginning
50:04of last season
50:05because the gap
50:06was so wide
50:06but actually
50:07it's narrowed a bit
50:08under these regulations
50:09between whoever
50:10Max's team mate
50:11is either of them
50:12and Max himself
50:13no sure
50:13we can say that
50:14Lawson has really
50:15done well
50:16to jump into that car
50:17without having
50:18done much driving
50:18in that
50:18it's always a different
50:19car
50:20you need to get used
50:20to it
50:21he's done very well
50:22right
50:23let's get busy
50:23on here
50:24so let's head into
50:25into the grid
50:26where are you Martin
50:27here's grid one
50:28I'm just getting
50:29out of the way
50:29of George Russell
50:30trying not to run me
50:31over on his scooter
50:32actually
50:33welcome to the
50:34measuring grid
50:35it's very narrow
50:36isn't it
50:36it's very narrow
50:37I would say we have
50:38a quick word with Max
50:39quick word Max
50:40how is it
50:41how's the track
50:43it's warm
50:43you know
50:44so it will be
50:44for sure tough
50:45on tyres
50:46I heard Ferrari
50:48were scrubbing
50:49in their hard
50:50compounds
50:50on the warm-up labs
50:51it's something
50:52that a few teams
50:53already have been
50:54doing for a while
50:55okay thanks
50:56right we'll head back
50:57it's quite an
50:57interesting grid actually
50:58because the top
50:59four teams
51:02are quite
51:02mixed up
51:05at the
51:06front of the grid
51:07we've got a Red Bull
51:08of Liam Lawson
51:09then we've got a McLaren
51:10of Oscar Piastri
51:12hello my friend
51:12how are you
51:14and then we go
51:15to a Mercedes
51:16and then we go
51:16to a couple of
51:17Ferraris
51:17so the top four
51:19are really dispersed
51:20hello Fred
51:22across the grid
51:23Fred doesn't like
51:23talking on the grid
51:26I'm hearing
51:26Rafa Nadal
51:27walking down the grid
51:28there'll be a big
51:30entourage
51:30I can see him
51:32right
51:33let's dive in here
51:34see how that goes
51:36he's just talking
51:37to ORF
51:38at the moment
51:39so
51:40let's see
51:41if I can
51:43get next
51:46he's got a
51:47big entourage
51:48with him
51:48so I want to
51:49chat with him
51:52I won't interrupt
51:53yet
51:55and
51:58there's another
51:59question
52:06I really want to
52:07talk to Rafa Nadal
52:08I really want to
52:09talk to him
52:09so I'm going away
52:10I think I'm next
52:12in line
52:12Rafa Martin
52:14Brando Sky F1
52:15how are you
52:15very good
52:16thank you
52:16second Grand Prix
52:17in Spain this year
52:18first one in Madrid
52:20what do you think
52:20of it so far
52:21sorry Sagan
52:22what do you think
52:23of this new Madrid
52:25well I think
52:26the energy will be
52:27unforgettable
52:27because Madrid
52:28is a place
52:30with a lot of energy
52:32and then
52:34all the new races
52:35new circuits
52:36and new tracks
52:37going to be
52:38a little bit more
52:40than expected
52:40for the pilots
52:43for the teams
52:44hopefully we're going
52:45to have an emotional
52:45weekend
52:46and you're cheering
52:47for Carlos and Fernando
52:48I guess
52:49of course
52:49I know they are
52:50going through
52:51hard times
52:52but let's see
52:52thank you for your
52:53time
52:54there we go
52:55where am I
52:56I'm in the middle
52:57of the Ferraris

52:59so let's
53:00is that Vinicius Junior
53:01there
53:03I think it is
53:06yes it is
53:07I'm going to have
53:08a quick chat
53:08there's a lot of
53:09Real Madrid players
53:11on the

53:23on the 4-1 victory
53:24last night
53:26yeah
53:26anyway we got a few
53:27worse didn't we
53:28so it's quite busy
53:29down here
53:30I started to tell you
53:31didn't I
53:31that it's quite a narrow
53:33grid actually
53:33it's a little bit
53:34wider than Monaco
53:35but not that much
53:36actually
53:37if you remember
53:37last week's
53:38gridwalk in Monaco
53:38saying there was
53:39all that
53:39sort of land
53:41out to the right
53:43to get out
53:44jail free
53:45sort of area
53:46definitely you don't
53:47have that here
53:48it's two walls
53:50somebody's tapping
53:50how are you
53:51nice to see you
53:52good to see you

54:01so
54:02hello
54:03so you're
54:04I mean
54:04Lando's half Belgian

54:06you might be cheering
54:08Max also
54:09so yeah
54:10absolutely
54:10so nice to see
54:12and you
54:13have a great day
54:14thanks for supporting
54:15F1
54:16Thibault Courtois
54:18tapping me on the
54:18shoulder there
54:19so
54:20Gunter
54:21I mean like
54:22come on
54:22come on
54:22out of my way
54:25right
54:25we're up against
54:26the Red Bulls
54:26I think we need to
54:27head towards the
54:28front
54:28quite early on
54:30actually
54:30see if we can
54:31get through
54:32see I'd like to
54:32talk to some
54:35some more
54:36I wonder
54:37there's a
54:38Jude
54:39Bellingham
54:40is here
54:41somewhere
54:41I definitely
54:42want to talk
54:42to him
54:45he's near the
54:46Ferraris
54:47I'm hearing
54:49so am I
54:50near the
54:50Ferraris
54:51how long have I
54:51got left
54:52about a few
54:53minutes
54:53haven't I
54:55very good
54:56thank you
54:56very much
54:57Gabby
54:58as you probably
54:59know
55:00I have people
55:00chatting away to
55:01me about
55:02various things
55:03so where
55:04is Jude
55:05where's Jude
55:09there we go
55:12ah there he is
55:14he's
55:15the one in the
55:16jeans
55:17there's Jude
55:18and Joe
55:19I don't know if I can
55:19get in there
55:20can I get in there
55:22yeah there's somebody
55:24yeah
55:25yeah
55:25why are we going to get
55:26into the Mercedes zone
55:27thank you very much
55:29Jude
55:30how are you
55:31hi Martin you alright
55:32yeah congratulations
55:3335th minute goal last night
55:34with your 4-1 victory
55:35pretty good going
55:36yeah good going
55:37yeah good start to the
55:38season from the team
55:39one little slip up
55:40other than that
55:41doing pretty good
55:41yeah I mean I love
55:43watching you in the
55:43world cup
55:44just outstanding
55:45thank you
55:46thank you so much
55:47I'm glad you had a good time
55:48good what have you seen
55:49what have you learned
55:49today about our
55:51wonderful F1
55:51yeah I've been with
55:52Mercedes and met George
55:53and Kimmy and yeah
55:54they're telling us about
55:56it I've got to act like
55:57I understand but
55:58to be honest the level
55:59that those guys are
56:00operating at in terms
56:01of the strategy and
56:01all those things
56:02they're different level
56:03yeah I mean there's a
56:04lot last time I drove
56:05one of these I counted
56:0529 controls in the
56:08cockpit many of which
56:09have got menus on them
56:10some believe I mean
56:11I'm used to a
56:12PlayStation controller
56:13and these guys are
56:14whipping out these
56:14things with 40
56:16buttons so credit to
56:17them the work
56:18they put in they
56:18deserve everything
56:19they get
56:19they're pretty calm
56:20aren't they considering
56:21it's race day
56:21yeah it's the thing
56:22that I most admire
56:23you know the poise
56:24of them all is really
56:25impressive you know
56:26thanks for your time
56:27thank you very much
56:27Martin
56:28thank you
56:28right I think we
56:30need to get to the
56:31front and see if we
56:32can get through this
56:33famous legendary rope
56:36down here and
56:39catch some F1
56:41styley people on the
56:43way up and we'll
56:45go to Lando's
56:47car on pole position
56:49a great effort
56:50there and here we
56:53go Ralph how are you
57:00good this is all
57:02going terribly well
57:02if we can just squeeze
57:04through here who is
57:06that should I know
57:06who that is no I
57:09don't think I do
57:10right where is Lando's
57:12car so I was telling
57:13you wasn't I there
57:13are you've got a real
57:15mix of Mercedes
57:18McLarens Ferraris and
57:19Red Bulls in the top
57:21eight and that's going
57:21to be fascinating to
57:23watch I still haven't
57:24made it to the front of
57:25the grid believe it or
57:26not right I can't go
57:28through that man's
57:28camera shot because
57:30that's not protocol in
57:32our business can you do
57:35this Lee this is quite
57:37busy isn't it this is
57:38very busy yeah absolutely
57:42yeah right the other
57:44thing here is I think
57:45that the the left hand
57:47side of the grid so
57:49second fourth thing is
57:51considered to be a little
57:53bit more grippy and you've
57:55got the inside line down
57:57into the first corner
57:58then Zach what a lap
58:00that was from Lando
58:01that was an amazing lap
58:03I think maybe the best
58:04lap he's done in Formula
58:05One it's certainly 21
58:07brilliant corners yeah
58:08yeah but there's 22 on
58:10the track but he got
58:11away yeah he built
58:12himself up a bit of a
58:13margin we've been joking
58:14around with him what a
58:14he's just driving so well
58:16all year so I think it's
58:19gonna be a tough race
58:19yeah and so can you stay
58:22in the lead that's the big
58:23question today yeah you
58:24know with him missing one
58:25of the practices we had
58:26some graining it's kind of
58:28hard to know what race
58:29base looks like short run
58:31to turn one pole has not
58:33worked out well for a lot
58:34of the support races so
58:36it's gonna be a tough one
58:37but we're excited all right
58:38have a good race cheers
58:39right let's go through we
58:41can get I think we can get
58:42through the middle of here
58:43early if we can uh no here
58:47right here's the gap that's
58:50okay one of those wonderful
58:52see that little sticker there
58:53that just makes all the
58:54difference here and
58:56there's what he says George
58:59thank you George
