00:17U.S. subscriber penetration reached 63 percent, its highest level in several years, while
00:23Japan hit a record 22 percent.
00:25Mahaney said Netflix's ad-supported standard plan is attracting new subscribers and helping
00:29retain customers considering canceling.
00:31In Japan, two-thirds of new ad-tier subscribers were either returning or new customers.
00:36Live programming also helped attract subscribers, including the World Baseball Classic.
