00:00well once again it looks like a desperate establishment are going to try and change
00:04the rules to stop reform uk and i wrote about the incredible development over the weekend in terms
00:11of these donations over at heaver news i do see the link below this video to go and read
00:17my article and be a part of heaver news but yeah look it's extraordinary isn't it we've
00:23seen people in this country in recent times cancel elections so i really wouldn't put
00:27anything past the establishment anymore and we're seeing just because the playing field has been
00:35leveled in terms of funding and reform uk receiving those donations all sorts of talk now of trying to
00:43change the rules and i think this is actually pretty frightening even that you could see
00:51changes made that would apply retrospectively and this was angela rayner speaking on the bbc
00:59to be really clear and you are the cabinet minister in charge of this you're saying very specifically
01:05that the measures will apply retrospectively the logical conclusion of that is that these two men
01:11who have been based abroad although bendela we understand has moved back to the uk their donations
01:17could in future become illegal and you might expect them then to would you ask reform to give them
01:23back well again we're saying that with the retrospective action anyone that's received donations that
01:29doesn't comply with what was in the ryecroft review what legislation is currently going through
01:34parliament would have 60 days to return that money that is a not for those individuals let me be
01:41really clear i do not understand those individual circumstances but that the retrospective action will
01:47apply from the 25th of march i mean it is astonishing isn't it really to hear that that sort of
01:53stance
01:54being taken by the government but you can see here reform confident that the donations will be safe
02:02from new rules you've got zia yusuf there referring to angela rayner saying that she's arguing that we
02:09will have broken rules her party intends to create and apply retroactively to confiscate donations that
02:15were lawful when received this is unprecedented literally changing the rules after the fact to
02:20punish a political opponent that would be fatal to the very concept of the rule of law and that if
02:26burnham does this he'll be responsible for collapsing the legitimacy of democratic government in
02:31britain now reform you can see they're confident but still pretty extraordinary isn't it to hear this
02:38sort of language from the government and responding to this on sky was richard tyce watch this and
02:43please do let me know your thoughts in the comments below understanding is that these donations
02:47comply not only with the existing laws but also with the existing legislation going through the
02:53house of parliament in the house of lords literally as we speak today and tomorrow um whether or not the
02:58labour party then try and change things yet again because they're so jealous that actually someone else
03:04might be raising some money apart from themselves time will tell but based on everything that's out there
03:09at the moment we were advised very clearly that these donations comply
