For single-arm rows, the biggest goal is to keep the movement controlled so your back does most of the work instead of your shoulder, arm, or momentum.

Think about pulling your shoulder blade slightly back and down before driving the elbow behind you.

If you want more emphasis on the lats, a slightly wider elbow path can involve more upper back and rear delts.
