00:23my friend oh it's uh it's just beautiful here got in uh got a little bit late last night but
00:29yeah no it was uh just looking at everything again this morning after seeing my eyeballs
00:36had a chance to see it up close um a lot of growing a lot of growing to do and
00:43uh i was just a lot of
00:45things going through the good and the bad last night and this is what happens when you don't
00:51play a lot in the preseason and i don't mean veterans didn't play a lot a lot of the rookies
00:57didn't play a lot especially the key guys they wanted this they wanted to make sure they were
01:02the guy they knew the guys they knew were going to be playing a lot in the opener and it's
01:07gotten
01:07where it's more important that in today's game that you're healthy instead of get a lot of work and
01:13that's a change in league and i get it money and and making sure you know high paid guys and
01:19high
01:19draft picks are ready to go but i just saw a lot of rust i mean this zeke biggers thing
01:25and and i'm not
01:26saying zeke was the problem but zeke biggers doesn't play one preseason game and now you throw
01:31him out against the raiders and he plays and he starts he starts the game he's playing inside now
01:36you could see like whatever they saw in practice but practice and playing in the freaking games is
01:42just a different situation and i just felt like a lot of guys got uh got major initiation
01:50in uh in that game last night it's just uh it's kind of like being on the back road on
01:55trying to think a back road going to the everglades and going on those gravel roads about
02:0020 miles an hour and now you've been put on that turnpike uh where there's no where there's you know
02:09you're going 70 80 miles an hour and you're dodging in and out it's just uh it's a different situation
02:14and
02:14i there's a bunch of guys who got the big initiation to the that practice and uh and a
02:22couple of joint practices not going to get you ready for uh for facing nfl caliber football for
02:30the first time in a real game you know joe over the past two hours and 25 minutes we've had
02:35a hard
02:35time identifying the good like you mentioned you've been going through the good and the bad so what
02:40what what did stand out for you in a positive way in a game where it was mostly negative
02:47uh i i just say caleb douglas would be right off the right off the top he just uh you
02:53know he has
02:53fun in the pregame show last night oh man caleb douglas is like he was an hour before the game
02:59and
02:59and he's out there and he's running routes hard and it just to see how fast he was you could
03:06tell
03:06his adrenaline it was his first nfl game and uh he just looked ready ready to go and and he
03:13went out
03:13and had some some nice plays and and held on the ball so he'd be number one um then jacob
03:20rodriguez
03:21again i thought he just got better and better as the game went on i thought a lot of guys
03:26actually
03:27played a little bit better zach sealer for sure played a lot better in the second half in the first
03:32half um but man um it was hard to find guys that had real consistent i thought the safeties played
03:39well taff and zane anderson and dante trader i thought those three guys two of them had interceptions
03:46zane anderson had a great hit should have been off the field and juju rents gets called for taunting
03:53on a third and long and you know we're not good enough to you're not even close to being good
03:57enough
03:57to overcome that this is not the you know the old bad boys of football where we take a personal
04:03foul
04:04we don't care and we'll stop you the next time uh and so it was hard to find a lot
04:09of really good
04:10performances in that game there were some guys were up and down though don't get me wrong there's some
04:14guys that had some plays but then uh i thought jordan phillips got worn out by tyler linderbaum who plays
04:22might be the best center just got a three-year 81 million dollar uh center contracting off season
04:28to go to the raiders and and left the ravens and he's obviously really good and i just saw some
04:35guys
04:35getting pushed around on the defense you're going oh boy this is not a good sign seeing that a little
04:40bit in the middle um offensive line had its good moments but they also had their bad moments and boy
04:47i thought the raiders especially in the second half really picked it up on the pass rush
04:51and another thing that i know i feel like a broken record from from in the morning uh all the
04:59games
04:59they run defensively i knew was going to be a problem they had guys breaking wide open uh games
05:05that you know two guys starting outside one guy cuts back underneath and you know running crisscrosses
05:12and i i just i i was afraid again you see it a little bit in practice but you don't
05:19see any game
05:19situation and and uh at full speed like this against you know crosby looked a lot better in the second
05:26half and he had an impact on the game and and uh so it was just it was like that
05:33i thought they went
05:33after for whatever reason chris johnson got picked on in the slot whether he's covering covering uh a back
05:41out of the backfield or if he was outside i thought they made a point to go after uh the
05:46youngest guy in the
05:47secondary in the game i don't know what the target number was it seemed like it was seven or eight
05:51at least uh that they went after our number one pick and they had some success but i saw him
05:57make
05:57a few plays in the second half i he's not so i know there's gonna be some gloom and doom
06:02but man i
06:04i just saw a lot of this coming hey if you play a decent game you got a chance to
06:09win
06:09they weren't world beaters um you know i'm bouncing around on you guys i i thought chop robinson just
06:16he made a tackle late in the game and hey man i'm sorry but we need more out of chop
06:22i mean you just
06:23that was just you know it was just there was nothing there near the pass rush uh they got off
06:30to a great
06:31start with a get kirk cousins came out got rid of the ball quickly nothing you can do three step
06:36bam
06:37the ball's gone throwing quick outs throwing quick patterns to just get first downs i thought
06:43that's that was good hey listen he's getting his feet wet their receivers are okay they're not a
06:48bunch of pro bowl receivers running around and uh and then as he got more confidence and he got that
06:54running game going and they started running the ball and i go oh boy the play action and uh us
07:00getting
07:01hit and giving him more time to throw the ball and all that happened i mean he it looked
07:07to be a pretty clean uniform when you look at um kirk cousins in that game you know and even
07:13though we threw a couple of interceptions um the pass rush has just got to be a lot better and
07:19he
07:19tried we blitzed we tried some different things i thought they did a good job when we did blitz they
07:24picked him up so uh it was just a lot of frustration so when people say you know oh man
07:31all of our young
07:32guys suck you know i think it's way way too early to say that but but i do understand you
07:40know people
07:41were hoping man if and uh same way if we're going to get a win i'm looking at that roster
07:45it needs to be today and the problem was not just them the problem was we just had a bunch
07:51of guys that
07:52uh that looked like they played their first nfl game well joe i i gotta tell you like you know

07:59we come in this morning and we've you know obviously been getting a lot of reaction from
08:02people and um the reaction is more kind of intense than i had anticipated like i feel like we spent
08:09a
08:09lot of time during the offseason kind of mentally preparing for this thing you know not looking very
08:14good and i don't know if it's because you get guys like omar that are like god they're gonna you
08:19know there's a way to win 10 games or like you look at the schedule now and let's be realistic
08:25joe i you
08:26know i don't know where the win is coming the jets didn't look terrible uh yesterday they're almost
08:31two touchdown underdogs against san francisco yet the chiefs coming up at your home opener like i i
08:37don't know where the wins are going to come and i don't know what the fix is with this roster
08:43to
08:43play better than than you did and hopefully you know they got a week out of napa hopefully something
08:48happens but it's gonna be tough oh it's gonna be tough i i don't know why i don't know where
08:55where
08:55everybody got caught up and people text in all these wins and stuff i i'm sorry man i i didn't
09:02see it uh but the the the part of this team is and you know halfley tried to explain this
09:10and the way
09:11it was explained it doesn't come across great for fans and that is say man we're going to get better
09:15we're going to do it the right way we're going to bring in some good young players and and we're
09:20going to go after it but you know he was really staying away from the wins people like how good
09:25are we how good are we how good are we and uh we got uh not only a young roster
09:32but it's fair it's
09:33fair from everybody you want if they're young you want to see them all play like caleb douglas
09:38you want to see you want to see them get an interception like michael taff and and you want to
09:45see
09:45him make a one-on-one tackle like jacob rodriguez and and uh and and those type of things so
09:52when
09:52you see negative plays from those guys and go well that's our future and they're not you know they're
09:57not having dominant games uh but man there's just it's really hard to jump into this league and i'm not
10:04saying it doesn't happen it does happen but it's more rare than people think and that's for a guy to
10:10just show up in a first game and and play well i do agree i don't know where the wins
10:16come from
10:16uh that's more than fair if if you know i'm just hoping they stay competitive they don't lose their
10:25confidence uh there were a bunch of guys that really bummed out after that game there were a lot
10:30of guys uh around that airplane when we got off when we got on there were a bunch of guys
10:36talking to
10:36coaches and each other uh they really thought they're going to be a lot better than than what
10:41that that game was there it's a what as bad as they were what we're down one touchdown in the
10:46second
10:47half and after malik runs uh outside and runs for a 20-yard touchdown or 15-yard touchdown uh people
10:55all right hey maybe we can complete in some passes and things are looking good and then we went through
11:01a drought and it was just uh it was just bad it was some bad stuff malik made a couple
11:06of bad throws
11:07one got intercepted it could have been more uh but the first half i thought he's pretty good for
11:12considering what he was was going on he kept some plays alive he made some guys miss you can see
11:18how
11:18athletic he is but uh he's gonna need some help i chris bell is still not ready to go i
11:27still see a lot
11:28of rust i think it's going to work its way off uh because we need him to play like caleb
11:33who has
11:34been healthy and by the way after the early preseason great one handy cats they kind of shut
11:41caleb douglas down remember we were like hey where's caleb douglas for the for the rest of camp what's
11:47going on here and he's been quiet you know and and uh and so yeah but it's got to look
11:53a lot better
11:54guys there's no question about it or it's going to be a long long season uh for fans that you
12:01know
12:01we're looking and you want to be competitive and hey i said it all week too if we're going to
12:07get a
12:07win man our best chance to get a win especially on the road is the team we're playing in week
12:11one
12:12yeah and uh and so it didn't happen uh you got to clean up specialty i mean it's just a
12:19lot of things
12:19give up two kickoff returns or two returns that are too long uh we give up we miss a field
12:26goal
12:26uh you can't have a 79 yard kickoff return and get zero points that you know that you you run
12:34out on
12:34the field your offense and you're going wow we're in the red zone first down in the red zone you
12:40can't
12:40come away with uh no points with a negative play that moves your field goal back and then you miss
12:45it
12:46but uh there was just uh there was a lot of stuff man and and by the way as we're
12:51all saying you know
12:52we were bummed out everybody's afterwards going dang man that was so disappointing i just thought i
12:59thought we'd do better and then you sit back man everybody's looking at you going hey man you you
13:05gotta you have to be patient with this group this is a young team you want me to throw the
13:10182 million
13:11in your face that you know you don't have and you are going extra young this is not just your
13:18normal
13:18play this is extra young full of first and second year players doesn't take away though from how we
13:26felt last night on the bus coming over here from uh from the oakland airport to uh napa but yeah
13:33that
13:33was uh guys man i i get the feeling i i get it but there are guys that had a
13:39few good plays some big
13:40hits had some nice plays and then you know turn it around and somebody gets blocked and somebody
13:46misses a tackle and and uh they're running back you know runs for another extra five yards and it just
13:53got you know that got real real frustrating in the game the way genti was able to break some tackles
13:59and and uh his backup also looked really good so it was uh mike washington so it was just kind
14:05of
14:07frustrating across the board i i don't know what to tell fans man i i don't accept um the thing
14:14that
14:14everybody doesn't want to hear in every article because we're going to get to a point where
14:17everybody's going to go i don't want to hear anybody say growing pains again no more
14:25well uh joe it's uh it's a tough uh tough deal right now for uh for dolphins fans but i
14:31will tell you
14:31if you watch the rest of the games yesterday there were a lot of good ones uh i'm going to
14:35put you
14:35on the spot here this has backfired in the past but um can you hang with us for another segment
14:40yeah i want to talk about some of these other games with you here uh you know you we had
14:45a lot
14:45of good words hey woody i understand i understand you got to go to break here because someday we're
14:51going to have a you know they're going to get a boss in there and he's probably going to you
14:54know
14:54probably cracking down on that that format thing so i understand taking shots from 2 000 miles away
15:03donald's going poor donald's going does he ever stop does he ever i love this answer to that is no
