The summer of 1381, bore witness to an extraordinary and unparallelled event in English history. Commonly referred to as The Peasants’ Revolt, it was one of the most explosive popular uprisings of the Middle Ages. Thousands of men and women surged into London, attacking gaols, burning palaces, murdering the Archbishop of Canterbury and even confronting the king himself. So who were these peasants? What was the cause of their fury and how did their actions change the course of English history? In today’s special documentary episode, we’re going to travel back in time and take a look.
