00:00because I really do, John, feel like Brock Purdy had a really good game.
00:05Did you not think that?
00:06I'm not a fan of Brock Purdy.
00:08Neither am I.
00:10I'm not a Brock Purdy supporter.
00:14But at the rate they were cooking tonight,
00:17at the rate they were taking advantage of their mismatches,
00:20he absolutely earned his money tonight.
00:23He took care of business.
00:25The team came out and took care of business.
00:27I thought that they were in a position to put Debo.
00:31He looked more like the Debo that we got used to seeing.
00:34Yes.
00:35What he was doing in Washington, I don't know what they were trying to turn him into.
00:39But having him back here, having him back in a 49er uniform,
00:43he really looked like he knew his part.
00:45He knew where to go.
00:46He looked comfortable in his offense.
00:48And most importantly, Brock Purdy looked comfortable looking for him down in the red zone.
00:53And so they really looked like everybody played their part.
00:57It looked like everybody was in lockstep.
01:00Everything was on a string on both sides of the ball.
01:03And again, Mike Evans was dominating.
01:08Oh, yeah.
01:09Mike Evans was...
01:11And again, the numbers wouldn't tell you that Mike Evans was...
01:14This is like a 10-catch, 170-yard outing.
01:18D was dominating.
01:19And because of what he was doing, it opened everything up on the back end.
01:25And now it didn't look like they were missing Ricky Pearsall.
01:28It didn't look like they were missing Javante Love.
01:31It didn't look like they were missing nobody, bro.
01:34They was out there.
01:35Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.
01:37That run game was on point.
01:39It was an A-plus.
01:41It was an A-plus effort.
01:42A-plus execution.
01:44By somebody...
01:45If you didn't know, if you were in Australia,
01:48and this game ended,
01:49and you went, who do you think is the better team?
01:51It wouldn't...
01:52If you said the Rams were better,
01:54you were drunk off something they handed out over there.
01:58If you didn't watch football,
02:00and you said after that game,
02:02the 49ers look like the team
02:04that people think are going to make a run to the Super Bowl
02:06and make it look easy.
02:07And the Rams look like the team
02:09that you don't know what's next or who's who.
02:13And I don't know if I mentioned this on the show,
02:16but I kind of worried about that
02:20with so many new pieces
02:21to where, like, on the defensive end,
02:24I think I was just telling somebody this in conversation,
02:26but sure, you did get Trent McDuffie
02:29and Jalen Watson, hypothetically.
02:30Didn't see him on the field on Thursday,
02:32I'll tell you that much.
02:33But they did get those two guys.
02:36But you still need to kind of learn schemes
02:39and learn how to play with the rest of your guys
02:41and learn coverages
02:43and learn the speed of your linebackers
02:45and learn how you guys rotate.
02:48And it's just...
02:49There's a lot of different things
02:50that you need to understand.
02:51Sure, they're great.
02:52They're awesome players.
02:53I bet they're going to be good.
02:55What you're arguing is philosophy, though.
02:57What you're arguing is philosophy.
02:59Because if that were the case,
03:00then these guys would have been getting reps.
03:02Hold my breath when I say it.
03:04The preseason.
03:06And again, I understand the NFL season is long.
03:10I totally get it.
03:11But if you're going to come out
03:13and you're going to sacrifice
03:16a couple of weeks to start the season,
03:18this is why Seattle had home court advantage.
03:22This is why you find yourself in situations
03:25at the end of the season,
03:26neck and neck,
03:27and you shouldn't be
03:28when you've given away games.
03:29They gave this game away.
03:31Not like how the game was given away yesterday.
03:35By Drake May.
03:36That's a different kind of giveaway.
03:37This game was given away due to preparation.
03:40This game was given away due to a game plan.
03:43This game was given away.
03:44This is a philosophy sacrifice.
03:47Because they believe
03:49that they would rather have all their guys
03:51ramped up and trying to get in shape
03:53in game one with heavy practices
03:56as opposed to getting guys on the field
03:58in preseason and using preseason
04:00what it's for,
04:01for guys to get reps.
04:02For guys to have live action reps
04:04against other number one guys
04:06in a stadium
04:07with all the cameras on,
04:09with all the lights on.
04:10Because I will tell you this
04:11and I will say this as an athlete.
04:14I got paid to play.
04:15Not a lot because I'm here.
04:17But I made a little bit of change.
04:19And I will tell you this.
04:20Ain't nothing like when the lights come on.
04:23You can do inter-squad practices.
04:25You can do the two teams come together
04:28and they play and they fight in preseason
04:30and in camp.
04:30You can do all that.
04:32When the lights come on,
04:34the adrenaline is there.
04:36When the lights come on,
04:37I'm not going to get embarrassed
04:38on TV is there.
04:39And so you play faster.
04:41You play harder.
04:43And to not have these guys
04:45get some form of a decent tune-up
04:47in the preseason,
04:49teams are sacrificing wins
04:51to start the season for that philosophy.
