00:00Boy, I'll tell you, there was a lot of hitting in that NFC West game yesterday between the Niners and
00:05Seahawks.
00:05A lot of emotions going on, and no question.
00:09Brock Purdy, once again, man, his processing, we were just talking with Coach Martz.
00:14He is just flying up that list when it comes to the MVP.
00:20Were you surprised?
00:2032-29, the 49ers end up getting it done, and they're just playing good ball, and they're undefeated right now.
00:27Now, probably the only thing that you and I would probably question is, will they be healthy in December?
00:35Yeah, that's the big question.
00:36I mean, every year they seem to deal with that litany of injuries, and it's no different this year.
00:41Even in yesterday's game, they lost Debo Samuel to a hamstring injury.
00:45He didn't return, so now they're even more shorthanded at receiver.
00:49Mike Evans has been playing tremendously, though, and Brock Purdy deserves all the credit in the world
00:54for just getting the most out of the weapons he's been given, and you're right.
00:58His processing has just been pristine.
01:00He seems to be seeing the field so well, making quick decisions, and rarely, if ever, making mistakes.
01:06So I thought that game against the Seahawks was going to be a really tough spot for them
01:10because you're going on the road against a very talented Seahawks defense that tested Purdy a lot last year.
01:15I believe he threw two touchdowns and four interceptions across three games against them,
01:19including the playoffs last year, but he really put together just a stellar outing,
01:24and he just kept the 49ers kept punching back.
01:27Every time the Seahawks came back in the game, 49ers managed to punch back.
01:31It was really fun to watch.
01:32I think both teams are very good, but, man, those 49ers being undefeated with the personnel issues
01:37that they've had, super impressive for them, and a major feather in the cap for Kyle Shanahan.
01:42How about also maybe for John Lynch, how important do you think the general manager bringing in Mike Evans
01:50has been to that offense?
01:52You know, they don't have Brandon Iyuk.
01:53They needed really a number one wideout to be able to move the sticks,
01:57so they end up getting a veteran in Mike Evans.
02:00A lot of people thought he was going to come in a little long in the tooth,
02:04but he goes over a C-note yesterday.
02:07He was absolutely sensational.
02:09Ten targets, seven receptions for over 100 yards yesterday.
02:13How important has he been to that offense?
02:16He's been absolutely crucial.
02:18I think you look at him and George Kittle, and you're saying, man,
02:21these two veteran pass catchers have been really the lifeblood of what Brock Purdy has been able to do
02:26in terms of he's targeting these two guys heavily, and they are a big chunk of the passing game there.
02:32But I think Evans in particular, I think a lot of people, myself included, were saying,
02:36you know, he's on the older side, he's had injury issues in recent years,
02:39that might not align well with the 49ers, who, as we already mentioned,
02:43always seem to have a ton of injuries.
02:46And Evans, to his credit, he's been dealing with that rib problem,
02:49but he's been playing through it, and he just looks tremendous out there.
02:52And just his ability to go up and just catch anything that is thrown his way,
02:57that has always been his superpower.
02:58But it's been particularly important for Brock Purdy, because Purdy has just,
03:03when he's needed to throw the ball to someone, and someone may not necessarily be perfectly open,
03:07he's just been able to say, all right, I have Mike Evans, he's down there somewhere,
03:11I'm going to try to get him the ball.
03:12And more often than not, it has worked out.
03:15So major, major move for the 49ers, and it is panning out beautifully,
03:19especially considering all the receivers they've lost to injuries,
03:22from Ricky Pearsall to Debo Samuel, Christian Kirk's been out of action.
03:26So Evans has really been the stalwart in that room.
