06:26out a way that some common ground can be found and that the West Asia situation doesn't totally, it will
06:33have its impact but not totally overshadow the whole thing.
06:37And Iran, in fact the Iranian president of the support coming is talking about issues and here I would also
06:42like to add a part from the broader geopolitical issues, this is also a very important opportunity for some summitry
06:52on the sidelines, be it the meetings whether it's the context of India-Russia, whether it's the context of India
06:58-China, whether it's the context of India-Aran, so these multilateral summits, they obviously provide a very important opportunity for
07:05that and that is
07:06this is also part of you know the messaging, especially in the context of India-China and India-Russia, this
07:12is going to be very important, so what happens on the sidelines also.
07:15Talking about the other waring faction, Russia and Ukraine, what do you think the message he would be carrying for
07:23the world?
07:23I think obviously very firm, I think in terms of projecting the Russian point, obviously he's got to be firm,
07:33but again I don't think that that will really be an important issue, but I don't think that will overshadow
07:41the whole, you know, it will be an important issue and as I said that could be within the organization,
07:48so Russia and China will take a different position, as far as that includes obviously Russia, Ukraine.
07:53issue also, where they differ from the West, other countries may take a more nuanced positioning, but Russia will also
08:00try to pitch, Russia has also been very proactive in pitching to the trade in local currencies and many such
08:09initiatives because, you know, because here we need to look at, even when we talk about the trade in local
08:13currencies, for some countries it is very important because to circumvent the sanctions which have been imposed.
08:19So I think the real, the top issue is going to be what happened in West Asia, then how do,
08:26you know, the global economic architecture, can the summit actually, sorry, come up with some alternatives to the current global
08:32economic architecture, there has been some talk about linking up, you know, the RBI has been pushing for initiatives whereby,
08:41but India has also stopped short of, you know, it has clearly distanced itself from a common currency.
08:48Right. And even a BRICS payment entity.
08:50But China and Russia are favouring detolarization.
08:54Right.
08:54India is spreading cautious detolarization.
08:56Yes, yes, yes.
08:57What is there exactly for India in this scenario, you know, can't ride in both approaches?
09:02There are two approaches.
09:03There are two.
09:04One is the geopolitical dimension of, you know, Russia and China for very long have been saying that the US
09:10has been weaponizing the dollar.
09:12Other countries want to obviously look at circumventing the sanctions and they also want to reduce the dependence upon the
09:17dollar for economic reasons, especially during periods of geopolitical turmoil.
09:22So that the ultimate net result is obviously trade in local currencies.
09:27Now there can be differences over the mechanisms which are used, but here I might add that virtually all members
09:33of BRICS have understood that the idea of a BRICS common currency is not possible.
09:38Right.
09:39Because, you know, first of all, this is not that cohesive an organization, but even in more cohesive organization, this
09:46has not been possible.
09:47So methods via which you can have trade in local currencies.
09:50But there again, India has also been cautious.
09:52If you look at there was recently this proposal about linking Alibaba also with India's.
09:58Right.
09:58So India has rejected that.
09:59So even the trade in local currencies is good.
10:02So I think a lot of countries are going to trade very cautiously on that.
10:05And here we cannot ignore also, again, as you mentioned earlier, about the tax from the US with regard to
10:12imposition of sanctions.

10:16So, you know, that is going to be a very important factor.
