00:00Warren Sapp here.
00:01I got to ask you about Aaron Donald coming back.
00:03What do you think his biggest challenge is going to be?
00:06He didn't make the trip to Australia tonight.
00:08What do you think his biggest challenge is going to be being out of the game
00:12for a while and then getting back into the game?
00:15The game.
00:17Nothing prepares you for NFL trenches, but NFL trenches.
00:21I was very fortunate to have 10 sacks as a 34-year-old,
00:24but the year before I had, you know, did my rotator cuff
00:27and had missed 10 games.
00:28So I had a whole 10 games and a whole sum of the steam around it
00:33and to go work about it and then go to training camp
00:35and do something about it.
00:37He hadn't done that yet.
00:39I don't even know how many practices he's been in.
00:45Warren, as you get older as a player,
00:47what was the biggest challenge for you to stay in the game?
00:50I mean, I saw you with the Raiders.
00:52I was working the pre- and post-game show back in the day back then,
00:55and you were just so awesome both on both sides of the ball
00:58when it came to being able to be a run defender
01:01and also to be a pass rusher.
01:03What was the biggest challenge for you?
01:06Being me.
01:07You know, when you go seven straight Pro Bowls
01:10and defensive player of the year, world champion,
01:13there's a standard by which you play the game.
01:15And that was the thing that now I was trying to teach
01:18with Derrick Burgess beside me,
01:20took Chris Clemens, took Tommy, you know,
01:23young fellow that was coming up, Big Tommy.
01:25So Big Tommy Kelly.
01:27So I had gone from the lead dog
01:30and Burgess became the lead dog
01:31because he was just that good.
01:33I mean, he was a monster.
01:36So I let him lead it and I'll go behind him
01:39and then I was teaching and teaching Tommy
01:40how to do the protections and the different stuff.
01:42I had become a mentor at that point.
01:44And when you're a mentor,
01:45you definitely can't go out there
01:47and let your game slag.
01:48You just got to go out there
01:49and give everything you got.
01:50I mean, I wasn't 27.
01:51I wasn't 28 anymore.
01:53I was 34, 35.
01:55It was going to be a limit
01:57to how many snaps I was playing.
