00:00So Sam Darnold only played five snaps out of respect to Jaden.
00:05No, actually, Jaden Daniels is probably mad at him.
00:07But he suffered a hip injury on Seattle's opening possession.
00:12He did walk off, and it looked like he was going to be okay,
00:15but then he had a severe limp going to the locker room.
00:18He never returned.
00:19We don't know, obviously, if we get anything as we're recording this show,
00:22we'll let you know.
00:23But as of now, it is a hip injury.
00:25That is not a good sign.
00:27But Drew Law came in and filled in for him.
00:30But how concerned are you guys?
00:32I'll start with you first, Josh.
00:34How concerned are you about Sam Darnold's injury
00:37before we kind of know the full picture here?
00:40Oh, well, you definitely have to be concerned.
00:42Now, Adam Schefter did literally just a moment ago just tweet out
00:46that the Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald said that they got great news back
00:51on the fact that they believe that Sam Darnold's hip is –
00:55do not believe that his hip is fractured.
00:58Oh, good.
00:58So that was their original thought,
01:00but they were going to be doing an MRI tomorrow to get more details,
01:03so we'll have to wait and see on that.
01:04But at least, hey, if it was fractured, we know he's gone a long time.
01:10So that's the most optimistic thing that they could have right now.
01:13But here's the thing, JSN can only do so much when he doesn't have anyone
01:22throwing him the ball.
01:24And to John's point that he said a few minutes ago,
01:28obviously the Patriots weren't preparing for Drew Locke.
01:31Their opponents next week and the week after will be.
01:34So it's going to be really tough on this offense.
01:38It's going to put a whole lot more pressure on Jadarian Price,
01:42who had a decent debut, nothing extravagant, but held his own.
01:48But it's going to be the type of thing where you really have to get creative
01:53or really, really rely on your defense for not just stopping your opponents,
01:59but for them to actually try to put up points.
02:01And that's when you really, like, Rashid Shaheed will have to come in
02:05on the kick and punt returns.
02:07And it's going to be tough for sure for Seattle,
02:11especially over their next couple weeks.
02:13I'll take a look as far as who their next couple opponents are.
02:17They come out of this.
02:17Now, granted, they get kind of a freebie because next week they're at Arizona.
02:23So they get a little time for that.
02:25And then at Washington and then the Chargers and Niners.
02:27That's Sean's team.
02:28You better watch out saying that.
02:30Arizona Cardinals?
02:32He likes.
02:32He's higher on the Cardinals than most.
02:34Well, someone's got to love Jeremiah Love, but I guess that's it.
02:38I do.
02:39Look.
02:40Go ahead, John.
02:40Now, with Drew Locke, that game's not a layup.
02:44I agree.
02:45With Sam Donald, that game was a layup.
02:47With Drew Locke, that game's a toss-up.
02:4916 of 22, 187 yards, one touchdown, John.
02:53Not good enough for you?
02:55Check, please.
02:57Check down.
02:58Check down.
02:59Yeah, but okay.
02:59But all right.
03:00So he did that.
03:01He won the game and he did exactly what they needed him to do.
03:04So.
03:05Again.
03:05Again.
03:06He won the game.
03:07Yeah.
03:08He almost also lost the game.
03:11The other guy that occupies his position on the other team threw it away.
03:16So sometimes when guys win these games, they win these games only because they didn't lose
03:22them.
03:22If you understand what I'm saying.
03:24Drake May lost this game.
03:26Drew Locke won this game because Drake May threw it away.
03:30The Patriots had the game in their hands.
03:32That final drive.
03:33I thought this was going to be one of those things where Drake May looks special at the
03:39end because regardless of what went wrong up until that point, he was still able to drive
03:45his team on multiple fourth down possessions or multiple third down possessions to win the game.
03:52They never went.
03:54They never settled for a field goal.
03:56Mike Vrabel trusted him to do the right thing with the ball.
03:59He's got a Super Bowl quarterback on his hands.
04:02Trusted him to make the right decision on the final drive.
04:05And it looked as if he was making the right decision at every turn.
04:09He wasn't throwing balls up for grabs and they were just falling on the last drive.
04:13He used his legs.
04:14He used his arms.
04:15He threw some check downs.
04:16But at the end of the day, he drove them down the field.
04:20He manufactured the drive.
04:21He just threw it away.
04:22And my question to Josh at this point is, if I just had a fantasy draft and I took A
04:28.J.
04:28Brown and Sam Dunn on the same team, how much trouble am I in?
04:32Oh, you're in a lot of trouble.
04:33You're absolutely in a lot of trouble if you're starting quarterback with Sam Darnold
04:38and your wide receiver one is A.J. Brown.
04:41Obviously, we still need an update as far as A.J. Brown's injury.
04:45But this goes to show why playing at least some preseason matters.
04:54Because Drew Locke played six drives during the Seahawks preseason.
05:00And it took him until really the second half of this game to get into flow
05:05and had that great pass to Cooper Cup and JSN.
05:08Drake May did not take a single snap into preseason.
05:11And when we went to the end of this game with that last interception,
05:18that is classic.
05:19We see something like this almost every year as the blueprint game film of,
05:26that's a rookie mistake.
