00:09Thirteen years after the original Telltale game dropped,
00:12I went hands-on with its updated version at Gamescom 2026.
00:16Immediately, I was charmed by protagonist Bigby,
00:19an outwardly rugged hero with an apparent soft side beneath the surface.
00:24As the Sheriff of Fable Town, a real-world location made up of fairy tale characters,
00:29we're tasked with controlling him in an encounter with the Woodsman,
00:33which plays out in part based on our choices.
00:36You can play the diplomat, or take the violent approach.
00:39I'm immediately struck by how detailed everything looks.
00:43Back in the Xbox 360 era, I adored the aesthetic of the original game,
00:48and I almost didn't notice how the glow-up of Remastered had been achieved,
00:52because it so accurately captures what I thought was there once upon a time.
00:56Notable new features include a noir mode camera filter,
00:59and the addition of previously cut content, which is a must for returning veterans.
01:04I won't go into the story any further to spare newcomers from spoilers,
01:08but the events of Bigby's Night remind me how dark a world Fable Town can be,
01:13and what it takes to survive for these magical entities that must play by the rules of humankind.
