00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at some of the best games that make us feel
00:13like we're playing through a movie. When it comes to sci-fi sagas with blockbuster visuals and
00:36storytelling, Warframe is second to none. This popular free-to-play looter shooter with a community
00:41of more than 85 million players is renowned for its fast-paced acrobatic combat that has your
00:46Warframe gracefully soaring through the air, guns blazing like a John Woo bullet ballet. There are
00:51plenty of powers to unleash and stunning worlds to discover. However, for many, it's the game's
00:56gripping narrative that keeps them coming back for more, which has been expanded on through multiple
01:00story-driven updates. It's full of large-scale space battles, tragic and complex characters,
01:06and jaw-dropping plot twists backed by a soundtrack that seamlessly blends operatic ballads with
01:11sea shanties and 90s pop. Warframe is an epic emotional space opera that continues to keep
01:22fans on the edge of their seats. If that's not enough, the game's opening cinematic is a must-watch,
01:26action-packed short film in its own right, and directed by none other than Hollywood filmmaker
01:31Dan Trachtenberg of Predator Badlands. Ready to join the adventure? The next chapter of Warframe begins
01:36in its new cinematic update, The Old Piece, launching this December. You can sign up and download Warframe
01:42for free today on all platforms, PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and iOS, with Android coming soon

02:02Number 10. L.A. Noire
02:04All right, but you stay close. Any tricks and I'll save McAfee's boys the trouble.
02:08Follow me! I know another way out of this place.
02:11Any fan of old crime noir flicks would be doing themselves a favor by playing L.A. Noire.
02:15The game perfectly captures the sunny beauty of post-World War II Los Angeles, hiding plenty of
02:20dark secrets underneath. As Detective Cole Phelps, you delve into depraved and dangerous
02:24cases across different boroughs. Every crime, big or small, plays a part in painting the bigger picture.
02:36It wholeheartedly wears its cinematic inspiration on its sleeve too. Music was inspired by films of the
02:411940s, and then groundbreaking motion capture technology made the characters and performances
02:45as real as possible. Whether you're piecing together clues at a crime scene, or leading a
02:50tense interrogation of a suspect, L.A. Noire keeps you gripped until the very end.
02:54I'm charging you with the first degree murder of Everett Gage.
02:57I respect your beliefs and your right to hold them. I hope for your sake,
03:02the jury can commute to murder in the second degree.
03:04Number 9. Until Dawn
03:12In hindsight, an interactive horror game pulling elements from differed some genres was a fantastic
03:17idea. Until Dawn follows a group of friends reconnecting after a tragedy, only for them to
03:21be trapped in a ski lodge during a nasty blizzard. What waits for them in the dark? That's up to you to
03:26find out. By exploring and collecting clues, you begin to piece together the truth of what's really going
03:31on. But by doing so, you're also lured closer to the threat of grisly death.
03:42The game heightens classic elements of scary movies by letting you experience them firsthand.
03:46Budding romance in the face of despair, the dangers of going off alone, and deadly figures stalking you
03:50from the shadows.
03:57Number 8. Final Fantasy XVI
04:10Final Fantasy as a whole is known for grand stories on an epic scale. But the entry that feels the most
04:15cinematic is Final Fantasy XVI. With a great evolution of exciting battles and riveting bosses,
04:20many huge in scope, the camera work captures every bit of magic and peril.
04:33The visuals are truly remarkable, leaving you in awe as only the most breathtaking blockbusters can.
04:39More than anything though, what makes it feel like a cinematic masterpiece is the story. The political
04:43intrigue, full of backstabs, conspiracy, and warfare will have you engrossed throughout every story
04:48beat. And it's all elevated by some truly impeccable performances, particularly Ben Starr as protagonist
04:54Clive Rossfield.
04:55That's why I became his shield! To help bear the weight! But what did you do? You betrayed your own
05:02blood and surrendered your son to his fate!
05:07Number 7. Ghost of Tsushima
05:08We are 80s samurai against an army fighting to slow the invasion. Today, I die for my people.
05:21Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best pieces of historical fiction we've ever had the
05:25pleasure of experiencing. As Jin Sakai, defending and reclaiming our home of Tsushima from a Mongol
05:30invasion was often enthralling, thrilling, and heartbreaking. Both Jin's central story and those
05:35of his deep companions harken back to classic samurai films. Along with dynamic camera movement,
05:40vicious fights, and stunning vistas, it is an excellent successor to the genre.
05:51It especially feels like you're playing through a modern Akira Kurosawa film. In fact,
05:55the developers even included a Kurosawa mode to pay tribute to the filmmaker. Regardless of how you
05:59choose to play, Ghost of Tsushima takes you on a wonderful, film-inspired journey.
06:09Number 6. Death Stranding series
06:24Hideo Kojima has never shied away from his love of film, often injecting those influences into the
06:29Metal Gear Solid series. But with Death Stranding and its sequel, the auteur went even further.
06:34The first game follows Sam Porter Bridges as he repairs the links of humanity following a
06:38catastrophic world event. The storytelling, world-building, and performances will make it
06:42narratively rich.
06:43The second game features some of the most impressive visuals we've ever seen in a game.
06:58The world design is jaw-dropping in its beauty and instability that comes from various natural
07:03disasters. And the motion capture is so incredible, you'll forget you're not actually looking at
07:08Norman Reedus, or one of the many other big names that make up its cast.
07:17Don't you break my game.
07:18There are a lot of elements that made Claire Obscure a breakout hit of 2025. As far as cinematic details
07:36are concerned, it overflowed with captivating characters, richly detailed lore, and level
07:41design that left us enchanted. On a mission to stop a mystical paintress with the ability to wipe out
07:46everyone of the age she annually projects into the sky, there's an immediate sense of urgency.
08:05Each of your party members has a beautifully tragic backstory that bleeds into their motivations,
08:09displayed through wonderful performances and riveting cutscenes. Even during the turn-based
08:14battles, the camera flows with each party member's movements, dancing alongside them.
08:18Every environment is also impressively constructed, beckoning you to stop and soak in its personality.
08:23Number 4. The Last of Us Series
08:3520 years after the collapse of civilization, the final remnants of humanity struggle to survive among the
08:47infected, mutated by the Cordyceps fungus. Every encounter with these horrific enemies and the humans
08:52who fight against any outsiders is accompanied by tense camera work and lighting, heart-pounding music,
08:57and pristine sound design that would feel at home in the most prestigious of horror classics.
09:02Additionally, it has some of the most respected performances of any video game.
09:06You're right. You're not my daughter.
09:13And I sure as hell ain't your dad.
09:15Ashley Johnson, Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, and many others have been lauded for their work,
09:20and rightfully so. Along with the visual wizardry and strong character writing of Naughty Dog,
09:25these performers shine throughout, lifting our hearts in one scene and shattering them in another.
09:39Number 3. Uncharted Series
09:40Before The Last of Us, Naughty Dog led the charge for more cinematic games with Uncharted.
09:53The exploits of Nathan Drake and his compatriots astounded us all, taking us to faraway lands to
09:58track the tallest of tales and the most enticing of treasures. Anyone interested in a sense of
10:02discovery can find entertainment here. Extraordinary locales, dastardly villains, engaging historical
10:08mysteries, each story pulls you along at a brisk, exciting pace.
10:22Of course, the camera work and explosiveness of the franchise's set pieces, which grew bigger and
10:27bolder and more magnificent with each entry, are as grand as anything the history of cinema can offer.
10:32That's not to mention the devil-may-care hero at the center of it all, Nolan North's endlessly lovable Nate.
10:38Number 2. Red Dead Redemption Series
10:48You always did think I was an idiot.
10:51That ain't fair, Bill. You were as my brother. I've come to try to save you.
10:57The Red Dead Redemption series has all the trappings of the spaghetti western built into its DNA.
11:01As either John Marston or Arthur Morgan, you're given the tools to live out a life on the American
11:06frontier with all the dangers that come with it. Both games feature some of the most compelling
11:10narratives in video game history, anchored by treacherous antagonists, nail-biting shootouts,
11:15and actors who have sunk so deeply into their roles they feel real.
11:18It's easy to get lost in these games. So well-crafted are their worlds with such a strong sense of place.
11:35Red Dead Redemption and its prequel offer something truly special while delivering stirring stories of
11:40greed, revenge, and the American dream.

12:05Number 1. God of War Series
12:14Even before modern games dug deeper into more cinematic territory,
12:18God of War offered an engrossing revenge tale with tragic figures and awe-inspiring set pieces.
12:23Plus, there were plenty of betrayals and brutality to keep players coming back for more.
12:28As the series has moved from Greek to Norse mythology, the cinematic qualities have only
12:32grown more prevalent.
12:41The decision to never cut, whether during gameplay or cutscenes, gave it a documentary-style closeness
12:47that kept us with the action, while still including the necessary flair for every gripping boss fight
12:51and every brutal finisher. The story also got more personal, the performances more layered,
12:56and the scale more majestic. The blend of engaging combat with this cinematic polish
13:01has been a joy to watch evolve.
13:08Are you a film buff looking for an interactive experience that can deliver the same level of
13:12quality? These games are more than enough to scratch that itch. But if a grand sci-fi adventure
13:17that you can experience with friends is what you're looking for, Warframe's next big update, The Old
13:22Piece launches this December. You can check out Warframe for free on PC, Xbox, PlayStation,
