00:00What we see as poverty is not true poverty from a spiritual perspective.
00:10Poverty is not the lack of finances or resources.
00:17True poverty is when you are purposeless, not penniless.
00:30Hello, everyone. My name is Akram Anusisya. I'm connected from Marav.
00:35I want to ask, does someone's background, someone is raised in a poor family and another person was raised in
00:45a rich family.
00:47And now they have reached a point where they want to get married.
00:52Like in my case, I was raised in a poor family. I approached a girl who was raised in a
00:59rich family.
01:00Now I'm asking to say, is it right for these two people who have different backgrounds to get married?
01:08Thank you so much, Chris.
01:09First and foremost, I think it's important to say this.
01:15What we see as poverty is not true poverty from a spiritual perspective.
01:25Poverty is not the lack of finances or resources.
01:32True poverty is when you are purposeless, not penniless.
01:38Even when I talk about responsibility today, being responsible, and that includes financially,
01:45we are not here to talk about amounts.
01:48We are talking about how you manage it.
01:51You could have little and manage it responsibly.
01:55And you can be ready for marriage.
01:57You could have a lot and you are irresponsible with it.
02:02So let's not focus too much on amounts.
02:06In this world, of course, we know when you talk about getting married, there's a need for finances.
02:13We are not being naive to that reality.
02:16But responsibility is not about amounts.
02:20If you have little and you are responsible, it will grow.
02:23It will become more.
02:25So you are asking a situation whereby you are from a poor background.
02:29You approach someone from a rich background.
02:32Spiritually, the material difference is not an issue.
02:38From the perspective of certain family members, they may make it an issue.
02:43Oh, is this person coming because they want to get finances, resources from our sister, our daughter?
02:52Man can always misinterpret motives.
02:55But if you follow the right process, and both of you are believers,
03:00and God puts it in your hearts to marry someone, not because of money, but because of destiny, because of
03:06purpose,
03:08then the financial difference is not an issue spiritually.
03:12That would be my encouragement to you, brother.
03:16When we are Christians, I believe the foundation of understanding marriage is not a material one.
03:25The money is a secondary issue.
03:28Character, calling, covenant is the primary issue.
03:32So if you have focused on the right thing, and your motives are clean,
03:38you are not intending to marry someone because, oh, I want to get their money.
03:43I want to make money.
03:44That is not a godly reason for marriage.
03:47But if the marriage is from a godly foundation, and the Spirit of God puts it in your heart,
03:51I would encourage you, there's nothing wrong with that.
03:54And if the family members are Christians, I believe they too will come to that understanding.
03:58As I said, there are always people who will misinterpret motives.
04:03There are always people who will make assumptions or judgments.
04:07That's why we don't live to please people.
04:10We don't live to fulfill expectations on us.
04:14People's expectations can easily be unrealistic or not be rooted in truth.
04:20So personally, you are getting married.
04:23You are not marrying the mother or father.
04:25You are marrying the lady.
04:26You follow the right process.
04:29The key thing here is not about something on the outside.
04:33It's something on the inside.
04:35It's the society that places value on, oh, this person has riches.
04:39Oh, this person is this age.
04:41This person is, that is a material outlook.
04:44Spiritually, it's heart agreements.
04:47Heart agreements is not based on money.
04:49Heart agreements is not based on age.
04:51Heart agreements is not based on status.
04:53Heart agreements is based on submission to God.
04:57We give our hearts to God and he gives the hearts of the husband, the wife to each other.
05:07That's the spiritual principle.
05:09So in answer, brother, the short answer is no.
05:12There is nothing wrong with someone from a financially lower background, marrying someone from a financially higher background.
05:19There's nothing wrong whatsoever so far as you follow the right process.
05:28If perhaps the age is increasing and you're not yet married, if you are called to singlehood, it will be
05:36accompanied by contentments and action.
05:42What do I mean?
05:43You will be busy with the things of God and content in the things of God.
05:48You will not be lonely and nursing resentments or regrets.
