00:00And if you want to compare and contrast, Monday Q Info, he typed out player A, player B comparisons and
00:06let the people try to decide who is who.
00:09Player A, who was Ryan Gerrard, one win, four runner up, four runner up, I should say, six top fives,
00:1711 top tens, 21 top 25s.
00:20Majors, he played in five of six, didn't play the Open in 2025, but he had two top tens in
00:25those majors.
00:27Recent form, he had five top tens since the majors ended, including a third at the tour championship.
00:32Player B, which was Patrick Cantlay, zero wins in the last four years, only two runner ups, five top fives,
00:4110 top tens, 22 top 25s.
00:43When you look at all those in comparison, they're very, very similar besides the fact that Ryan's won one more
00:48time and that Gerrard has won or had two more runner up finishes.
00:52And then the majors, Cantlay's played in all eight over the last two years, missed four of the eight cups
00:59or cuts, had zero top tens, only one top 25 in recent form.
01:04He had two top tens since the majors ended, including a T21 at the tour championship.
01:10I think that this is a very, very compelling argument of why Cantlay should not have been on the team
01:16and why Ryan Gerrard should have been on the team.
01:18If you're comparing apples and oranges and if it was just a base, a basis off, oh, well, I think
01:24Cantlay will perform better in the President's Cup because of of his record over the last two years.
01:30Well, Gerrard's been better.
01:33It's he's had a better record.
01:34And so that that's the frustrating part as and there's been in it.
01:39I'm not singling out Cantlay because you could do it for a couple other guys, too.
01:43And I'm not even saying that I'm not even saying that that Patrick Cantlay wouldn't overperform relative to a Gerrard
01:51or an.
01:52And that's fair.
01:53And I'm not even saying I'm not saying I want him in the player pool for the Ryder Cup next
01:57year and probably is on the team, especially.
02:00I mean, he had that nice run of form at the end of the season.
02:01For me, it's like you can put Patrick Cantlay in a bunker underground for a year and have him pop
02:08out.
02:08And he's going to play great with Xander Shoffley, any sort of partner format like we already know that.
02:13And I know that and this is where it comes back to a discussion we've had before of like, what
02:17is the President's Cup?
02:18And I know it feels bad for any competition to feel like there is a where there's a developmental aspect.
02:26Teams aren't taking their best players or using it as a stepping stone to another competition.
02:30I think that if I'm the PGA Tour putting this thing on or the competition itself and each of these
02:36teams, I'm embracing that.
02:38Because I'll tell you this, if you took another player who was higher on the points list over Jackson Coivin,
02:44I think the interest in this event would have been a lot less.
02:47I think that there is going to be a ton of eyeballs.
02:50You know, I think the viewership should go up now.
02:52I know there's no way to directly connect that or quantify that in terms of Jackson's approach.
02:56But I think that this is a talking point, the main talking point right now, and one that will extend
03:01through the end of the month and through the competition.
03:03You have this young blood there.
03:04So why not try to do more of it?
03:07I love it.
03:07It generates interest.
03:08So, I mean.
03:09Well, too.
03:09You know, the other thing, Charlie, is on DataGolf, they ranked all the players in the field that are going
03:17to be playing at Medina.
03:18And 10 of the 11 weakest players in that entire field are on the international team.
03:27So, and I know DataGolf doesn't determine who wins the President's Cup, but it's definitely an indication of how strong
03:36the Americans are in comparison with just basic stats and data.
03:40Now, they've been dominant in the President's Cup.
03:44They seem to play more free.
03:45They have more fun.
03:46And they really, I mean, I guess when you go back to Montreal, like, you're like, oh, my God, this
03:52is going to be another snoozer.
03:53I mean, I think they skunked them in the morning or the first day in America's 4-0.
03:58But then the next day, they came back, or I think it was 5-0.
04:02And then the next day, it was like 5-5.
04:04It was like, all right, game on.
04:05It's like, maybe they can play.
04:07And they're very top heavy.
04:09All these other guys have question marks around them.
04:12I am excited about some of the guys on the international team.
04:15I know we'll go a little deeper on it.
04:17But on this American team, they're going to have some very, very strong pairings.
04:22Like, when you're putting five pairings out Thursday and Friday, and then Saturday is also going to be, I think
04:29they go 4-4 on Saturday.
04:31And then Sunday is just straight singles.
04:33They're going to be really strong those first three days.
04:36And then when you get to singles, that's no easy task either.
04:39So, you know what?
