00:00Our response is three-pronged.
00:03First, we are matching the new U.S. tariffs dollar for dollar with new tariffs of our own.
00:10Now, I don't believe in escalating the conflict. That's not constructive.
00:14But our tariffs are necessary to protect our workers, protect our companies, and our communities.
00:21We can't let American goods into Canada tariff-free while they charge our companies to export them.
00:28Second, we're supporting Canadians, because up here, we take care of each other.
00:34The harsh reality is that the American tariffs will hurt some Canadians more than others, and that was by design.
00:42So we're putting real support behind the businesses and people caught in the middle of this fight, a fight they
00:49didn't start.
00:50We will do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to bridge those people to a better future.
00:58We're starting with $7.5 billion in new help.
01:03That will mean fast access to capital for small businesses, income support and retraining for those workers who need it,
01:11targeted help for those sectors hardest hit.
01:15Autos, forestry, steel, aluminum.
01:18And this is on top of nearly $25 billion already delivered since the start of this trade war.
01:26That's what we do in this country.
01:28We stand up for each other when times get hard.
01:31Now, this won't be easy, and I won't pretend otherwise.
01:37But Canadians have faced difficult stretches before, and what's carried us through has never, ever been just enough.
02:01To be part of the country, we Brazil, let's say the same thing.
02:01We're the same thing as we're making.
02:01I'm just waiting for a couple of people who haven't seen it anyway.
