During an interview, the developers discuss the importance of small details, like saliva animation, in maintaining player immersion and preventing the experience from feeling like just a video game.
Transcript
00:00I was really moved by the saliva drips in the alien's mouth upon playing the demo.
00:08How detailed did you know you wanted the alien to be and how hard is it to animate the saliva?
00:16Well, you ask the perfect person. I have actually made this particle system myself.
00:23It's all about the attention to detail, I think, for us.
00:26And it's something that the team takes just incredibly seriously from every angle.
00:32It has to be perfect. It's all about not breaking the immersion.
00:36At no point we want players to realize, oh yes, this is a video game.
00:40You know, I can see a sprite or I can see a texture clipping or anything like that.
00:45It's really all about making sure that it looks and feels as a part of the world.
