"Land der dunklen Wälder," also known as "Ostpreußenlied, is the regional anthem of the East Prussian region of the German Reich until the region's cessation in 1945. The song still serves as a collective memory of East Prussia, honoring the lost homeland of displaced East Prussians and their descendants. The lyricist is Erich Hannighofer from Königsberg. The composer is Herbert Brust (1900–1968) from Königsberg.
