01:37It was anything but boring this morning, though.
01:39It was a really busy session,
01:41and one in which, obviously, Charles came out on top.
01:43How encouraged will Ferrari be with his pace?
01:46Well, I mean, he came out on top in terms of lap times,
01:48but he ended in the pit lane without drive in his power unit.
01:52We still don't really know exactly why.
01:54I think it was some kind of gearbox issue.
01:56I showed it on the SkyPad post-session,
01:58but you can see here rolling to a standstill.
02:01And let's have a listen again out of turn 12.
02:08So it's from that moment there
02:09he's just got a gearbox full of neutrals.
02:12He cannot select gear
02:13and just coasts his way into the pits.
02:15He manually shuts the engine down
02:17and then the team of mechanics come around him
02:19to push the car back.
02:20So, yes, he was fastest and the car looks great,
02:23but first, you need to finish.

02:28about being a quick fix.

03:11that this huge raft of changes,
03:1416 upgrades on the car,
03:16would bring them that performance
03:18they've been longing for all season.
03:19And then this, Anthony.

03:23Nobody wants to see,
03:25effectively, a brand new part of the car
03:28that's been worked on failing in some way.
03:30We're still unsure of exactly what happened,
03:32but it looked very bizarre.
03:34Swing to many people in the paddock
03:35and we all agree that it's just...
03:37We're not used to seeing a car fail in that way.
03:40I first thought it could have been the wheel
03:42just not gone on properly.
03:44That would have been the best-case scenario,
03:45but it wasn't that, by all accounts.
03:47It was actually a suspension that broke.
03:49Whether it was a brand new component or an old component,
03:52we still don't know 100%.
03:54The fact they sent Fernando immediately out there,
03:57though, for me,
03:58seems like they're aware of the situation.
04:01They're confident that it shouldn't be a problem going forward.
04:04Otherwise, you would have been in lockdown
04:06and stopped both cars going out on track
04:08if you thought it could be a critical design fault
04:11within your suspension.
04:12OK, well, Adrian Newey spoke a little earlier
04:14in the team principal's press conference.

04:54and also admitting, secondly,
04:56that they don't know what caused it.
04:57Now, a third thing to point out,
04:59he also confirmed that the piece affected
05:03was not an upgraded part.
05:06Now, he said there have been upgraded parts
05:08around the suspension failure,
05:10which they might struggle to replace
05:12given that spares are on the short supply,
05:14given that it's an upgrade.
05:17But the actual bit that they think failed
05:19was not a new part.

05:22because if it was just something
05:24that was maybe over mileage
05:25or something that they can identify,
05:27then they can put that down,

05:50everything around the rear axles
05:52and the rear hubs
05:53to understand exactly what failed.
05:55Now, point one,
05:57this car is not going anywhere
05:58in free practice, too.
05:59Point two, they seem happy.
06:01And we can see across the garage
06:03to Fernando Alonso's car,
06:04they seem happy
06:05with Alonso's rear suspension.
06:07And they seem happy,
06:08as you can hear the Honda engine
06:09revving in the background,
06:10to send him out.
06:11But just to recap

06:15this is the last thing
06:16that Aston Martin wanted.
