00:11The Northeast District Zone 1 operations officer, Rosli Ibrahim, said no casualties were reported.
00:18He said the Penang Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 1.08 a.m.,
00:24with firefighters arriving at the scene about two minutes later.
00:27He said the fire involved five premises, including a car workshop, a welding shop and a timber factory.
00:35Firefighting operations were still ongoing as of 3 a.m., but the blaze has since been brought under control.
00:42Rosli said the swift action of firefighters helped save a nearby petrol station
00:47and prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding residential areas.
00:52The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still under investigation.
