00:00A mattress factory and a recycling plant in Kampung Toksani, Butterworth, were destroyed in a fire on Saturday night.

00:08Pining Fire and Rescue Department Director Mohamed Shoki Hamza said they received an emergency call at 10.01 p.m.

00:16with the first fire engine from the Butterworth station arriving 12 minutes later.

00:21Firefighters from nearby stations and local volunteer teams also responded to the scene.

00:27Upon arrival, both adjacent factories spanning approximately 11,900 square feet were already engulfed in flames.

00:36By the time the first team arrived, about 60% of the mattress factory and 70% of the recycling plant had been destroyed.

00:44The blaze was brought under control by 10.51 p.m., preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.

00:51No casualties were reported.

00:52The mattress factory was also believed to have stored chemicals on site.

00:57The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
