Aryna Sabalenka fires back at reporter for asking question

Aryna Sabalenka made it clear she wasn’t amused when a reporter brought up partying and off-court activities during the U.S. Open.

The World No. 1 had just secured a straight-sets win over Polina Iatcenko to reach the third round when a question about her busy schedule of brand events appeared to shift the conversation away from tennis.

Sabalenka quickly pushed back, asking, “You guys are, like, a joke. Parties, fun, like, why would you even say that?” She continued, “Why would you even think about that? What kind of question is that?”

Defending her preparation, she added, “Just because I posted, like, some activities with brands, and you think that I’ve been partying, not training?”

When the reporter attempted to clarify the question, Sabalenka responded sarcastically: “Oh yeah, I wasn’t serious before that,” before adding, “Next question. Think before you say stuff.”

The 28-year-old is chasing a third straight U.S. Open title and has remained dominant early in the tournament, winning both opening matches without dropping a set.
