00:00Riddle me this, okay?
00:03What do Nick Bosa, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Mike Evans, Brock Purdy, Trent Williams, Fred Warner, Kyle Juszczyk, Debo Samuel,
00:13and Dajon Stribling all have in common?
00:16They play for the 49ers.
00:17That's a good answer.
00:19Boosh.
00:19That's not the number one answer on my board.
00:21Oh, okay.
00:21It is a answer.
00:23Any other guesses?
00:25They all are going to be on a plane at some point later today.
00:29You're getting closer.
00:30That is also an accurate answer.
00:33Tweak that a little bit.
00:35None of them are on the injury list?
00:37You're close enough.
00:39They are all.
00:40I just keep trying.
00:41They are all.
00:42You want to try again?
00:44Super Bowl or try again?
00:45Try again.
00:46I'm looking for a three-word phrase.
00:50They're not hurt.
00:52Close enough.
00:53They're not injured.
00:54Expected to play.
00:55Okay.
00:56What are we doing?
00:58No, I just wanted that to sink in.
01:00I wanted that to sink in, especially for our new rivals, the morning show.
01:06But I was told that we should all be doing the chicken little.
01:09The whole team's hurt.
01:11Yeah.
01:12The whole team's hurt.
01:13Season from hell.
01:15Everybody is.
01:16Here we go again with the substation.
01:18Man.
01:18The Niners are hurt again, top to bottom.
01:23Nick Bosa, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Mike Evans, Brock Purdy, Trent Williams, Fred Warner, Kyle Juszczyk, Debo Samuel, Dajon Stribling,
01:37dot, dot, dot, expected to play.
01:40Week one.
01:43Week one.
01:44Halfway across the world.
01:46Some of them coming off of major injury.
01:50George Kittle is on the plane tonight.
01:52The plane leaves in five hours.
01:54He's on it.
01:56He's on it.
01:57Not yet.
01:58I mean, something could crop up.
01:59Sure.
01:59Sure.
02:00There could be not a setback, but a step back, as Kyle famously said and didn't remember.
02:05So, yeah, they're going to be on the plane, and they're not injured.
02:09They're expected to play, which is why they're all going to fly down there and spend the better part of
02:14a day and a half in the air.
02:16And when they land, yeah, they're going to go ahead and get ready to play a football game.
02:20It's what they do.
02:22Look, we're going to hear from Nick Bosa here in just a second.
02:26This one, I think, is a little bit more interesting just because it kind of came down to the wire,
02:32which is wild.
02:33The idea that George Kittle was more on this plane than Nick Bosa is kind of wild, but I just
02:40love seeing this because the optimism that I have felt recently with regard to where the Niners were health-wise
02:49was all based not on fact that they were definitely going to play, but you could sort of see the
02:55path.
02:56You could see where the Niners were the last few weeks.
02:59I have believed all along that a lot of the veteran stuff was load management.
03:05I have believed that.
03:07And we get to now, and you're right.
03:10They're not in yet.
03:11I don't know for sure that these guys are going to play, but I know I got scoffed at two
03:18days ago when I said I love where the 49ers are health-wise.
03:21Do you know how many starters didn't have full practice today on the entire team?
03:26Uh, full practice among starters, I would guess probably one?
03:31Mike Evans?
03:32Renardo Green.
03:33No, Mike Evans, full participant.
03:36And how'd that go?
03:37I don't know.
03:38How's the hand?
03:39How's the quad?
03:40How's the adductor?
03:40He's on IR, but no.
03:42You know what I mean?
03:43Like, I just, um, and I don't want to fight this fight anymore.
03:47It's not a fight.
03:48It's not a fight, but I really do.
03:51You already gave them the L.
03:52Well, I, I, it's, this is what I'm getting at.
03:55I really feel like social media took the Niners and their fans on a damn ride this summer.
04:02It got taken on a ride.
04:04We all did.
04:05And it, and I just, it sucks.
04:08It completely sucks.
04:09It's completely a faction of, of like a gravy train.
04:14Do you know what I mean?
04:15I mean, I got a buddy who made t-shirts of Jed York's, uh, mugshot for his fantasy drop.
04:22Those are everywhere.
04:23Of course.
04:24And, you know, you're six.
04:26I mean, you know, you named your team after it.
04:29Maybe.
04:30So like, okay.
04:31Ohio sting operation for those of you scoring home.
04:34I'm here for the fun.
04:35If you all want to have fun at other people's expense, that's fine.
04:38But this idea that something went categorically and just waywardly wrong all off season with
04:46this team, I've never really bought it.
04:49And, and to me, that's what is really at issue here.
04:52It's not the Niners and it's not their fans.
04:55It's that social media found a number of, of ways and opportunities to lie to people for
05:04clicks at, at the Niners and at the fans expense.
05:08Brandon Ayuk is dancing on Instagram again an hour ago.
05:11Who cares?
05:12They're not lies.
05:13They are narratives.
05:14And most of them, I think when it comes to actual football are false narratives.
05:18And you could look at the Ayuk Instagram stuff.
05:22And does that affect how the other players will play?
05:25No.
05:26And Kyle Shanahan and an 11 day gap between the crash and the revelation of what actually
05:32happened, does that affect the team?
05:33No, not if he's healthy.
05:35And it seems like he's healthy and the Jed York and you said, I'm making fun of him at
05:40his expense.
05:41Well, yeah, the expense was $160 and it was a victimless crime.
05:45So I feel good about it because it's not like there was a person on the other end.
05:50And then you, you skip ahead to Dajon Love and the fact that he chose the Niners does not
05:56mean that if you're a Niner, like Dajon Stripling said, yeah, I'm going to wear number
06:01seven, which is the number that he wore and all the rest of it.
06:05So you talk about the narratives that are out there of them being more injured than others
06:09and the substation.
06:10You can throw that in there.
06:11All of that put aside when they fly to Australia and get ready to play football.
06:16None of that matters.
06:17No judgment, by the way.
06:18You don't want to have fun at Jed York's expense.
06:21He, he paid 160 bucks for it.
06:24He bought that.
06:25Like that's, he actually didn't spend it.
06:27No, he got confiscated and he got it back.
06:29Oh, he did?
06:30Yeah.
06:31There was never a transaction.
06:32Do you know that he got it back?
06:33Yes.
06:34It was part of the, uh, it's part of what was revealed because he got busted with the
06:38money in the pocket.
06:39No, no, I get all that.
06:40I just didn't know.
06:41I never saw the part of the story of what was in the bag that he got back when he
06:44got
06:44released.
06:44Right.
06:45You get the money back.
06:46Okay.
06:46And that's good.
06:47Well, and that's where they're like, let me see your phone.
06:49Yep.
06:50That checks out.
06:51And let me see what you have in your pocket.
06:52Oh, wow.
06:53Imagine that you've got a buck 60 in your pocket.
06:55So it becomes things that you get back.
06:58I've never been arrested, but what I've learned is that when you get arrested, whatever you
07:02get busted with other than like illegal drugs, you actually get that stuff back.
07:07Yeah.
07:08I too have never been arrested.
07:09Hoping to keep it that way.
07:10But anyway, I'm glad Jed still got his buck 60.
07:13That's awesome.
07:14It's key.
07:15Um, thank you for, uh, for, for texting in seven Oh seven, uh, social media is doing
07:19the Niners how they do pods.
07:22LOL.
07:22Well, I mean, yeah, this is a little bit harsher than pods, but I get where the texts
07:27are saying about that.
07:29I don't know, but I mean, that's, you know, neither here nor there that that's kind of
07:32my point is, is, is I just think, I think about it this way.
07:37Remember we had Cal Kami on last week and we brought up something that Florio said on
07:42pro football talk, and we couldn't even get through the question because Tim was immediately
07:46like, he's like this Florio is like these guys are very, very good.
07:52Good at creating headlines and different ways to get you, the 49er fan to emotionally react.
08:00And I've said this on this show a number of times, there's a backwards compliment to all
08:05of this.
08:06The social media, the hosts, the people out there that this is the way they go about
08:10their business.
08:11Because they know who one of the biggest, baddest fan bases in America is.
08:15They know.
08:16Did you know that, that Matt Barrows did an entire story today on how the Rams, I didn't
08:21know this.
08:22They've had marketing rights in Australia for five years.
08:25Why?
08:26I have no idea.
08:27I didn't get through that part of the story.
08:28Why do the Rams have Australia as their marketing rights?
08:31However, the studies have been done over who's going to have the quote unquote fan base on
08:38their side in this football game next week.
08:41And I'll give you one guess who it is.
08:43Right.
08:43Because it always is.
08:44It doesn't matter what stadium you go to in America.
08:47There's a massive 49er presence among the fan base.
08:52And I think that people are tapping into that, which is why the substation, which is not a
08:57thing, is a thing.
08:57And Jed York's mugshot is not a thing and it's a thing.
09:00And Brandon Iyuk's Instagram is not a thing and it's a thing.
09:03And the dangerous one for me, the one that actually sucks is we've concocted the idea
09:08that people are hurt, who aren't hurt.
09:11I saw someone report yesterday.
09:13They were doing a fantasy podcast.
09:15And they're like, Christian McCaffrey's scary because remember, he had a lot of touches last
09:19year.
09:20And then he had that training camp injury.
09:22And I'm like, no, he didn't.
09:25He did not get hurt.
09:27And they've said so publicly.
09:29They've said it was load management.
09:32But I look at more of the reality of what happens when he leads the league in touches
09:37and the two times he's done that, he's actually gotten hurt.
09:40So forget the fact that in camp this year, he was hurt because he really wasn't.
09:44I look more at the reality of when you have that many touches and what it normally leads
09:49to the next year.
09:49But I'm not trying to wish bad things on him.
09:52Interesting you said that about Australia because the Raiders, the Eagles, and the Seahawks
09:56also share Australia as their markets.
09:59How does that come together?
10:01It comes together where the NFL assigns every market a team or multiple teams.
10:06Like, for example, the Niners have Mexico along with nine other teams.
10:12Okay.
10:13They share Mexico.
10:13Does that mean they can host the games that are played there?
10:17It means that if there's a game in Mexico, you're more likely to have these teams play
10:21there, and it's Arizona, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, the Raiders, the Rams, Miami,
10:27Pittsburgh, and the Niners.
10:28Okay.
10:29And the Niners are playing.
10:30They're playing there later this year.
10:32Against whom?
10:33Is it against Arizona?
10:35No.
10:35Not this time.
10:36Not this time.
10:36But it has been in the past.
10:38I can't remember.
10:38I don't know where they played.
10:39The Niners also share the United Kingdom with, obviously, Jacksonville and nine of the teams,
10:44and the Niners have the rights for the UAE, United Arab Emirates, with Washington, the
10:51Rams, and the Raiders.
10:52So if there ever is a game in the UAE, you'll probably have the Niners or one of these other
10:57teams there.
10:58I think it's the Vikings that they play in Mexico.
11:01Right.
11:01It's a big-time road game for Minnesota because they're not one of the teams associated with
11:06Mexico.
11:06I would love to know how that all comes together.
11:08You sit down with a pen and paper, and you're like, Australia.
11:11Okay.
11:12All right.
11:12Which of our teams gets Australia?
11:15Huh?
11:15You probably do research, I would imagine.
11:18Yeah, but then the article from Barrows today is like, but the Niners are the one.
11:23They have the fans there.
11:24Right.
11:25Because they are the global brand.
11:27And Argentina is the Dolphins.
11:30Oh, but of course.
11:30And they're not playing there this year.
11:32There's a game in Rio.
11:34That's Brazil.
11:34I apologize.
11:35Has there ever been a game in Argentina?
11:37I don't think so.
11:38But if there is, it probably won't be the Dolphins until they're decent.
11:41Okay.
11:42Okay.
11:42All right.
11:43Oh, hey.
11:44Okay.
11:44Real quick.
11:45Rolando in Napa.
11:46Because Tom Pelissero, both of Netflix and The Ringer, who's awesome, is going to join
11:51us in like five to seven minutes.
11:53Hey, Rolando, thank you for the call.
11:55What's going on?
11:57Nothing much.
11:58I love you guys.
11:58I'm in, I've stopped prepping my dinner to make a couple of good points.
12:03So I'm a big fan of your show.
12:05What time is it in Napa right now, Rolando?
12:08You're having dinner?
12:08It's 2.30.
12:09No, I'm, I'm, I, it's 2.30 up.
12:12I'm preparing dinner right now.
12:13I'm marinating some barbecue ribs.
12:14So I like to season them.
12:15Marination sensation.
12:16Yeah, so, yeah, so, so I love what you said, really, like, I'm a huge fan, but damn right.
12:25I do really good ribs, but.
12:28Go ahead, Rolando.
12:29Sorry, we're having a good time.
12:31So, so according, like you said, it was like, I've heard the most asinizing karma, French,
12:36most stupidest comments in past weeks.
12:37So, so what the, what the click baiters that you said, said basically at the Niners, they
12:41didn't make the playoffs last year.
12:43Everybody got hurt, and basically, according to media lately, there have been multiple
12:47arrests, and this is the offseason for hell.
12:50So that, according to, and the most stupidest thing I've heard, I was going to be brought
12:53up, but who was the schmuck who said that, basically, that Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch
12:57are going to be fired this year?
12:58That was the most enraging statement I've heard of.
13:01That was, that was, somebody said that.
13:02That was Jason McIntyre that you saw say that.
13:05Yeah, and it was his bold prediction.
13:07I saw, Rolando, thank you very much.
13:09Yeah, his bold prediction was that either Kyle Shanahan or Matt LeFleur of the Packers
13:14was going to be fired at the end of the year.
13:16I can't see either one.
13:18Like, even if Kyle Shanahan had a disastrous year, and Matt LeFleur, I think he's built
13:22up enough to where he doesn't get fired either.
13:24Like, what are we doing?
13:26Making bold predictions, I guess.
13:28Right.
13:28Like, what are we doing?
13:28Like, what are we doing?
