00:00John, your thoughts on the Angels.
00:02Finally, Artie Moreno is out of there.
00:04Well, not fully, but out of there.
00:06I thought that this is the best thing that could happen to Angel fans possible.
00:11This is another good thing that is happening to Southern California sports.
00:16Because I'm not as fired up about him taking over the team.
00:21I'm fired about what he's going to do for the team.
00:25What he's going to do for the fan base.
00:28I honestly believe he's going to build the best baseball stadium known to man.
00:36Period. End of story.
00:39My right now, if you take history out of it.
00:43Peckle Park, to me, is the best ballpark in baseball.
00:46I think his goal is to dwarf that.
00:49He did it with a football stadium.
00:51The second they give him a chance to build a basketball stadium,
00:55he's going to do that with a basketball stadium.
00:58Starting with the baseball.
00:59He has proven, him and his group, they know how to run sports teams.
01:05And not only do they know how to run sports teams,
01:07they know how to profit off of them.
01:09And they know how to treat the fans with a product that they all can wrap their arms around.
01:15That's why, to me, you got, the Angels just hit the owner jackpot.
01:22Like, as excited as Padre fans were about who bought their team,
01:27I think the Angels fans have far more, I don't want to say credibility behind the person who bought their
01:34team,
01:35but they've got far more of a track record to see that he's won a championship everywhere he's bought.
01:43So that lets you know that the Angels are not far behind when it comes to becoming a competitive ball
01:49club again
01:50and no longer a laughingstock that became a money pit of Artie Moreno.
01:56Yeah, this is probably the one thing.
01:59If someone were to ask me, what is the first thing that the Angels should do if they want to
02:04turn the tide,
02:05if they want to change things in Anaheim?
02:08And I would say, well, you got to remove Artie Moreno and get a new owner.
02:11Somebody has to buy that team.
02:13Check.
02:13And check.
02:15The biggest hurdle, in my opinion, was that.
02:17Big check, by the way.
02:18A huge, yeah, huge check, over $3.9 billion.
02:22John, what do you think of that number?
02:23$3.9 billion.
02:24It's more than the Padres.
02:26Because of what he got.
02:28Because of what he, to my understanding of the purchases, he got the surrounding land as well.
02:33And I think when you get your arms around something like that, because also remember,
02:39Stan Kroenke is trying to develop land here locally in San Diego as well.
02:43The Mission Rising Project, but it's being blocked by a couple of buffoons who block anything that gets built four
02:50miles from the water.
02:51And they claim that it's a, you know, nature violation of whatever.
02:55So, he's going to break, he's going to beat them too because he's got enough lawyers.
03:00But when it comes to the amount that was paid and what he can do, again, I'm more excited on
03:07what's going to be around that ballpark.
03:09I'm more excited about to see what he does after building the stadium, what he puts around it.
03:16Because I think that's the feature that made the price of it run up so high, is the land that
03:21surrounds the stadium.
03:23Yeah, I know that already.
03:25I mean, I went to Honda Center a few, was it a month ago, maybe a couple months ago.
03:30And that was my first time going in a very long time.
03:33They have free done.
03:34You take public transportation or did you drive?
03:35I didn't because, you know, what I found out, they have free parking in all those parking garages that they
03:40just built.
03:41Well, not for long.
03:42It probably won't be for long.
03:43But I'm saying, they are rebuilding that entire area, regardless if it's free parking or not.
03:49They are kind of making like their own LA Live in Anaheim.
03:54And that's kind of the whole goal.
03:55They're in the middle of renovating Honda Center right now for the Ducks.
03:59I mean, I was there when they were still kind of building things, but they are really making that place
04:04look nice.
04:04And I can guarantee you that Stan wants to make that, make Angel Stadium connect to it in a certain
04:10way in terms of how it looks and the modernism and all that stuff.
04:14And the thing is, John, is that this is a, this is an awesome location.
04:20I think people under, 100%.
04:22People underestimate Southern California.
04:25Like people think, oh, well, it's not Los Angeles.
04:26So no one wants to go there.
04:28That is completely untrue.
04:29Orange County is beautiful.
04:31You can have guys live by the beach and drive to Anaheim if they want to.
04:34Exactly.
04:36Orange County is beautiful.
04:37And it will attract free agents.
04:39There's a reason that Josh Hamilton signed with the Angels, that Albert Pujols did, that CJ Wilson did, that Torrey
04:45Hunter did.
04:46All of these guys came because they probably went on a visit and they're like, oh my God, man, this
04:50place is beautiful.
04:51Nobody talks about Anaheim.
04:52And the thing is, like you said, if it does include the land, which I hope it does for the
04:58sake of the Angels, because I know that the Cronkies Sports and Entertainment Group, they're going to do everything possible
05:03to get that place up to the level of Denver and the Avalanche and Arsenal and all these teams.
05:09So I think this is just a phenomenal, phenomenal sell.
05:14Because I said this on Fox LA, John, is that you have to sell to the right person.
05:20Correct.
05:20You can't just sell it to some, like, look at the Lakers.
05:22They sold it to Kushner and I.
05:24Look at Portman.
05:24Who knows?
05:25Oh, right.
05:26Exactly.
