00:00When it comes to this organization, is it because something new is happening, something fresh is coming in?
00:07Do you think it's time to move on from Mike Trout?
00:09Oh, good question.
00:11Man, honestly, it's something that you're going to have to think of because if you want to rebuild, why not
00:17try to do it with younger players, right?
00:20But it's going to be up to Mike Trout, right?
00:23I've been thinking for years that, hey, maybe you should go somewhere else.
00:26But you guys talked about it earlier.
00:28Orange County is a beautiful place to live, right?
00:33Why would you want to leave there?
00:35I don't know where Otani lives right now, but I'm pretty sure he probably kept some type of property in
00:41Orange County because it's just that beautiful.
00:43They're a local casino, probably.
00:45Yeah, you're right.
00:46But, yeah, it's just a beautiful place to be.
00:48So it's hard for Mike Trout to just up and leave that.
00:52And he's truly the face of the franchise.
00:55But it's something that is going to have to be discussed.
00:57But it's just a great moment to move on from Artie and have this group come in because it's just
01:05giving you a bright future.
01:07It's giving you something to look forward to as an Angel fan.
01:12And it's just been tough to watch and follow because it's like there's no effort that was given to the
01:20team from the ownership group.
01:21But now you notice somebody that's about winning.
01:24Hell, we might even get Sean McVay to come over there somehow, some way, just because, you know, he can
01:31teach them something about winning.
01:33So it's just fun times for Angel fans.
01:36No more just watching the Dodgers being great.
01:39Eventually, the time is coming for the Angels to fly once again.
01:43Mike Hill, what do you think happened after 2014?
01:46Because I mentioned this in the first segment is that they got guys.
01:51They were paying guys a lot of money.
01:54I mean, they were throwing money at Josh Hamilton.
01:56And obviously, none of those guys panned out.
01:58But I'm saying they were willing to pay.
02:01And now all of a sudden, it's just like, nah, we're good, man.
02:04Since 2014, it's just like, eh, we don't need to pay anybody.
02:07Why do you think that is?
02:08Why do you think ownership did that?
02:10Because in 2014, they almost won 100 games.
02:14They were awesome that year.
02:15And they got swept by the Royals in the first round.
02:17But since then, they haven't made the playoffs.
02:19But I'm thinking, like, they haven't really tried to spend.
02:22I mean, they got Shohei, and they kind of extended him, like, one year, one year.
02:26But they weren't even willing to give him the 10 for 700 that he was getting from other teams.
02:31Why do you think the front office did that?
02:34Like, why did the front office just say, nah, we're good now?
02:37I just think that after the years of trying, right, you bring in Otani.
02:42You see the talent that he is.
02:44You see how great Mike Trout became.
02:47You had Albert Pujols.
02:49They just got just stable.
02:51Like, they were content, right?
02:53They're like, hey, we won't be the Dodgers.
02:56I own this team.
02:58I think that it is a cool thing.
03:00And it kind of reminds me of what's going on with the Los Angeles Sparks right now.
03:04Just people that were just content and really wasn't as hands-on as you need to be to be successful,
03:11especially being in Southern California.
03:13So I think that's what kind of happened.
03:16They got a little lazy there, thinking that, hey, we're in a beautiful place.
03:20People should want to come play with us, but it's not just about that.
03:24How are you building your farm system, right, and getting the right players that fit?
03:29And it was just a bad juju around the team.
03:33You had some untimely deaths and things like that.
03:36So that's why a fresh restart is just something that the team needed, the area needed when it came to
03:42Angel Baseball.
03:43So it is about that time, and I'm happy that today was the start of something new.
03:48Here's a question that I think will be the only roadblock for the purchaser, Stan Kroenke.
03:58If – and I want to try to make this super quick as much as I can so you can
04:02answer this question.
04:03Because there's no salary cap as of now, this is unlike anything else he owns.
04:08So if the only thing that I think that could get in the way of this is if they do
04:13not get a salary cap implemented on this new deal.
04:16What do you think about that?
04:18No, yeah, that's going to be a big thing, so we're going to have to wait and see that.
04:22But it starts with the farm system, right?
04:25You've got to get the right people around your team to build a winner.
04:29And I think that, you know, Stan Kroenke is going to do that.
04:32Put the right people in the right places to make this team become successful, starting there in the farm system.
04:39And then going out, and now people, free agents, can believe that this is an ownership group that really wants
04:46to win,
04:47that we've seen win in other sports.
04:49So now you just have something to believe in.
04:52And you see it with the Dodgers.
04:54When you just have something that you can believe in, people are willing to, you know,
04:58maybe take a pay cut or leave a team to go and join them.
05:02So I think that belief system in this new group is going to allow the angels to grow the way
05:06that they need to.
