00:00What is the cheapest way to swap cryptocurrencies? Today we are comparing centralized exchanges,
00:06decentralized exchange aggregators, and just regular swaps in your wallet. So to understand
00:14everything, you need to be aware that a crypto platform is able to advertise, for example,
00:19a 0% fee and still give you the worst swap. And the reason is because the real cost of
00:26swapping
00:26crypto is a fee, the spread, the gas fee, the slippage, the deposit withdrawal, and the
00:35bridging cost, right? So we compared three execution routes, the centralized exchanges,
00:42DEX aggregators, and wallet integrated swaps using standardized $100, $1,000, and $10,000 swaps.
00:51And the results depend heavily on one factor most comparisons actually ignore. And this is where
01:00are your assets already sitting? If your crypto is already in self-custody on a low-cost chain,
01:08then a DEX aggregator can often be the cheapest route. If your assets are already on Binance,
01:15OKEx, Kraken, or other major exchanges, moving them out just to make a DEX swap can actually increase
01:22the total cost, right? So this is something to bear in mind that wallet swaps as well can often be
01:30the
01:30easiest, but convenience can also be very expensive. For example, a percentage-based wallet fee
01:37that looks harmless on a $100 trade, for example, becomes much more noticeable at $1,000, especially
01:44at $10,000, right? So we also looked at centralized exchange trading fees, the bid-ask spreads, the
01:52DEX price impact, and blockchain gas token approval costs. You've got centralized exchange withdrawal
01:59fees, cross-chain bridging costs, MEV protections, RFQ, and intent-based routing, net tokens that actually
02:09you receive after you do the swap to be able to determine which platforms rank they where, right?
02:16So the key lesson I think we took away from that exercise is not to compare advertised fees,
02:22but to actually look at the final outputs. That's why we actually built a proprietary calculator,
02:28which is a swap route calculator. All you need to do is enter the live quote from your exchange
02:35aggregator or wallet, and it calculates which route leaves you with the most cryptos. So it's a free
02:41tool. The link is in the description to the full guide, which has the calculator that you can use.
02:47And like I said, the cheapest way is not always the lowest fees. Sometimes it is the highest net amount
02:54that you receive after you actually do your swap. So that is kind of like the best way to look
03:01at
03:01it. If you want to get started with any of the platforms that we are reviewed here, check out
03:06the links in the description. And also, like I said, check out the full guide so you can play around
03:11with the calculator and do the calculations yourself. Because in a bull market, if you're trading
03:17actively, then you always want to be making sure you're using the best route with the best kind of
03:24safety protections, but also the route that has the lowest fees so you can keep more money for
03:32yourself. And let me know what your thoughts are. Go check out our main site, Decentralized.News for
